On back 9 Photo submitted by Lsj021 on 11/18/2012
GREAT FUN, LOVE the challenge!
We played Quarry Pines for the first time, and loved it. The course was in good condition, 106 degrees, so it was a little hot, but pace was outstanding, and we love the challenge of greens we play for the first time. Not fast, as they had done a little work, but they were far better than we expected. Can't wait until it's at it's best so we can enjoy faster greens and no holes in the fairways, but I would definitely play this tomorrow.
Good Course That Can Be Challenging
We don't the Pines as much as we once did, dur to our move farther away from the course. You will find that the front nine plays much differently than the back nine. The course is usually in good shape. We prefer to walk when we play, but would not recommend anyone walking the back nine (spacing between holes is much different than the front nine). Looking forward to playing the Pines again in the near future.
Nice improvement s
I like the new sand in the soundtracks, nice and fluffy,
They recently cut the grass real short, fertilized it, and it was real wet, which is needed to help the course get greener.
Fun, Strategic Layout That's Worth Playing
Quarry Pines is a really fun and memorable course that kept me engaged from the first tee to the last putt. This is definitely not a "grip it and rip it" type of course. Shot placement and course management matter, and every hole presents a different challenge.
It was my first time playing here, and I was fortunate to be paired with a regular who shared some great course-management tips. His advice probably saved me several strokes and made the round much more enjoyable. Without it, I could see how first-timers could get into trouble.
Considering it's summer in Arizona, the course conditions were decent overall. The fairways had some bare spots, which is understandable this time of year. The greens had recently been punched, so they weren't at their best. They also played inconsistently—some were noticeably faster than others, and the grass height varied from green to green, making it difficult to judge speed consistently.
Even with the summer conditions, the layout alone makes this course worth playing. I'd definitely come back, especially when the course is in peak condition.
June golf.
Love the course layout. Front 9 pretty straight forward back 9 lots of elevation changes so very fun. Greens were kind of chewed up for reseeding or something. Some bunkers were getting new sand so not usable. Fun course though. Good value.
Brown grass
We were not happy about all the dryed up grass in the fairways apron 40 present of the fairways was dried up brown grass for the price of t he green fees it should have been in resort condition. The greens were just ok they have been in better shape.
Greens are not good
The course definitely is coming around as far as the over all management but the greens are very desperate for resurrection. They are bare and weed infested no consistency the person cutting the cups is not replugging the cores properly and it creates horrible quality in the greens surface would love to do a membership but not till the greens are fixed ever since the ownership change everything got better just the greens got way worse
love dis place
Still no Driving range biggest drawback range has been gone for years its a challenge to go out stone cold
Course is in great shape
Got the earliest tee time to beat the heat and it was perfect. Course was in excellent shape. Back nine bunkers are all being repaired so it’s free relief from them right now which was fantastic
Summer in the desert
The course is showing the signs of summer in the desert. The greens were great. The fairways were spotchy
dry, poor greens
it's really very sad that such a beautiful layout has such poor greens and poor maintenance of their fairways.
