An excellent value for a top course
I've always enjoyed Dove Mountain at Ritz Carlton. You can't go wrong with any of the 9's, though Tortolita and Wild Burro are my two favorites. The conditions are usually good (not great) and the layout of the nines are very good. The only issue I have on-course is the greens are a bit on the overly sloped side... sometimes you'll have side-hill putts and such. Certainly interesting though.
Bring extra water, as the staff will give you only two water bottles per twosome... we played here one summer in "max weather", and there was no on-course water, and those two bottles disappeared quickly.
Definitely a great value for a high end course!
Great track
Great desolate course but It’s being developed for houses so it won’t be as private or desolate as it use to be. It’s a shame but I understand people like money and nice houses.
What a course.
I have considered playing Dove Mountain on past trips to Tucson but couldn't justify the $150+ greens fees. This year there were daily Golf Now specials for $80-90 so I took advantage of them and played it twice. It is spectacular. The fairways are wide but there are numerous traps that require strategy off the tee. The greens are large and very undulating which lead to some challenging reads. The gorgeous views of the mountains were spectacular. A very enjoyable day - I'll definitely return next year.
An Amazing Golf Course
I can certainly see why Dove Mountain was chosen to host a PGA Tournament several years ago. It is truly a championship course, filled with diabolical but beautiful sand traps and barrancas, requiring intense course management, while being situated in one of the most lush desert settings in Arizona. The saguaros are magnificent, and road runners, rabbits, and quail abound. The course was in great shape, especially considering the severe drought conditions in Arizona. We will play here again soon!
Beautiful Course, but very slow
Truly a beautiful course with breath taking views of the mountains. Pace of play was poor, front nine took 2 hours and 35 minutes. While it probably was caused by the slugs playing in front of us, we didn't see one ranger all day. The back nine got better (because the group in front of us had a player or two drop out after the wind picked up). Course was in good shape with greens very fast. Putting on these greens is a challenge and the course is very difficult. Pleas be aware that this is not a very Covid-19 compliant facility. No masks on bags staff or starter, and no mask in Golf shop.
Just not great.
Drove down from Phoenix for a guys business day trip on what was expected to be a great group of courses. Pulled up to find no one at the bag drop. Unloaded my clubs and headed in to the pro shop. Staff was friendly in the shop and out at the carts. We did not see a beverage cart in 18 holes and when I called the pro shop on the 2nd 9 they had no idea where it might be. There was no drinking water on the course and the restaurant and snack bar at the turn was closed which would have been really nice to know when we booked our tee time or checked in for our round. Course conditions were just ok. Turf around green complexes was very inconsistent, a lot of old hole locations in the same area around the flags with poorly repaired holes, many of the bunkers are very shallow lacking sand with a lot of rocks and pebbles. Pace of play on 2nd 9 became a grind waiting 10-15 min per shot. with no on course staff to keep play moving. Whole experience fell way short of the expectation that the Ritz Carlton Brand puts out there. Amazing views and beautiful layout.
Beautiful Course.
Beautiful scenery. Bunkers in very poor condition as were the skiirted areas around them. Many greens were spotty with and in rough condition. Pace of play was good. Overall disappointed for the money we paid. Would be willing to give it another try if conditions improved. Epic Facility.
The course is beautiful but challenging. We like playing there when we can book the course at a reasonable rate.
Another Great Day
Another great round at Dove Mountain. Pace of play was a bit of an issue, would probably recommend weekdays over weekends, but we still beat the setting sun.
Stellar course
Tough course but well worth. Makes me want to come back tomorrow. 27 hole combination makes me want to stay here for a week and I live in Tuscon. Great restaurant too. I will being my sleepinf bag and camp by the fire Im am sitting next to right now sipping a hot tahti dreaming of Tahiti with my hot tahtis
Could be better
If I had purchased directly from the course, it would have cost me $200+ for 18 holes. Though the setting is beautiful and the fairways are in good shape, the greens are diseased and need help. In addition, we ordered food at the 8th hole, per the GPS tablet (which is awesome) and when we pulled up after the 9th hole, we found out the food wasn't available. The off course amenities don't match the level of a Ritz course.
