Don’t waste your money
Staff genuinely treat you like a burden. People often arrive with no booking which completely ruins the pace of play. Especially if you play 18 as once you’ve finished the first 9 they’ll be about 3 groups waiting to tee off. Lane cove is a much more basic course, but way better value for money. Don’t go here.
Avoid at all cost on a weekend
We booked 18, not realising that this is a 9 hole course - only became aware of this after checking the course map the day prior to playing. Course was incredibly backed up with no one playing in their allotted times, and groups who’d started the 18 previously coming back through and randomly joining back in. We paid for 3 carts and there was only one available. We ended up finishing up after 9holes as when we came back through to the start there was about 6 groups waiting to tee off in front of us.
Would only play during the weekday again
We booked this course two days in advance and arrived on time but we had to wait 1 hour at the first tee as there were numerous groups with no bookings turned up and allowed to play. It took well over 3 hours to play only 9 holes due to this.
Too over crowded- need larger gaps between groups/tee times.
We were waiting at every hole we played and this is not the first time this has happened.
Whilst you have designated call-up holes, the signs posted are difficult to see and either way, not once were these rules adhered to by groups in front of us.
Slow play with groups of 4 playing best ball, leaving carts in front of greens when teeing off the next hole leading to further delays.
Castle Cove Country Cove
Great 9 holes course. Appreciate the rain has closed the course often, but wouldn't harm it to have the hoses on it a bit to soften the fairways. Also, one of the great things about a community course is being able to finish the round and pay it thanks by having a few drinks and something to eat after a round. Closed bar and cafe are disappointing to face when stepping off the course on a warm day.
A good easy morning hitout
My closest home public golf course.
Fairly flat, not too many challenges. Not very long.
Good for an early morning hit out of 9 holes.
A nice local course
Pros: friendly, professional staff. Well-kept fairways and greens. I'll play again here.
Cons: a line up formed for the 11.30pm public tee off time. Some of the players were sharing golf clubs. I was 7th in line and got off at 12 noon. Slow pace of play. I had paid for 18 holes but after 4 hours I had completed 14 holes and gave up.
I'll play again here and allow 5 hours for a game just in case I get backed up again.
Pleasant exprerience
My son's just starting and it's a great 9 hole challenge, short and tight and tricky greens
Rude aggressive staff
Got yelled at by staff for teeing off in the back. First time playing there. Didn't know it was for members only. Then the pro followed us the entire round like they had nothing better to do. Gave me and my friends very creepy vibes.
Cost was expensive for the condition of the fairways and greens. It's a 9 hole course so if you want to play 18 you go around twice. Imagine having staff follow you for 18 holes. How were we meant to concentrate and enjoy the game?
The fairways need work
Overall it was OK, but most fairways are in a bad condition compared to most courses in Sydney. Some bunkers have very hard sand and one had a pool.
The greens are good.
Also some indications are missing, like from hole 8 to 9.
There were 2 kids before us with basic T-shirts (etiquette ?), and who didn't how how to play. So they were quite slow.
After the round, we could not have a drink because we are not members and it was Friday, while members could drink in front of us. The person in charge was quite aggressive in telling us the rules.
Hope this can help
Not a single green keeper
Play castlecove this morning after booking online. Arrived only to find out the price online is wrong so round was $4 more PP than I had booked. Pace of play was good some of the green were in great conditions but majority were covered in broken branches and leafs. Normally courses I have played around the area for the same price are maintained much better than that with regular clearing of the greens. I found the young lad in the shop to be extremely rude. In my opinion extremely bad value for money at $44 for 18 holes which is just 9 x 2 as was informed all higher tees were for members only. Certainly won’t be venturing out there again.
