I have played this course for many years and love it. The course gets better as the summer rolls on.
Fun round
I had played this course four years ago, and had good memories of it. Unfortunately, the winter did some damage to the course. Several greens were in tough shape. One hole is still closed. There are many tight drives on this course. Elevated tees make for interesting club choices. I might give this another shot in a couple of years.
Beautiful mountain golf
This was our first time playing Kahler Glen and we were amazed. Peaceful, quiet, and challenging, the course was fun to play and full of opportunities. We will definitely be back.
Tremendous challenge.
Course not long but tite. bring some extra balls. 18 holes that each challenge in their way. You will use every club. I am a 8 Hcp. I play from blue tee boxes. Probably adds 2-3 strokes. Greens are average but getting better day.
Not good
It appears that it suffered somes ow damage last year. A few bad greens where they are. Trying to recover. Biggest complaint: heavy water usage . Many areas where it was walking on A sponge . It was sower on one green we were under attack from Mosquitos, had to hurry puta get away, all because of too much water.
Kahlerglen
I have been a member of the men's club for around 15 years but have moved to AZ. The course took a terrible beating this past winter and personally most of the greens should be temporary's and closed so they can grow in. Two holes are closed at this time changing the course rating. No restaurant or 19th hole.
greens like roads!
While the weather and company were great the greens were in disrepair. They should pay you to play it right now not make you pay to play it. Worst conditions I have ever played on. Their was no food or drink to be bought either. Be a long time if I ever play it again.
Great setting
Course is in very poor condition and could be years before they can get it back. Also, rerouting for hole #8 is confusing. Probably will not play here again.
Course Management Should Be Ashamed
I have played Kahler Glen for 10+ years, I have never seen it in such terrible condition. Tees and greens are mostly dead grass or green seed mulch. The 15th hole is closed for repair thus necessitating a temporary hole in a practice area. There is no restaurant or bar, In spite of all this they insist on charging high season rates. When we presented our Golf Now certificate the general manager rudely said "not supporting the course I see" why do you use golf now rather than come to us directly?".
Pretty tough shape!!!
Played with two other golfers and we were only ones on the course.Winter was harsh on this course. No restaurant or drinks..too bad. Staff said someone might take over food service. Won't be back soon.
Conflicting info
Web site says you get a cart with fee, but when you print out confirmation it say fee for walking course.
Had to argue to get it with what was paid, even tho we had golf now call and confirm it included a golf cart in total.
Fun and beautiful
Great course, but it was under winter playing condition
Harsh Winter Took It's Toll!
For many years we have enjoyed playing Kahler Glen. It was our first outing at Kahler this year. Unfortunately the harsh winter freezes, and no snow until February, took a terrible toll on some of the green and tee-boxes. The course is playable. Some of the greens are an automatic 2-putt currently.
Of course we will be back though! Grass is resilient and so are we :)
The course needs attention....it has dryed out a bit since we last played, but the greens remain slow and bumpy.
Overall we rate the course on the low-side. Whereas it has been well maintained in the past, this was not the case this time. The greens were very slow and bumpy, most of the pins have not been relocated since we played 2 weeks ago. Many of the wet spots are back from last month which suggests the fixes of the major wet spots were more cosmetic than lasting.
Fun destination
Fun course. Lot's of variety. A bit goofy at times, but great for a once in a while round. A few long walks from green-->tee and hilly, but still doable if you're out for exercise. A good destination course if you're in town to check out Leavenworth.
I love Kahler Glen
We arrived early for our tee time so we asked if we could get on early. It was not a problem at all. The person working in the golf shop was very accomodating. We had lunch in the resturant and it was very good. We love playing here and it was a bonus to get a deal on our golf. Thanks Kahler Glen.
The course is bouncing back and looking much better. We played Friday 5/23/14 to a temporary score card that adds a hole on the front nine because #15 is put pf play due to winter damage. Some of the greens appeared to have been hydro-seeded/automatic two putt. Play was fast.
