Aston Oaks Golf Club
About
Aston Oaks Golf Club is perched atop rolling hills that overlook the Ohio River Valley. The Jack Nicklaus Design Group created the course, which sits on the former land of President William Henry Harrison. Although his presidency was short lived, traces of his legacy in Ohio can be seen throughout the golf course. Each hole was carefully carved from stands of mature white oak, hickory, and other native hardwoods. The course is tight and demanding with fast greens and plenty of elevation changes. The abundance of trees really characterizes the course. Between the 10th tee and the 11th green, there is a giant Buckeye tree that is the largest in the state. With all of the trees lining the fairways there was hardly a need to add bunkers, but there are some incorporated along the greensides that help to define some holes.

One of the premier tracts in Cincinnati!
I am a 30 handicapper, so this place is to tough for my game because I refuse to play a quality course like this one from the short tees. From the blues, this place will give you all you can handle and then some. I can't imagine what it would be like to try to play this course from the blacks, but if you can manage to do it without committing suicide by the end of the round I commend you. Some of the views of the Ohio River from the course are awe inspiring too. Bottom line- if you want to play the best public access courses in Cincinnati, Aston should be on your list!
beautiful scenery
considering the rainy conditions the course looked beautiful. It was my first time playing there and can't wait to go back.
great course for the cost
great track. Very challenging. Always in great condition.
Most Challenging and Visually Appealing Layout in Cincinnati
Jack Nicklaus created a gem here. It has always been more fun to play golf if I was being tested and this course will do that. This is a course I would play over and over to conquer. Conditions were ok for this time of year and I can see there will be alot of improvements for next year.
Good Condition - Great Views
Very nice course with many different holes and lots of elevation changes. Played from the Gold (White) tees and there were plenty of variation in hole lengths. Not a course you can walk because the distance from Green to the next Tee was very long. Staff was great allowing us to start on hole 16 rather than wait for the 1st Tee to clear. Carts had GPS which really sped up play because you were not always looking for sprinkler heads or yardage markers. Course was fair, but not easy, with some holes being very tight with water or woods to contend with. Several holes had carries over lakes or streams and there were several waterfalls on the course. Good number of fairway and green-side bunkers kept it interesting. Houses lined most holes, but only were close to the course on one hole, so they did not diminish the experience. In the summer or spring when the trees have leaves on them, you would not see houses on many holes. All in all, a very good experience considering it is November and the price was very reasonable.
65° day in November in Greater Cincinnati
It was 65° in November in Greater Cincinnati. Is there any where else to be but on a golf course?
Great course
This course is in great shape with challenging holes. It has the country club atmosphere at public pricing. Pace of play on this day was pretty bad with a lot of waiting on each tee box. The course needs to spread out the tee times more or have some rangers out there quickening play.
Awesome coarse! This coarse has great views!
Loved playing here! Will absolutely play here more!
Great challenge and value
I will not let the fact I got my first eagle on this golf course at all influence my review of this superb course!
We didn't lose a single ball in Fall leaves because the leaves were not on the course. Big kudos for that!
Mid-way through our round the starter presented us with a rain-check because they were aerating the greens even though we were playing. That was really cool.
Since my partner showed up an hour late, we shouldn't have gotten to play. However, the staff worked hard to get us on the course with another fellow who wanted to play. The staff started us on #9 even though they were backing up. After a couple of holes all groups spread out and it was not a problem.
I will DEFINITELY return to play many more times to this hidden gem!
Great Layout but not for Walkers
This is a really fantastic layout. The holes are all different and interesting. The conditioning was ok but playble.
The holes are so far apart, that it is impossible to walk.
With the great golf now deals they have, I'll play again.
Every hole is different, the fairways are in great shape and are bent grass or zoiza, greens are in good shape after a long summer drouth etc.
This is a great course to play every hole has its need for a good shot. Good surroundings and views. Golf carts have "GPS" and score keeping capabilities Very nice course to play anytime.
Good Course Design, Nice Facility
Aston Oaks is a great course for the value. It's got a challenging layout with generally narrow fairways and strategically placed hazards. The GPS built into every golf cart means less time planning shots, although that doesn't always guarantee a fast pace. One of my favorite courses in the Cincinnati area in the $30-40 range.
Great Layout condition is always questionable
Jack Nicklaus design very challenging and a lot of risk reward. This would be on of the top courses in Cincinnati if they kept up with the condition of the greens and fairways. It seems there are stints throughout the season when the course is in great shape and then falls apart.
