Aston Oaks Golf Club
About
Aston Oaks Golf Club is perched atop rolling hills that overlook the Ohio River Valley. The Jack Nicklaus Design Group created the course, which sits on the former land of President William Henry Harrison. Although his presidency was short lived, traces of his legacy in Ohio can be seen throughout the golf course. Each hole was carefully carved from stands of mature white oak, hickory, and other native hardwoods. The course is tight and demanding with fast greens and plenty of elevation changes. The abundance of trees really characterizes the course. Between the 10th tee and the 11th green, there is a giant Buckeye tree that is the largest in the state. With all of the trees lining the fairways there was hardly a need to add bunkers, but there are some incorporated along the greensides that help to define some holes.

Great time!
Our round started with fog, ended with pouring rain and was still a great time. Favorite round I ever played. Can't wait to play it with ideal conditions.
Fabulous
Two fairways had been resodded due to vandalism. Gorgeous course. Lots of elevation changes and trees. Really nice greens. A+ all the way.
aston oaks
a little to crowed for me felt like i was rushed buy golfers behind us this was a week day
What a great deal
Played the course in late November it was in great shape. Love the layout. And it's always fun with GPS in the cart.
Nice layout
Really nice course as expected from a Jack course. Only complaint would be the idiots in front of us who obviously didn't care if they got their round in before darkness. We were the second to last group and if we didn't have that group to deal with we could have been done 45-60 minutes quicker. They found it perfectly acceptable to look 5 minutes for balls, and also to not play 'ready golf'. They also hit from a set of back tees and I guarantee you that none of them broke 100. And one guy took 10 seconds before starting his swing over each and every shot. REALLY DUDE?!? Wow... The main problem is that there were no marshalls on the course. All it would take is one Marshall to solve that problem.
Sloooooowwwwww
We played on a Sunday morning hoping to miss the rush. The course actually put us out in front of a small group outing to keep us from waiting. The first nine was a little slow. We followed a twosome who was held up by a slower threesome. The problem came after we made the turn. We proceeded to follow a family of four who had no clue. We waited for 5-10 minutes over every shot. We were never asked to play through. Overall the round took 5 hours. There were no rangers out to keep them moving.
Good Inexpensive Golf
Course was in good condition despite the somewhat recent aeration. There was an outing going on and my round was slowed considerably by that fact. There are enough elevation changes in the course that require different shots while using the same club. You have to think a little and not just blast the driver as accuracy is at a premium on a number of holes.
Staff always goes above and beyond!
Management will pull out all the stops to make sure the customers enjoy the golf experience to the fullest. With upgraded GPS in carts, electric carts, and a great course the experience is always one of the best in Cincinnati.
I'll go back time and time again and enjoy this beautiful scenic track.
Great course, could improve a bit
I really like this course. It's challenging and the elevation changes make you doubt your club selection from time to time, which I consider a good thing. While mostly in good condition, some of the fairways could use some work. Also, I prefer walking courses and this place is cart only, mainly, I would think, because the holes are really spread out. But even with the cart, a surprising number of holes are cart-path only, which is annoying. The GPS in the carts is pretty rad.
Awful Course Shape
Being local, I have played Aston hundreds of times. This was by far the worst shape this course I have seen. It has been wet out and it was not cart path only. My biggest complaint was that when they cut the fairways they didn't bag any of the clippings. There were some fairways they looked completely dead due to the fact there was so many clippings left behind on every hole! The fairways were also very poorly cut. There were numerous lines that were twice as long as the cut next to it. I paid $45 to play and I felt like I should have paid $20.
good
It was a tough course with quick greens, there were a few rough holes but its not bad if you have a cart
Two bad apples spoiled the bunch
I was playing Memorial Day weekend so some slow play is to be expected. I knew this going in, so waited until evening to play. I was playing alone and as I stated, didn't expect to fly through. The guy at the counter was of few words. Good thing I had played here previously or I'd have been on my own. On the other hand, the starter was super friendly and directed me to hole #4 to skip a few two-somes. One he stated was slow. So, I had plenty of time to sneak through the maintenance trail onto #4 tee box. That happiness lasted until #7 when I followed a kid playing 4 balls. Yep, you read it right. He wasn't in a hurry to move either. I couldn't understand. Finally I realized he was waiting on a two-some who were hammered and literally sat in the cart for 3/4 minutes drinking before each shot, behind each green. I'm all about enjoying myself but courtesy to others is included. They let him play through, but my luck wasn't as good. I thought I'd at least get the last three holes in peace being as I started on #4. NOPE! They must've wanted to continue until they drove on all the tees. Hope they at least called a cab. I know they were busy with a wedding but someone knew what was going on. Unfortunately nothing was done. Nice track, but lack of attention ruined my round. Very unfortunate.
Nice course
Nice course but signs for the next hole at several spots poorly marked.
fun course in great shape
Course is always in great shape, with a challenging and fun layout. One of my favorite public courses in Cincinnati.
Great Course
Course was in awesome shape and the staff was great. Look forward to playing again at this course.
Great course
The. course is hilly with some great views of the Ohio river on a couple holes. The GPS units on the carts provided invaluable information and improved the speed of play. The course was in excellent shape and I will definitely play he course again!
Favorite course
Great course , played here about 10 times this season and even in December the course was in great condition. It's also the best place for a golf outing. Played in 3 outings there this season all top notch
Great Course
We just love Aston Oaks - great place to play absolutely beautiful.
Spectacular Course
Course is beautiful, conditions of course are immaculate, GPS makes a huge difference in a round of golf, the scenery is just unbelievable.
Terrible staff, Terrible food
Staff was extremely rude and the food was absolutely awful for unreasonable prices. My $3.00 mett was completely burnt and was obviously sitting in a warmer for what seemed like a year. Staff was unfriendly and rude in the office and restaurant. Course was short, hilly, and unforgiving especially around the greens. The greens were also aerated and there was not a note on Golfnow letting anyone know which was a little disappointing as well. I do not believe I will give this course my money again. Pay at your own risk!
