Port Royal Golf Course
About
Located on the shorefront of Southampton Parish, the Port Royal Golf Course is one of the most frequented public golf courses in Bermuda and it is even known as being one of Jack Nicklaus' favorites. Robert Trent Jones designed this 18-hole course, which hosts the Bermuda Open Championship every year. Doglegs and wind are just some of the factors that will challenge golfers on this course. The signature hole is the scenic and rather infamous 16th, situated precariously atop craggy cliffs that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The hole requires a nearly perfect shot in order to reach the green. Port Royal Golf Course has garnered such a following that some golfers reserve starting time a year in advance.

Great Golf Great Bermuda Service!
Great Golf Great Bermuda Service! The facilities are not above average but the golf course is one of the best
Beautiful views with great course conditions
My husband and I played on Sept. 26th, 2014 at 12:20 PM and we enjoyed ourselves. The only gripe I have is that there are no rangers enforcing proper golf etiquette. We had a group two in front of us that were playing from the black tees when they clearly should have moved up to blue or white. At one point, there were 6 of us (3 pairs of 2) at one whole.
Perfect Shape
Course is being groomed for the upcoming PGA Slam Tournament. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Staff was very friendly, although a beverage cart would've been welcome with a dew point reaching 75 degrees.
Excellent course
Course was in great shape! Very challenging but fair. Well trapped. More than average elevated greens and challenging winds off the ocean. Extremely scenic! The staff from the manager to the greens keepers were friendly and helpful like most all Bermudians. A great golf experience !
Scenic and Challenging
Spectacular vistas, wonderful design incorporating views of the Atlantic on most holes from 7 on. Typical RTJones-Rulewich design with a few too many elevated, bunkered greens requiring soft, high approaches. Important to play forward if not a lengthy driver. But a number of wonderful, strategic holes as well. 15 is one of the finest, most beautiful par fours I've played--no doubt overshadowed by the signature par 3 16th.
Scenic and Beautiful
Playing on this tough, wirery bermuda grass cost me 5-6 stokes so it was a learning experience. woul play PR again...its worth the money. som touh=gh holes especially the par 3 16th... dibolical. provides several breathtaking views og the sea. great styling. the bunkers are death . mant 8-9 feet deep with chuncky sand. For the money the best on the island.
Great course
Great and challenging course. Beautiful scenery and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this for any golfer that enjoys a challenge.
Amazing
A whole new experience. The actual golf game is secondary to the beauty of the vistas and ocean views. Only complaint is that I am out the Golf Now booking fees for two threesomes because I got a walk up rate of $75 including cart which was better than the Golf Now rate of $88 plus $8 booking fee .
Beautiful course but it rained
Course was in great shape due to the amount of rain Bermuda had in the previous weeks. It rained the day we played so we only got in 9 holes. Too bad because most of the holes along the ocean are on the back nine. The staff was very helpful and friendly. First hole is kind of funky. Other than that great course.
Good looking course and challenging
Pace of play was extremely slow and quite disruptive to the flow of the game. Staff should have addressed thirst failed to do so. This resulted in a poor feeling of playing a great golf course.
Fantastic Experience...
Played a round w my father, pace of play was slow but views were great + taking photos slowed us down, just enough. Greens were punched July 1 + still not true but will be ready for PGA Grand Slam. Overall, a great day on a great golf course.
Port Royal in Bermuda
Sand trap city. The views were beautiful and would definitely paly it again
Course has hosted Grand Slam for PGA Tour
I am a 19 handicap and played from the white tees (just under 6000 yards). Course has many challenging features and fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean from numerous holes, especially #16, a par-3 which must be played over a gorge filled mostly with the ocean with the prevailing wind from the ocean (white tees play at about 150 yds, but the pros play it at about 230). You are forced to aim over the ocean and there is no safe bailout. If you choose the tee appropriate to your handicap, you will have fun and probably shoot an average score. If you back up, you WILL suffer. Big numbers are out there if you bite off more than you should.
Great views
This course is a must play when visiting Bermuda. Teeing off in the late afternoon (3:30pm) was extremely hot and very humid. I wish I was informed the greens had been aerated probably a week before my tee time which made the greens virtually unplayable. It was truly a hit and hope scenario (I got lucky and birdied the 16th signature hole). A surprisingly hilly course. Some holes went straight up and some went straight down significant terrain changes. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I rented clubs but brought my own tees, balls and gloves.
Course seems to attract new golfers and this can really slow down a round. I teed off a single sandwiched by a 2-some in front and behind. Neither wanted to play as a 3-some.
Great views, moderately difficult course.
Must Play When in Bermuda
So this is where they hold the PGA Grand Slam for winners of each major tournament and that alone is worth trying out the course. But what makes it even better is the sheer beauty and scenery of the course; the signature hole offers a breathtaking vista of the azure blue ocean and this can be seen on several holes too.
For an island course, there are some amazing elevation changes that I didn't expect. While I can imagine a longer round during very busy tourist periods, I got around as a single (later paired up) really quickly and it offers plenty of challenge to everyone.
A beautiful warm sunny day in Bermuda on this course? For sure!
Very Pleasant track !
Played two days April 14th and 15th.
Did my research and it was very helpful!!!
Not to know the yardage is challenging, and slopes with turns are crucial.
Beautiful views and great experience!!!
Best views of any course
Just for the view alone. It's a must play course. Pace of play should not be an issue during weekdays in April. Hardly any body on course. Mostly singles and twosomes going out
What views!!
The views on this course are unbelievable! The course itself is in great shape, but beware it is very challenging given the amount of wind blowing in from the ocean. Got a great internet deal on GolfNow to boot!
Port Royal Golf Bermuda
This is a stunning course and encourages good course management on most holes.
The staff are friendly and helpful as are the local golfers and members.
Definitely going back to play.
Worth every penny
Loved the entire experience. Worth every penny!
This course is well maintained and the staff is very attentive.
