South/North Golf Course at The Legends of Massillon
About
The Legends of Massillon consistently ranks as one of the top public golf courses in Ohio. The club has 27 holes of championship golf that is divided into three different nines called East, North, and South. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations though they all share heavy smattering of bunkers and water hazards. More than 80 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the 27 holes and water comes into play on 22 of them. Originally opened as an 18-hole golf course, another nine holes were added. Each nine consists of six holes from the original course and three new ones. The South/North combination has greens that are large and inviting and there are four different sets of tees. Players of all skill levels will find a round that suits them.

A lovely course at a great golfnow rate
Got a $10 rate on golfnow, so decided to give this course a look. Very pleasantly surprised at the course, layout, and conditions. Greens were fast and rolling, fairways in great shape, traps, as most courses nowadays, need work ( minimal sand).
Overall, a very nice course, with many beautiful homes around its perimeter. Definitely would play the course again
Nice course
The course has gotten a lot of water lately and the greens were holding very well. Unfortunately, people have been extremely bad at repairing their pitch marks so the greens were a pock-marked mess. They still rolled quite fast but not very true.
The course is generally pretty open and scenic and everything aside from the greens was well-maintained. Pace of play was pretty slow but, then again it was a holiday so I can't blame the course for that.
Challaging but worth it.
This course makes it ideal for the thinkers. One of the 5 loveliest courses in Stark County.
character
Great course with plenty of character that makes you think and use just about every club in the bag
soggy but good
It was very wet due to the inordinate amount of rain, but it was apparent what a nice track this is. It was difficult but playable.
Slow goings...
Just need a ranger to keep groups moving or allowing others to play through. Otherwise, great course for the money.

A bit expensive
Great course and condition of turf grass is superb. Although $40 for 18 holes and a cart is a bit steep for the area. Prices in the Massillon Canton area should all be under $40 for any course. There are no jobs in the area and would get more play if prices were a bit more affordable.
Great course for the money.
An execllent course with above average length of the rough. This course will penalize you if you are not an accurate golfer off of the box. There were multiple times that my ball was just a few feet off of the fairway and I could not find my ball and had to take a drop. This shouldn't happen but with this course the rough length is treacherous.
This course is very flat.
The pace was slow for my pace, the course recommends two hours and 10 min. but I played through three groups. But groups were cooperative. The greens were wonderful.
Early in the year, but really nice shape already
Course was in great shape this early in the year given the bad winter and spring thus far. Greens not grown in yet but were rolled and putts rolled ok. Definitely held shots. Overall Legend's is a course that can be relied upon to deliver a decent round of golf every time. Pace was great and it was busy Sunday when we played. No pressure from behind and we waited on exactly one tee for a par-3 green to clear.
THIS COURSE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FUN TO PLAY, WOULD LIKE TO PLAY THE OTHER NINE ONCE IN AWHILE.
ALWAYS ENJOY PLAYING THIS COURSE, UNFORTUNATELY PLAYED IT THIS TIME JUST AFTER THE AERATION WAS DONE, CAUSING A VERY POOR PUTTING DAY. LOVE TO PLAY THE SOUTH NEXT TIME, PLAYED THE EAST AND THE NORTH THIS TIME.
Very good course with 27 holes. Like all of them. A lot of water.
It requires course management to have a good round.
SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!
No way nine holes should take 3 hours on this course. Never saw a ranger and the group of 4 in front of us waited on every shot due to a threesome in front of them and who knows what was in front of that ridiculously slow group. For crying out loud it was a Tuesday not a Saturday!!
Tees and fairways were a little sparse in some areas. Fairways were lush and well groomed. Greens did not hold well but did putt true. My buddy and I played three balls each so we got a good feel for the greens.
Only played the East course due to time constraints. Starter was sympathetic and offered to let us play that nine again since it was not as crowded and the problem groups had turned to the North course.
Staff was cordial and helpful but the need some rangers with guts enough to move play along. The ridiculous time of play is the reason I would not recommend this course and the reason I will not go back even at $13 for 18 holes!!
the course is in need of tlc.
HARDLY ANY SAND IN BUNKERS.CART PATHS ARE BAD.PARKING LOT IS TERRIBLE.STAFF WAS VERY NICE.GREENS WERE SMOOTH AND FAST! COURSE JUST NEEDS SOME TLC.
Beautiful well-maintained course
Great challenging course for all levels of players. The course is beautifully designed and well maintained. The only reason for not giving The Legends five stars was the pace of play.Too many golfers booked too close together so there was a long wait between each hole. If you're not in a hurry, we highly recommend!
One of my favorite courses.
The overall experience was good, but I was very dissappointed with the pace of play. We had to wait on nearly every hole. We booked the East/South courses, but the starter wanted us to play the North, which is not what we signed up for. Never once saw a starter to monitor the pace of play.
Country Club Quality Golfing
A long drive takes you to a repurposed mental institution, 27 beautifully landscaped holes with honest fast greens, with lots of water, trees, and heather guarding the fairways.
