Colts Neck Golf Club

About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Terrible conditions
Terrible conditions greens were beat up most public courses are much nicer and tee boxes were also beat up. For $110 is ridiculous much nicer courses for way cheaper.
Expensive and Bad condition
Course was 90$ to play. Doesnt seem like they water the course at all. A lot of greens were burnt out and had many black spots. Much nicer courses in way better condition for 90$. Marshall told us to speed it up after 2 holes. We were 1 minute behind pace. Unnecessary.
Front better than the back
Some of the greens on the back appeared to have been aerated recently. , some were bumpy.
Some of the tee boxes on the back as well, were spotty. Some weeds, but overall this is a fine course. First time playing it this year - hope to be back.
Good gps on the carts.
Water stations placed at tee boxes throughout the 18. Very much appreciated
Big Al
Would not pay 90.00 during the week to play there.
Good to play if you can get a deal
I played after 4 and walked for $50 dollars. That’s all I’d say this course is really worth. It was potential but needs a lot better maintenance. Greens were pretty rough and tee boxes need some help.
Less than average
The course conditions were terrible. Greens had weeds. Fairways are beaten up. Tee boxes are not maintained either. Stones in the sand bunker on 18th green. The municipal courses in that are in better shape. Not worth even if they have a hot deal.
Signage
Course rate was somewhat over priced. Fairways in decent shape, greens slow and tee boxes were shabby. The signage coming off greens to tee boxes was awful. And, too many roped off areas.
Not too good, but better than not playing
Tee boxes are a mess. Full of divots and very uneven lots of ball above or below your feet on the tea box not which is not fun. The greens are not well-maintained. Lots of unfixed ball marks difficult to get a good role. The course itself is probably big enough for 16 holes, but they squeezed 18 in, I wouldn’t go back. It’s better than not playing at all.
Trash Semi Private Course
Starts off by charging me $97 instead of what it said to be $70 on golf now. Golf carts were good, only thing good I could say about the course. Greens filled with ball marks all over and tee boxes were beat up as could be. The pace of play was over 5 hours. The ranger drove in front of my friend while he was in his back swing. I would never play this course again. Maybe if it was $25. I feel bad for the members of this course it’s embarrassing. Trash trash trash regret showing up to this course, it’s a shame cause it’s a nice layout too.
Disappointing conditions
I love this course and have played it several times, including in the off-season as it's one of the few courses in the area that remain open year-round. That said, the current conditions are among the worst I've seen. Greens are patchy and inconsistent. Tee boxes are pretty rough. (In fairness it seems like many players are not repairing their marks.) Some bunkers were thick and wet. Many holes didn't even have liquid in the ball washers. It's a great layout with friendly staff and a nice driving range but it feels a bit overpriced right now given conditions and other options in the area. Hopefully it improves soon.
Not worth the money
Very disappointed in course conditions- terrible pace of play. Multiple twosomes- a single walker and some kid driving through “only playing par 3’s”????
I have no plans of ever returning- better off going to knob hill-
Course was in good shape, could be in great shape if they put sand, soil and seed on carts to repair tee box and fairway divots. Also, people or staff need to fix ball marks on greens. Pace of play was slow, but it was Saturday afternoon. Overall solid track, but a bit on the pricey side for the conditions.
Staff is pretty unpleasant. Stood to check in for about 15 minutes while people were just sitting in the office. Course has a nice layout but the greens and tee boxes were in poor shape. Course has seemed to go downhill each year. not worth the money when other courses nearby are much nicer and cheaper.
Great course to meet it’s price
The course is maintained with quality. The management is also good.
