Good Day for Golf!!
Weather was perfect outside of a 10 minute window where we had a brief shower. Course played well and the greens were in very good shape outside of the Geese making a mess of some of the greens near water. Awesome staff!!!
Enjoyed Sunday am round
Was skeptical as mixed reviews. So went with somewhat low expectations but hot deal price was so good. Fairways and Greens were in pretty good shape and speed was good. Variety of holes that are challenging and fun. Will definitely go back to play again. Not a country club but definitely above average public course
great course
Course is in great condition, especially the greens. I try to play here a couple times a year and always enjoy it. Great value for the price.
Course is struggling
I was playing pretty fair for myself, but everytime a tee shot landed in the fairway I had a pretty bad lie in a dead spot, or a divot.... Of course that is never fun but especially when there is water around a lot of the holes.
A Lot of the greens were incredibly slow and was extremely difficult to get a feel for. Tee boxes were pretty bad as well.
Never Again
Horrible course conditions. Tee boxes, fairways, and green complex all need a lot of work. Patchy fairways and fringes around the greens were full of weeds and invasive grasses. One green had a tree root in it. Tee boxes full of weeds.
Can’t believe people pay $40 plus to play this course. It was great before but dreadful now.
Pace of play was horrible. No course rangers to keep pace up and group up the two’s and singles to keep pace going
Ok
Not in great shape. Fairways pretty sparse. Greens blemished in many areas. Don’t plan on returning.
Old Cup Holes not level when replugged
Challenging little course, greens were steady, blind holes had target flags to help guide you (nice plus), Golfers there know nothing about fixing ball marks on the greens. They were awful! Simple and yet... challenging course!
Not good
Terrible tee boxes. Greens bumpy and nothing tolls true. The collars are full of weeds. I’ve been coming to this course occasionally over 3 years and don’t plan on coming back except when I can’t find a tee time else where.
Disappointed.
Locust Hill is not worth the $52 they’re charging for 18 holes. I used to love playing this course, but raising their prices without improving the course has forced me to travel in order to enjoy a round of golf. If I didn’t find the occasional “Hot Deal” on GolfNow, I would never play this course. The tee boxes are awful. They are forced to move the markers into locations that are very unlevel due to hardly having grass on the rest of the tee box. The greens are decent, but many are full of holes. Many places on the course are marked as “ground under repair”, but eventually you have to beginning repairing these areas. They’ve been under repair since the beginning of the year. They did fix many bunkers on the course, but many times there’s an inch or two of beautiful white sand above the base layer. It is appealing to they eye, but disappointing when you find yourself in the bunker. Also, it’s disappointing that they never have the grass section open at the driving range.
LHGC- Good value
Interesting topography, no side-by-side back and forth holes, nice water features, and good views.
Great condition for the price!
I have not played here in a very long time, as I heard that the course was in bad shape for many years.
This is no longer the case, at least not right now. A lot of work has gone into making this course beautiful and playable. It was super busy, so I decided to play with a twosome... and they were both very nice.
I am a 14 handicap and played from the back (Black) tees. Still shot very well.
Holes 16 and 17 are beautiful and surrounded by water.
Only downfall was the pace of play. It was packed. I can't really blame the course though. It is the only decent public course in Charlestown (that I know of). I will certainly play here again, soon!
