Fox Hollow Golf Club

About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Mostly dry after recent rain
Staff friendly. Pace was good. Being winter, the greens were slow and unfortunately the first 3 groups off the tee, we were the 4th, just didn't do a great job fixing their pitch marks. Was glad that they're getting better clearing leaves, especially on the long downhill 15th.
Always
Always enjoy the course and the challenges each hole offers. Thanks for doing what it takes to make this a pleasant round - clean cart, well groomed grounds, clear of leaves. But the rough is tough!!! Stay on fairways! 8-)
Very nice course
The course was in very good condition. The layout is challenging but fair, although the rough was thick and made hitting fairways a premium. Would definitely play again and recommend to others.
Wow. Beautiful and challenging
It was one of the nicest courses ever played.
Beautiful and very challenging. Great condition for a public course. Could have been a course fit for a Pros tournament
Fox Hollow
Very enjoyable. Good greens - pretty fast. Only complaint is that I wish it was slightly longer and a par 72. Otherwise, a very good course.
Good day.
Course was in very good condition. Fairways and greens were very nice. Rough was thick and green. Majority of tee boxes were in good shape. Sand traps were in good condition, except very hard after a soaking rain. Great price for two golfers on tee-off.com. Nice variety of holes, uphills-downhills and a few doglegs. Play the course if you get a chance.
Good luck putting
The conditions on the course were very good. There's some great views when you're up high on the tee box with a downhill fairway.
I haven't played this course before but the greens were SO FAST and the hole placement on many of them were punishing. Definitely the fastest greens I've played all year and lots of slopes. There were several holes where the flag was placed exactly on the apex of a slope so if you didnt have the straight uphill putt, you were going to have a very hard time. The most 3-putts i've had in a round this season was two or three. This course left me with SEVEN 3-putts. So if you enjoy the challenge on the green, then this is for you.
Good Course, good value
I've played Fox Hollow for many years. It's a good layout with some challenging and some forgiving holes. The things I like best are: 1) Pace of Play - the starter does a very good job of separating the tee times to allow a good pace of play; 2) Greens - the best part of the course itself is the quality of the greens. They did just aerate several of them recently so they were a bit slower and bumpier than normal, but this maintenance will allow the greens to stay in great shape going forward. I wouldn't recommend walking it unless you like a challenge as there are a number of elevation changes and many side hills making walking awkward. Carts are strong (gas powered) and work well and there's a cart service person who takes cards as well as cash and a call in phone number for food at the turn. All in all, Fox Hollow is a very good value for the money.
