Colts Neck Golf Club

About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Big Al
The condition of the golf course was fair. There was a lot of dirt patches and grass patching around the greens. I wouldn’t mind playing it again at the hot deal rate of 69.99. I would not pay $90 to play there though. Course needs some TLC.
NOT even worth a $50 Hot Deal
It has been more than a year since my last round at Colts Neck Country Club. I am not your average, hoping to break 100 golfer. I have 50+ rounds recorded on the 18Birdies app over the last two years with a handicap of 10.3
All I can say about this course is “WHAT HAPPENED???”
The practice putting green by the Clubhouse was in pristine condition and unfortunately, the ONLY ONE in that condition. The greens were HORRIBLE!! Quite a few of them had fungus growing on them and crabgrass in the tightly mowed areas on the fringe and around the greens. A number of the fairways were very questionable at best. Also, What in the world are they trying to do on hole #12??? If you want to make it a par 4 make it straight and 275-325 yards and drivable….OR if you really want to keep the tee boxes where they are …….cut down the trees on the left corner of the dogleg. This way the 90% of the people in USA who are Right Handed (and 90% of them fade the ball) will have a reasonable chance of getting a par. EVEN My golf cart shut down 3 times on the hole because it didn’t know how you are supposed to play the hole???
I have no idea what it cost to be a member at this semi private golf course, but I can tell you if I was a member I would be leading a revolt against the ownership. I don’t know what they are spending the members money on?
I am so glad I did not pay full price to play today….. And as my review title says; “I don’t even think it was worth a $50 hot deal!” There are MUCH better options for $50 within a 30 mile radius.
Since I am not a member, I cannot speak about all the services and amenities they provide to their members. All I can say is, I went to play golf today I wouldn’t give the golf course more than 2 1/2 stars.
Took a turn for the worst
I played this course last year and it was in good shape, now not so much. I noticed new golf carts, which do not even know the course layout. I guess they spent their money on those carts and less on maintenance because the greens were awful the fairways were spotty I am shocked a round cost $90 during a week. I would only play this course for a hot deal under $40 otherwise go play any other public course because the condition of those cannot be any worse than here. Hope this reaches the right people!
August golf
Course overall is in pretty good condition after being played hard throughout the summer. Greens will need attention as comes September. They still role pretty good.
Pace was good. Didn’t walk it but can be walked pretty easily
Semi-private country club?
Played at 1:30 on Saturday after “Member Scramble”. Apparently Members don’t or won’t care to fix ball marks on any greens! Greens chewed up with dead spots all around. Have no idea how much a membership costs but I would expect WAY BETTER maintenance of greens which has to start with the MEMBERS!! Greens were quick but between unfixed ball marks and spike holes all around hole was tough to make even short putts. Local course knowledge sure to help with club selection off of tees and where to aim. For same price I would play Pebblecreek
Wow?!Really
What happened over here? New staff, New maintenance crew? I’ve been coming here for years and this is the first time I left shaking my head. From the Sloooow play to the Un rollable greens. Somebody send help this used to be one of my favorites😢
Crazy Layout
The course. Is in poor shape - no one reports divots or ballparks and there is fungus on many of the greens. I never saw a course layout like this - it’s very confusing and in some areas dangerous.
Great Experience
Had a great day out with my family. We all played a great round of golf and had so much fun. The staff was so helpful with pointers for my daughters. Great place for the family and really a great experience
Avoid at all costs
Awful place, worse people. I wouldn’t play here again if my life depended on it. Be prepared to be treated like an infant if you decide to play this sorry excuse of a golf course.
Taking a turn for the worse
This course was great ~3 years ago, but something happened where the conditions and amenities aren’t what they used to be. Greens are in very bad shape and no drink cart. 2 groups ahead they let a group of 6 out and it ruined pace of play. The golf carts play instructional videos on how to fix divots and would go off at random times with no option to skip. Carts would threaten to lock you out if you went over 8mph, even when you are well below that speed. I would regularly see putts on the green bounce around due to poor conditions. Many greens have black spots where grass isn’t even growing.
Very good and fund track.
Golf course is in good condition: bunkers raked, fairways cut and rough consistent. Greens in good condition, espectially considering heat and humidity this summer. Pace of play excellent and staff was courteous and helpful . Highly recommend
