Great value for a GolfNow Hot Deal...
The pace of place was excellent. Finished in under 3.5 hrs. The course was in very good condition and had a great mix of long and short holes. Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Would definitely play here again.
Greens long and uncut, unputtable. Tees long and uncut.
COURSE Not Good right now. i WOULD'NT PLAY HERE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS.
Enjoyed playing here
The courses has all types of hazards. Challenging enough for the average golfer. The staff here are very friendly.
Pretty good shape considering the winter we just had!
Calverton Links was in pretty good shape considering the winter we just had! Greens were a bit thick and bumpy, but that's to expect for this time of year after the harsh cold winter months and lack of spring time weather!
Overall, great value!
Horrible for the money.
Play Swan lake! if you can afford $39, spend 6 more and play a course 10 times better maintained. The greens are horrible, poorly maintained as far as putting, impossible to be consistent. As for the rest of the course it is OK at best. the entire feel of the course is that they just don't care anymore and need to spend a whole lot of time on bringing it back to what it use to be.
Wind comes into play on this nice corse.
The course was being prepared for the season, The greens were aerated and dressed. The fairways were being mowed, Overall, the course was fine and I would like to play it again in season. Just pick a day where the wind isn't blowing so hard.
Fairways are in good condition. Rough is playable. Greens were recently aerated , causing them to be rather bumpy and erratic.
The fairways were in good condition. The rough was cut in such a way as to make it fair and playable. The greens were extremely difficult because they had been aerated about one week ago. This resulted in the ball bouncing rather than rolling. The staff at Calverton links are all very friendly, helpful, and courteous.
fun day
Mar 27, 11:30, sunny 48 deg w/slight breeze and we were the first 2 on the course; we didn't see more than 12 people all day. Played in about 3 hrs. The price was right, $26!!!! w/cart. The clerk in the pro shop was friendly and informative. Went to the first tee and teed off immediately. The fairways were fine but the grass hadn't really begun to grow, so there were some divots from the winter play. The greens were of avg speed but not true and bumpy due to footprints when soft and wet. If they had been rolled, they would have been above avg for this time of year. So, for this time of year, they were avg. In the summertime, this course is generally in above avg shape. Will play it several more times this year.
Good, Easy Layout; Terrible Shape
I gave this place 2 stars simply because I thought it was a really fun and interesting layout. It's short (under 6300 from tips), but well-placed bunkers and narrow fairways at times can make for interesting decisions. There are a few really nice holes (12 & 15 come to mind), and the recent of the course is above average from a design standpoint. But it is a pretty easy layout. The worst part of the course though was the condition it was in. I've never seen a LI course in such terrible shape. The fairways were ok for the most part, but the bunkers were atrocious, many had weeds growing in them (and these were not waste bunkers, these were greenside and contained rakes). Even worse than the bunkers was the greens. I'm going to assume they were a .0000000001 on the stimp meter. I've literally never seen greens this slow. I had a massive downhill put stop on a steep down slope about 3/4 of the way down, at a point where it was still steep enough that it should be rolling. No rocks or anything were holding my ball up. I had putts that I thought I hammered, and probably would be off the green on average speed greens that were coming up 1 or 2 feet short. It was so bad that I would not go back for this reason alone.
Good layout
Great back nine.back nine has a lot of character, which I love in a golf course.some unique holes that you don't find everywhere.
Great day of Golf.
Well maintained course with friendly staff. Very enjoyable.
Course was good to pristine.
Overall the course has improved quickly from the a fungus that effected much of the course during the summer. The Greens crew did a great job in repairing all the fairways and most of the greens. They fixed several tee boxes and created new tee boxes where necessary. I like the several differences on each hole which can be challenging with some narrow long fairways and odgelating greens.
this course is well maintained
Calverton links is a well maintained golf course. This course is not overly difficult so its a nice course for the average golfer.
Nice Course
The course was nice even though they had construction being done. The tee times were too close together and we had a 40 minute wait after our scheduled tee time.
Don't waste your time
Way too many nicer golf courses on Long Island to play than this cow pasture. Lots of course improvements needed to get this course into playable condition. Tee boxes were the worse I have ever seen. Rough way too long and full of weeds. Fairways in many places didn't have grass on them. Save your money and go elsewhere.
