Convenient location
Had a great time. Played with my brother-in-law and 2 local friends. Pace is a bit slow. Could be improved by having more rangers on the course. Hole locations are a bit too tricky to find and sometimes confusing.
Nice wide open course.
Not a very challenging course but definitely one of the nicest city courses out there. The course was in great shape, and the $23 round want bad either. However the pace was terrible, took me 4.5 hours for a twilight round. Found myself waiting sometimes 10 minutes at multiple holes, even though there were marshals on the course.
One of the better city courses
Clearview is one of the better city courses. But that also means it can be busy and quite slow. The course has some length and is user friendly. No real traps to speak of. Bunkers are few and not too sandy (unfortunately) and no real water in play. So if you live in the city and want a conveniently located game this us a good and reasonably priced choice.
Very easy course
The folks in the pro shop weren't kind or helpful. The course is very easy and forgiving. Overall was a too expensive for the experience.
Greens played great
The round played slow, round finished in just over 5 hours, 1 tee box was closed but the round was enjoyable overall. Course looked to be in pretty good shape. I would definitely play again.
Straight course
All the holes are pretty straight, very little turns. It's early in the year, so the course looks beautiful
Sunday 18 at Clearview
I've been playing Clearview for about 7 years now (since I've lived in NYC), and the course has been in the best shape I've seen thus far. The greens were in great shape, and were cut to be challenging and tricky. The pace of play was under 5 hours, which has never happened to me before on an NYC public course. The fairways were in great shape as well. They also have a grill setup between holes 7, 12 and 13, which is perfect if you want to bypass the clubhouse at the turn.
As good as I've seen it!
I have played this course many times, but this day really impressed me. The greens were in pristine condition and rolled far better than I recall them doing here.
Someone on staff has really stepped up their game and has made this course better than it's been!
Good open course
Forgiving wide fairways, pretty straight course. You can get frustrated when the greens have divots all over them. But overall, it's a nice course to walk and play.
This course is great
This course has comfortble atmosphere, great conditions, and friendly staff, it's worth to play at here next time.
Favorite For Locals
This course is a very good NYC muni course. It is long enough to let you use every club in your bag. It is also a forgiving course, except if you're playing against the fence. This is also a very crowded course, peak times usually result in a 5 hour or more round. Mid summer late afternoon rounds a very enjoyable with great sunset views of the Throggs Neck bridge.
Too many fallen leaves and acorns
Great time of year to play but there were too many leaves to hide your ball - hit a few in the middle of the fairway but lucky to find it when you get to it. I even lost a few from the fairway as tons of leaves are blown by the wind. Someone needs to be out there blowing them - Oh, there was the 7th green with fallen acorns all over the green. Why can't someone tend the green and clear it at intervals.
This course is well maintained and nice views of the bridge.
Although this was a nice course and well kept the round took a little over 5 hours to play. It seemd like they over booked and send everyone right out creating a long wait at the previous tees.
Good greens.
This is an easy course but they have put some work into it since I last played it. It's a grip it and rip it course with little need for anything lower than a 7 iron. The greens are in excellent shape for anytime but especially for this late in the season on a heavily played city public course. I played on a Tuesday and which has a $28 special cart included which is great value.
This course is over priced.
Pace of play too slow. Very busy course on the weekend and seemed overbooked as it took 5:45 for a round that should be 4-4.5 at most. tee boxes were in need of attention and greens as well.. Staff was nice but at $65.00 for a NYC course way over priced. $40.00 is more in price range for this course.
Enjoyable but takes forever
Hadn't played Clearview in at least 15 years because it took over 5 1/2 hours to play. Thought I'd give it another try. Course was in decent condition considering the heat we had this summer. Greens were soft, receptive and fairly slow. But the waiting took the fun out. All tee boxes had at least 1 foursome waiting to hit, with some having 2 foursomes. Left after 14 holes and 4 1/2 + hours. I'm told it's always like this. Won't be returning any time soon.
Long day
7:07 tee time went off at 7:40. It took 30 minutes to check in. Waited to hit every shot. $3 to park? Really pay to park at a golf course.
Not crowded in the afternoon
I always enjoy playing here. You mostly can recover from the adjacent fairways- good because I'm a beginner. I like the staff here. I've never played really early, but I'm guessing the afternoons are less crowded.
Very Slow rounds here unless you are the first group out. But it is popular
This is a straight course, no doglegs. Its fun for the average golfer, not much trouble to get yourself into. The greens are good, faster than most munies in the five boroughs. The pace of play is slow however. $3 parking or free if you can find one of the free spots about 100 yards away from the clubhouse at the entrance.
Short and sweet
Short course, in decent shape. Greens are rolling good but lots of unfixed divots on the green.
