Great Course!
It hadn’t rained in almost two months when I played and the course was actually in decent form, I was impressed.
Course is going downhill
This place used to be one of my favorites. The layout is great. Clubhouse is a trailer that has a bar and basic food(I rarely use clubhouse so no issue for me.) The two main issues I have is conditions and starter. Starter is very pushy and wound too tight. Tried to push us out early. Was very pushy about it. We were warming up on the range and declined. As far as course conditions this place has gone the way of being cheap IMO. Weeds in the first cut, chunks of grass and weeds in quite of few of the fairways. They used to have gps carts a few years ago. No more. Greens were slow. It’s a shame what they are doing to this place. Place is still busy so I guess that’s all they care about. I’ll stick with playing with other courses in the area and play here when I can’t get a tee time somewhere else.
Conditions have gone downhill
I have played this course at least 5 times a year for at least 15 years. The last two years conditions have gone down a lot. Starter was very aggressive and tried to push us out early and team my friend and I with an earlier twosome while we were on the practice range. Greens were slow and looked like they haven’t been rolled in awhile. A lot of the holes have random patches of weeds and grass sprouts. Carts used to have GPS on them but no more. Tee boxes are chewed up. I’m not sure if they have new owners now but I used to look forward to playing here and used to drive an hour to come here. Now I live in hunterdon county and only play here when I can’t get on heron Glen or neshanic. One positive was we played early and played a 3.5 hour round.
A beautiful course neglected into abysmal condition
A beautiful course neglected into terrible shape. No justification charging premium green fees for a course in abysmal shape.
Played this course today - was terribly disappointed with the conditioning. The tee boxes were not maintained. Broken Tees buried all over the place. When I mentioned this to the staff member he brushed it off saying there's a drought in NJ - that's still no reason to not pullout broken buried tees in every tee box.
No food/drinks cart anywhere on the course
No water anywhere on the course
Two Men's rooms - one out of order.
One of the two stalls in the other Men's room - out of order
No napkins in the napkin racks
Seriously!
I used to love this golf course - not returning anytime soon. Hard to find quality courses in Jersey and a lot of demand for any course - doesn't mean courses don't keep up their standards.
Only consolation is the friendly staff and the friendly bartender.
Pass
Have played before, and it has been on a decline since. Yesterday proved that. They have no business charging that much to play here. Course is not taken care of. Tee boxes, fairways and green were all In terrible shape. Definitely will not return.
We are sorry to hear about your last round with us! The drought-like conditions recently have been difficult. Please reach out to the manager to discuss if you'd like, as we surely would like to have you try us again in the future! Thank you, HBHGC.
Pace of play
The course is in good shape and has a very fun layout, but there are no rangers out there and it’s an absolute free for all. Pace of play was around 6 hours. Groups in front of us lining up every single putt and grinding. Groups behind us hitting into us multiple days. More stressful than fun.
We're sorry your round wasn't as expected! Please reach out to the manager to discuss if you'd like, we'd like to have you give us another try! Hopefully we will see you again soon... HBHGC
Great course but poor club house facilities
No coffee or any thing in the club house, but great course. Worth playing. Tests all your skills.
Country Club Conditions /Strategy needed
Extremely impressed with the conditions of the entire course from tee to fairway to green. It felt like I was playing at a country club. Using a golf app and a laser yardage finder in tandem is a must on this course.
There are a few tricky holes with some blind shots.
Hole #5 and hole #13 have blind tee shots uphill and you cannot see your ball land. Other holes have some interesting carries but it is a fun course to play because of the challenge. I will definitely be back to play this course for sure.
Thank you for playing with us! Hopefully we will see you again soon! HBHGC
Awesome Layout
I had fun but the course is tough. There are several blind tee shots, and a lot of elevation changes. Great scenery, well worth the money...
Would recommend
Course has a lot of positives, Greens are rolling nice
The course was challenging which I enjoy playing I will definitely go back
Enjoyable Coarse
Very open Links coarse. Rough was a little thick but it is early in the season.
Coarse was in very good shape.
No complaints, try it sometime you will enjoy the layout.
We are sorry to hear about your last round with us! The drought-like conditions have been extremely difficult for us! The entire staff is trying very hard to keep up with Mother Nature this year... Thank you for playing us in the past, please reach out to the manager to discuss any other concerns if you'd like, as we surely would like to have you try us again in the future! Thank you, HBHGC.
