Extremely difficult course
Staff was very helpful - but the course is not worth the money. In addition, its extremely difficult. Very narrow fairways and its easy to lose your ball.
Challenging Course indeed..
I don't live far from this course but price wise is one of the most expensive in Westchester. I found a good deal on Golfnow and decided to give it a go. What an awesome course. Very challenging for the avg. golfer (like me), but worth it. Had a nice time and not a bad round since I played with this guy Mike who is a member there and knew the tricks of the course. I highly recommend this course to anyone who lives near and of course having played Long Island courses, I recommend it to those who live in the island to come up for a good challenge and enjoy the hills and elevation tee shots that are not often found on the island.
This course is expensive.
Pros: Great views, fast greens, very well maintained, good pace of play, friendly staff, decent layout, extremely fast carts with great GPS systems
Cons: FAST greens (oy!), very challenging, pretty expensive, no driving range, lots and lots of bugs in your face and all around, you will lose a ton of balls
Although I have the county golf card, I would only play this course with a GolfNow discount because nothing beats it after 4:00. $40 for weekend twilight golf with a cart at a nice course is a great deal in Westchester ($$$$$).
Hudson Hills was tough, but it is by far the best and most maintained county course. It is a long course that felt even longer because you have to play smart from the tees. No bombing it with driver except for a few holes. Lots of careful placement and difficult second shots, and once you're on the green, forget about it. These greens are fast and will make you feel like you're on tour. The course lacks true water hazards but does have a lot of swamp areas with ponds in them. The back nine is a little boring compared to the exciting and challenging front-- some holes look and feel very similar. If you can make it through a round here without losing 6 or 7 balls at the minimum, you can consider that a huge victory.
Hilly, tough green.
Fairway is hilly and narrow. Green is hard. Because it was my first time to play here, I managed this course poorly. Also, I had to make blind shots in some holes.
scenic course
Hudson Hills is a very scenic course. There are some beautiful views that outlook the Hudson. The course has various elevation changes. The course is a good design, some holes force the golfer to hit precise shots to avoid trouble and other holes are a bit more forgiving. Greens rolled fine. I would definitely recommend the course to others. One negative was that the course did not have a driving range.
Westchester golf
In an area with so many golfers and so few public golf courses Hudson is the best of the Westchester county golf courses.
It is the only county course with a real country club feel.
Greens are in good shape considering the amount of rounds played on them.
Hudson plays extremely hard in the wind so wait for a calm day and you won't be sorry.
great course layout . greens were in bad shape
ive played the course twice now in a three week span and the greens were not cut both days i played. the course is swamped with people that dont fix their ball marks . i think we know who these people are,..,....
Nice course, good price
Hudson Hills is the best of the Westchester public courses. It's well maintained, offers a variety of unique design features, and is more than challenging enough for the average-above average golfer. The GolfNow pricing makes it a great value.
quite hilly but fair
My wife an I teamed up with 2 other local men. Golfers seem to know their capabilities and we will together. course is very hilly but fair. There are no water holes and the sand traps are few. The fairways are in good shape, the tee boxes could use some work and the greens are true.
Nice course
Pretty course that was well maintained considering it was late April.
Challenging holes mixed with moderate holes. Lots of hills (Hudson Hills) and resulting blind shots that can be frustrating.
Played for $55 because of golfnow.com deal, which made it worth it for sure. However, $115 on the weekend is not worth it.
All together I had a pleasant round and would recommend the course when it's not crowded (like on a Monday) and you have time to find balls and consider shots.
Nice settings.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Well maintained but greens are a bit inconsistent and slow. It seems only mountain goats can walk this course, which means you have to use golf carts which are restricted to cart paths only. Tough to get the proper yardage and you end up walking more than necessary.
Overpriced but fun
Good course but without amenities like a driving range it it way overpriced especially for non residents. Some great holes with legation changes all over the place. Due to the slope on some off the holes you may get punished for good shts. Par 3's lack aracter but the par 5's make up for them. Enjoy it but don,t make a habit of it. Similiar quality courses are nearby for less.
A course for golfers. Bring your best game.
Challenging in every way. Almost every hole has character. Each brings a different test. Dramatic elevation changes make you think through your shots. You'd better pick the right club and then hit the shot. Little room for error.
Good course to play!
Greens were excellent! Fairways need some attention -- golfers don't repair their divots, nor, as it seems, does greenskeeper. A fun and challenging course to play. I always enjoy a round at Hudson Hills. Beer cart girls need to know not to drive up towards golfers when they are at address and ready to hit the ball -- find a tree to duck under and wait for the golfer to hit! Each time I had to wait to hit, after getting into the zone, for the beer cart to pass me from more than 150 yards out. HHGC is not the only place where this happens, mind you. Minimizing the amount of fairway divots, and schooling the beer cart girls on etiquette would have me give it higher ratings. I am one of those who believes that the staff should never distract the golfers, nor make them wait on a shot when they are ready, unless the golfer is causing trouble, or playing too slowly.
HHGC has a great variety of terrain, it is generally in very good playable condition, the course is quite challenging, and it is a lot of fun to play! Go play this course for a treat!
Play Hudson Hills on a regular basis. Conditions are great. True that people don"t repair ball marks and divots. Staff are country club level. Always one step ahead.
