Interesting course with back nine having interesting, difficult and scenic holes.

Front nine is a traditional community golf course, meandering through a housing development. The back nine is a visual stunner, weaving through a quarry with an array of difficult holes. Staff were wonderful, very accommodating and welcoming. Tee times are spaced 7 minutes apart which crowds the course. Pace of play is problematic. We played the front nine in 2 hours, but the back nine took 2 hours and 40 minutes ( I guess 4 hours and 40 minutes would be acceptable for a public course , but I would assume we were lucky and I suspect that 5+ hour rounds aren't rare). Fairways were a little thin but very playable and the greens were ok, a little bumpy but not bad. This is a course you should definitely play at least once, but it will probably play slow and the back nine while very scenic, is quite challenging.

Fun course

Grass on fairways is very short and sparse in areas. Tees and greens in excellent shape.

Always fun and very scenic course!

Quarry Pines is an experience to play- both for the casual golfer as well as challenging for the hard core golfer.
A selection of t boxes allows for anyone other than a complete beginner to enjoy their day. The topography on the back 9 is stunning with lots of target and force carry shots. Requires strategy to not lose balls so make sure to stock up prior, just in case!

Too Slow DONT PLAY

I will not play this course again and would never recommend it. The course is very skinny and unforgiving and requires fairly accurate play. That would be fine/fun except this is a muni and it’s far too unforgiving for the average golfer. That combined with 8 minute tee times means you’re guaranteed a 5+ hr round. We had to wait 2-3 groups deep on half the tee boxes.

Add to that the conditions aren’t all that great (it’s like hitting off dirt on many of the fairways) and this is a hard pass for me.

All said and done this course is a waste of time and money under its current state. I will never come back unless they move to 10 minute tee times.

Great design, awful pace of play

The course has a really interesting design, in and out of the quarry. Course conditions were very good as well. What took away a lot from our round was the poor pace of play. The 7 minute tee times are just too tight and caused everything to back up . We waited on every shot, sometimes as long as 10 minutes.

Move to 9 minute tee times and charge a bit more and you will have much happier golfers. We won't be back unless things change, even though we love the course.

If only

If only they had a driving range, that would be great. Tee boxes were beat up. Other than that I really like the course.

Course is excellent in layout and condition. Starter beligerent about a ride along wife, which I paid extra cart fee for. When offering to show receipt he indicated No and then 10 minutes later questioned me again. I then showed my receipt and the attitude changed trying to be friendly and blaming the Pro shop for not advising him,
No cart girl on course, rules indicate no external food or beverage allowed. Went into dining room after nine and met with an abrupt staff girl having a personal phone conversation, was told it would take too long to prepare any food, bought bags of chips and left.

Lots of variety

Beautiful green fairways in the desert, unfortunately most of the front 9 was cut so short there may as well not be any grass at all since it was like hitting off dirt.
The back 9 was very fun with the elevation changes in the quarry.
Be prepared for some very narrow fairways on both 9s, on the front through houses and on the back also.
I would like to play it again, especially if they let the fairways grow long enough to have the ball sit up on the grass rather than hitting a mudball on so many shots.
The greens were in great shape.

Commish

Decent layout. Much better course from the back tees if you want to hit driver. Fairways are on the hard side. Greens were on the slow side - recently sanded. Would play again in a few weeks to get a second look.
