It''s Monsoons

Especially with regard to the back nine, this is one of the most unusual, yet intriguing designs of any course in Southern Arizona. It's definitely a target golf course, and a difficult one, too. If you can't consistently get the ball airborne or hit it straight, you'll have problems. Substantial forced carries, claustrophobically-narrow fairways, and unforgiving native areas are just some of the reasons why. Get out and play it anyway, though. It's a good one. If you're budget oriented, the rates are most affordable now. If you demand ideal conditions, however, this is not the time. Monsoons are here and it's taken its toll on the course, especially in the low-lying areas within the quarry and around the ponds. This is not unique to this course. A lot have taken a beating the last couple of weeks. Just keep in mind that Quarry Pines puts its best face on other times of year.

Played it before will return

I have played it before and I will return to play it again. Big fan of the layout the location of it right off the highway. The pro shop is choc full of awesome products from marvel themed golf balls to the standard shirts and hats with the ample space perfectly utilized. Staff friendliness is gold plated with Dave behind the counter along with his stellar attitude and sense of humor. The only minus isn’t directed to them but to the apartment renters who bullied the course into shutting down the driving range.

Disappointment

This golf club no longer has a driving range which shut down in 2018. The practice facility includes a two poor putting greens with no holes to put into. Just flags on the putting greens. The golf cart does not have ice cooler nor ball washer nor club washer.

The golf course had quite a bit of trash through out some of the holes. More so on the back nine. Some of the greens were in very poor condition. The fairways were okay overall. The best part about the Pines is the challenging holes. Lots of elevation and uniqueness to this course. The golf club could be great but it would need a lot of revamping. It has a lot of potential. It’s sad to see how it is now compared to 10-15 years ago. It was much nicer back in 2010 time frame.

Sad

It’s sad this course doesn’t deem proper maintenance. 1. Pins haven’t been routinely rotated, 2. I saw on Friday only one maintenance personnel, not enough. 3. Greens burning. Tee boxes almost totally destroyed. 4. A failed attempt to replace sod on the 7th fairway. Come on fellas you must prepare the substrate and fertilize it prior the laying the sod and don’t allow it to dry out. I’m sorry you haven’t. The course is unique in layout therefore difficult. . You won’t get away with much and I love it for that reason. I look forward to returning and seeing the improvements.

Beverages??????

Why is the no beverage cart or a driving range at a vacation destination spot. ?????
In all the heat today there was no Gatorade , water, or beers available. No place to practice driving either. The course was dry and poorly dressed greens.
Why are the restaurants at courses in Tucson so bad?

Great Tough Course

I try to play "The Pines" 4-5 times a year because i enjoy the challenges it provides. The front 9 is the "warm up" for the back 9. Not tough, but course management is key to scoring well. The back 9 is great! The holes present huge elevation changes and off camber lies. To score well requires accuracy and course management. Today the tee boxes had been aerated and the AZ heat has hurt the condition, but it was still in good shape. Staff, as always, was awesome. They are probably the best in Tucson.

Could be better

I am thankfully for golf now - the price that this course was charging for Father’s Day weekend was ridiculous. The grass is dead or missing is some spots. Large mud spots that my son slipped in going to his ball. I probably wouldn’t of golfed here if it wasn’t for golf now and their great prices. It was 115 degrees out - there is no reason to charge $65 per person when the course is not well maintained.
