challenging track, great greens
Unique layout has some challenging holes. Par 3's are mostly shorter which is a nice change of pace from other courses. Greens running nicely!
Greens recently aerated...
Course was in nice shape, except greens were recently aerated and there was no notice when I booked the tee time. Tons of sand on the greens was difficult to manage. Also fairway bunker on #7 has no sand and is like concrete. Pace was ok but groups tend to spend way too much time looking for lost balls in the deep fescue. Played here the prior Sunday and course was immaculate except for the fairway bunker on 7.
The Hills are alive
High Bridge Hills offer is one of the most interesting well-kept layouts in the region. The greens are very fast and smooth best I’ve ever seen them. Pace of play mid week was a little slow but to be expected with the difficulty and speed of greens on that day. Rack rates can be a little over priced but if you can find a way to get on for under 50 it’s a good deal.
Greens were superb!!!!!
Top notch conditions!!!! Greens rolled better then ever… like lightning!!! Played in 3 1/2 hours at 740 am!!
Great NJ Course!
This course was about an hour from my house, but well worth the drive. I heard it was essential to keep the ball in play and that’s correct. Fescue is on pretty much every hole and if you’re in it, forget about looking for the ball. I found many balls just stepping in there! Layout was challenging, but still manageable. Loved all the par 3s on this course. Scenery couldn’t be better while playing this course. The greens were PERFECTION! Hats off to the grounds crew for keeping these greens in mint condition in August. No balls marks and they all ran fast yet true. I wish this course was closer to my house. I’d play it all the time if I could!
golf high
very good condition for this time of year- staff was great
Not for amateurs
Do not come to this course if you are a beginner/amateur golfer. There is tall fescue grass that borders the fairways on almost every hole. If you aren’t nailing the fairway every tee shot you’re going to lose TONS of balls. Even if you hit the fairway, if it’s not dead center there’s a good chance it bounces off into the fescue grass and you’re not going to find it. Good luck
First time playing here. Impressions: far too many blind shots, both off the tee and in fairways. Small greens that were cut too short, so quality approach shots would land short of pin and bounce off. Don’t mind the fescue, as in most cases it’s far enough from fairways. But when hitting a blind shot to where you think the green is, you can easily lose your ball in it. Definitely a course you need to play a few times to know where to hit it.
First Time at High Bridge Hills
Played High Bridge Hills for the first time. Nice, challenging layout. Open fairways that you can let it rip with the driver. Some blind shots make
It challenging at times to track the ball. The high fescue that others have written about can come into play, but it is only penal for the most errant of shots, I know as I had 2 shots I couldn’t find. But that’s how the course protects itself from not being challenging. Greens were in great shape and rolled true. Played with 3 golfers from Canada in their 20s who were great to play with. They consistently were hitting drives 275-300+ yards. We teed off at 9am on a Saturday and played in 4 hours, so pace of play was good. Plan on playing again later this summer/early fall.
