San Pedro Golf Course
About
San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.
The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.
The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.
San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

First time playing this course
Read recent negative reviews and would agree that the course needs attention. We enjoyed the layout and hope to play again if in the area.
Thank you for the four star rating!
Lost Balls in Fairway
We have played this course many times and usually it is in decent shape. NOT this time! Fairways were deeper than rough. In many spots the fairway was near 6 inches deep. We actually lost balls the were hit straight down the fairway. Not sure if all the mowers are broken down, but something is definitely wrong. The only positive about our round is that we finished in 3 hours.

Thank you!
Soggy from watering following overseeding.
Course had not been fully mowed and was very soggy, all following overseeding. Lots of tall grass in fairway and tee boxes and loud of soggy places. Should have limited cats on course. Good thing was pace of play..no one pushing and did not wait on anyone. Hopefully things will be better in 30 days.

What is going on at this place???
Our group has been playing here for years, hence the cheaper rate as I am a "Pedro pass" member.
That being said, this course has been steadily declining over the last 5 years. It was voted " Best greens in Southern Arizona" Just 6 years ago.
Now, before their over seeding this year, it was "playable" at best. The once fantastic greens, are now consumed with crab grass and are as inconsistent in speed as possible.
There is broken down maintenance equipment out on the course??? Not sure why they cant tow it to the shop.
The bunkers are unplayable, solid mud, and where there is sand, it is hard as your driveway.
The entire course is a soggy mud pit. Hit it in the middle of the fairway and you might find your ball, although you will have to look for a few minutes. And hit it in the rough? Well good luck, you could stand on it and not find it.
The wait staff does a good job, but the facilities are dingy, and the restroom is disgusting.
Save your money, play anywhere else. The players in our group are heading to different courses now, as they have also decided to raise the rates on our "Membership" rounds. So I say "why be a member here if I have to pay the same as a non member"?

Course Needs Maintenance
Generally this course layout is one of the best in southern Arizona. However maintaining the course seems to be a challenge. They just finished "aeration and seeding", yet that was weeks ago. The course is over watered and very wet and soggy. Bunkers are mud traps at best. Fairways and rough are not well mowed giving the opportunity for lost balls in "plain sight". Greens were OK, yet somewhat bumpy and slower than they looked.
Anyway this course can be one of the best lay outs and challenge the best players when conditions warrant.

Fun course to play. Back nine challenging. Course in nice shape.
Thank you for the four star rating and review! See you again soon this season.
Course Continues to Improve
The course shows obvious improvement over prior visits. Fairways are green with consistent lies. Greens are firm and faster than they look. Bunkers were less mud, but still wet and mostly wet packed sand/dirt. Major issues we had was very slow play. Waiting on every tee box and eventual shots into greens. Course had no marshal to manage group play, so the slower it became. We quit after 13 holes as when we approached #14 Tee, there were two groups still on tee, and a group 150 yards up the fairway looking for balls. Very frustrating.
San Pedro
Course was in good shape, and dry. That was a surprise because of the heavy rains a week ago.
The course has its challenges
Fairways grass was very short and the greens were fast..
Very nice course
the fairways were in great shape and the greens were great shape
Unexpected Holiday
After receiving a holiday in the middle of the week decided to get out and play a round of golf with a buddy and grabbed a couple of Hot Deals at high noon. Arrived about 45 minutes early and staff allowed us to start about half an hour early. It was surprisingly crowded for the middle of the week, but pace of play was good. Had a little trouble with the gas powered golf carts. Had to get another one brought to us twice during the round. The course was in good shape, but as usual a little wet. Always like playing this course as it has some fun holes. The 18th got me today, but I'll be back.
San Pedro
We love the setup on this course. Play 1 - 9 going out and 10 - 18 coming in. There are easy holes, and difficult ones. The 9th hole is difficult if you go too far right, and the 18th can be a challenging finish. Fun course!
Disappointed
The course looks run down. It needs a capital infusion. It's been 3 years since I last played and was very disappointed. The one saving grace was that the greens held and had a nice roll. The club house and Pro shop were nice and the staff were friendly.
Increased Course Maintenance Needed
The course has a great layout and most every shot is challenged for direction and location. Albeit this is a city course, it could be in better condition. Bunkers are wet, mostly hard pan mud, and little chance for recovery. Fairways in many places were over watered and very soggy. Greens were showing stress signs with varying speeds making putting a real challenge. This could be one of the best courses in Southern Arizona if only it could be improved in condition and maintenance. Given the conditions, the cost of playing this course is pushing the green fee, even if one receives a discounted green fee as I did.
Nice course, friendly staff.
Quiet place with reasonable prices. Great staff. Would recommend
