My first Legend experience.
The Legend at Bergamont is mostly a private course with some guest tee times during the week. We got on in a 4 for 3 deal and paid $54 with a cart. Which was a steal for this very nice course. The layout is pretty fun with lots of up and down and some great elevated tee boxes. The condition of the course was in great shape. Fairways were well manicured and easy to hit off of. Greens were great. They moved pretty quick and held their line really well. They had that nice soft but firm feel to them.
We started on #10. We did not play the black tees but that tee box on 10 is awesome. It is literally in the parking lot, so a cool idea. I was a big fan of that hole along with most of the back 9 which is really good. #17 is a great par 3 with a green that hangs out over a pond and the pin was tucked close to that pond and looked like it was in it. #18 is a great finishing hole up the hill right at their huge pro shop/bar/ballroom. #7 on the front is a great downhill par three with a pond on the right and a green that is pretty small but looks big. Finally our last hole #9 is a great risk reward par 5 measuring 600 yards you can play the safe smart way all the way up the right around the pond or you can go right at the pond and try to smack a 3 wood over… didnt work out for me but a great hole nonetheless.
My only gripe with The Legend is that the fescue is really really gnarly and if you hit it just barely in it, it is really hard almost impossible to find. Wish it was a little thinner so its a penalty but not a lost ball.
All in all, a really nice course and for that price you can't beat it.
A Course in Decline
The course has mostly a great layout with many beautiful and challenging holes. However, The majority of it now runs in-between rows of big houses, and the course is not in the kind of condition you'd expect for a private .club with fairly high guest rates. There are a lot of spotty fairways, poor greens with dead spots, and it just overall seems that the place no longer has the grounds budget it once did. Also, if you want to try the world's worst hamburger, make sure to order one at the turn. Absolutely the worst food I've ever had on a golf course.
the legend
was fortunate enough to work out a deal for our group of 16 in madison. staff at the legend was cordial..the course was in good shape, greens were nice, layout was challenging yet fun. Overall nothing bad to say and i would recommend
Nice middle range course
Staff was polite .
Course was in great condition. fairways and greens well maintained and a good challenge,
Rough was a fair punishment for errant shots. A little sticky from the rain but fair.
Bunkers had a crust on them but weather was not ideal night before and that morning.
Overall I enjoyed my round and enjoyed the course. Was a good looking course in its own way and would enjoy playing it again.
Excellent layout outside of Madison
Last minute addition to our 6-round tour of Wisconsin and very glad we didn't miss it. With limited public access, this is one most golfers should try. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were the fastest we played the entire trip. The front nine mostly winds up and down hills, while the back nine includes some flatter holes.
While no hole jumped out as extremely special, almost all of them were very solid golf holes. While it runs through a housing development, the houses do not come into play, but occasional offer a nice aiming point.
Will definitely return.
Excellent conditions and greens were at least a 10
Beverage carts all the way to the pro shop were very friendly and the course was playing very good
Great Golf Course
Great golf course and very good staff (very helpful) but play was very slow because of the foursome in front of us, they spent a lot of time on almost every hole looking for their golf balls (very poor golfers) no Ranger on course to push them along and groups started backing up behind us waiting for the group in front of us. I loved the course and will play it again - often but really guys they are only golf balls not gold nuggets- take the penalty stroke and move on....
Hidden Gem
There never seems to be many golfers on this beautiful course. It's a little out of the way, but well worth the trip. Even in very windy conditions, we had an excellent round.
Best Greens in area
It's been 4 years since I last played L@B. Forgot how terrific a course it is......as the title states best greens in the area and maybe the entire state. Course in general was in great shape. This time played from the whites (6200) instead of the blues (6700) and the course is still challenging...especially around the greens. If you're drives are a bit off the mounding in the rough comes in play A LOT. If you need to hit of level lies stay in the fairway.
Great, Private Country Club...Excellent Conditions
Played on a windy, Wednesday afternoon. There may have been 10 groups on the whole course. Few trees, but a fun layout. Conditions were Outstanding, never bumped my ball anywhere. greens fast and true. Free range balls is nice too. Spend the $60 and play it.
Excellent course
Played at 4:10 on a Saturday afternoon. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were excellent. The pace was surprisingly quick. We didn't think we would have enough time to finish, but we finished with time to spare. The course was challenging, but not from the fairway ;-). I cannot say anything negative about this course. In my book, it easily ranks up there with with other top courses in the area. We will play again.
Wow
This an excellent course. Great shape fairways are the best in the state. I would play it every day if possible !!!
Terrific Course
You can only book this course on GolfNow because it's private but I loved the layout, a lot of variety. It's definitely a hidden gem and I'll play it again when I'm near Madison.
Golf Outing on our back nine!!!
It would have been nice if the proshop told us in advance that a golf outing would be interrupting our back nine play. However they didn't but they did send a young man who watched us on the 14th hole and said we had to pick up the pace when we really couldn't since there were other players right in front of us. Then they sent a twosome out to play right in front of us at the 15th hole. What a joke and for this we paid $75.00 for the round.
Great day of golf!
As a University Ridge Club member June is a tough month with the Champions tour there. I always loved playing the Bergamount but have not played it since they went completely private. A tee time came up on Golf Now so I had to play. It only took a few holes to remember why I love this place. Hole to be back this year for another round!!
Fast and fun
Greens are rolling very true and fast, Overall the course is in great condition. Bev cart doesn't make it around very often, so plan accordingly if that's part of your game.
