Discrimination
Reserved for the 18 hole course but did not let me in.
kept me keep on waiting and let other groups(who didn't even reserve) go first.
do not go here unless you want to wait for long hours and feel discriminated.
Clear View
Nice Course great location easy to get too. Staff friendliness is poor magement is not very organized you check in at the club house bar, no seprate pro shop. This course is overbooked and and the pace of play is very slow in 3.5hrs you might get 9 holes in before it gets dark when you have a 1pm tee time and it gets dark around 5:15pm i played on Veterans day.
SLOW
I didn't tee off until an hour past my tee time which cost me several more holes I would have liked to play.
This is the the slowest course in the tristate area.
management of tee times horrible!
I had a reserved tee time that started over an hour late because they allowed people without reservations to play to the detriment of those with tee times. Over an hour late! As a result of the late start and slow play due to jamming people on the course - I could not finish the round. Also the painful slow play made the round unenjoyable.
Over crowded
I like playing this course but when the weather is nice and on weekends, it is always overcrowded and the pace of play is very slow. You wait on every hole. I had a 1:30 pm tee time. Sunset was at 6:30 ish. I was hoping to squeeze in a 5 hr round. Not a chance. Only got 14 holes in. The management needs to space out the tee times and have more Marshall's out on the course to regulate the pace of play. On this day I only seen one Marshall on the 4th tee, par 3. He was telling each group to wave up the group behind once on the tee. He was the only Marshall out there. The nyc courses in general are over priced! Much nicer courses outside of the city and half the price.
Slow but fun
We were the 3rd group out in the morning but it still took just about 5 hours to play 18 here. The tee boxes are very chewed up from the sheer volume of players everyday. Fairways are full of divots that no one fills. Greens are actually in pretty good shape but I still took the time to repair other people's ball marks.
If time is not crucial you should give Clearview a go. It a casual and laid back facility which encourages low stress golf. You will have plenty of time to think over your shots. But if you're in a rush or if you are impatient do not come here.
stranger in strange land
Wait on every tee box. Wait for every second shot for over 5 45 round booked for ny metro ended up in Seoul Korea no one to talk to entire round not that they could not speak English just I was intruding will not go back
Best Public NY Course That I've Played
I have almost no complaints about this course. The only reason I didn't give it excellent on staff friendliness is the guy who was rolling the greens that morning decided to interrupt us not once but twice on the 8th and 9th holes. The 9th hole, my cart partner was already on the green and I fell just short of it and the guy didn't care that I was about to chip on and just starting rolling the greens!! But I will not let that one guy ruin what was a great day of golf on a gorgeous course.
easy to get to
Course plays slow and was very crowded on a Monday. Course itself is pretty boring but has some great views of the Throggs Neck Bridge. Tee boxes were bare, fairways dry but in good shape. Greens were soft and green. Too many unrepaired ball marks. Hard pan around most greens. A decent "muni" with easy access to CitiField to catch a Mets game after a round. Fair value.
Clearview CC
Average NYC public golf course , 5 1/2 hrs to play, teed off at 6:30AM, stuck behind a 5-some, waited on every tee box, not fun.
Greens airated, very slow & bumpy.
Poor service in Pro shop
Won't go to this course again, the staff in Pro shop is not friendly at all.
Not bad for hot deal!
I was paired up with a beginner so ended up search for balls and the pace was slow! The fairways were in good+ condition but the greens were rough... no one repaired their divots and foot indentation made the ball bounce everywhere.
Nice place
The course is forgiving and generally well maintained. Slow play is not unusual. Food in clubhouse is very good if you like comfort food. Starter and rangers are friendly and helpful.
Nice Golf Course
We played at a 4 hours and a half pace, really good pace for a Sunday morning.
Played on a weekend and first three holes were a log jam
Tee time was 9:24, we didn't tee off until 9:55. First three holes you had two foursomes waitin on each tee box to tee off. Opened up a bit after that. Tee boxes were in need of repair, fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. Need to take out the rocks from some if the traps. Overall not too bad but they need to spread the tee times out a bit to not get everyone so backed up.
Straightforward Layout
I enjoyed playing Clearview Park. It was easy to get to. The layout is very straightforward and the greens are in decent shape. It was a slow round but that can be expected for a Saturday afternoon.
Convenient location
Had a great time. Played with my brother-in-law and 2 local friends. Pace is a bit slow. Could be improved by having more rangers on the course. Hole locations are a bit too tricky to find and sometimes confusing.
Nice wide open course.
Not a very challenging course but definitely one of the nicest city courses out there. The course was in great shape, and the $23 round want bad either. However the pace was terrible, took me 4.5 hours for a twilight round. Found myself waiting sometimes 10 minutes at multiple holes, even though there were marshals on the course.
One of the better city courses
Clearview is one of the better city courses. But that also means it can be busy and quite slow. The course has some length and is user friendly. No real traps to speak of. Bunkers are few and not too sandy (unfortunately) and no real water in play. So if you live in the city and want a conveniently located game this us a good and reasonably priced choice.
Very easy course
The folks in the pro shop weren't kind or helpful. The course is very easy and forgiving. Overall was a too expensive for the experience.
