The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
About
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain features 27 challenging holes that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Saguaro/Tortolita golf course is naturally named after its beautiful landscape of centuries-old Saguaro cacti nestled at the base of the Tortolita Mountain Range. The golf course meanders though desert washes covered in native flora and fauna. There are large greens that feature plenty of movement. The par-3 third hole on the Tortolita nine has the highest elevation of any at the golf club. There are also strategically placed fairway bunkers and a few forced carries.

Golfer Reviews
Dove Mountain during overseed
Dove mountain continues to be one of my favorites in Tucson. Saguaro and Tortolita were open and Tortolita was cart path only following overseed. Both courses looked and played well and the greens are always great. Bentgrass is still king in my book.
Nicklaus design ain't this hooker's cup of tea
Despite my dislike for Jack's design, this place is worth the trip from Scottsdale. Staff friendly, nice pace, good conditions, Saguaro and Tortolita out of overseed and very pretty in contrast with rugged Tortolita backdrop. Greens had nice speed and were smooth. Outside service was minimal but cart person attentive. Went to play golf not eat/drink. Good experience overall. Always is fun.
Typical Nicklaus Course
Wide fairways, difficult greens to hit, many raised, with big breaks. Condition was OK but not great. Snack shack closed.Greens on the slow side coming out of reseeding.Good but not great value and experience.
Nice place, bad timing
The first nine was being prepared for shut down and overseeding the next day, so it was in pretty rough shape, except the greens. The second nine had just been reopened after overseeding and was in nice shape, but cart path only. So there was hardly anyone else playing and we still had a long day of it. The staff was generally great and the place looks nice,. Some of the holes were very tricky, with washes running in front of small, undulating greens. The Saguaro nine is particularly scenic. We’ll come back someday and give it a proper test run.
Very challenging course
Tough course to play if your above a mid-handicapp (16).
Staff was awesome, carts w/GPS were great, extremely beautiful setting, just a "really hard to play course"
Easy to go OB (every hole), minefields of traps, greens for pro's.......
Great Layout
Dove Mountain has 3 nine hole courses and we played the Saguaro/Wild Burro mix. The course is challenging but has some generous landing areas. If you miss those areas however, you will be punished. The greens were running really true and not overly fast. The pace of play was great because we played late in the afternoon. Will play again.
Don’t trust leaving anything behind
I left my $400 range finder in my cart. I called 20 minutes after I left and no one could find it. I know exactly where I left it in the cart too.
Overseeding Transition
Got a bargain rate to play mid-day. Wild Burro about to be overseeded so fairways bone dry. Sagauro had just opened after overseeding and fairway grass growing in very nicely. Greens were much slower than expected which was disappointing. Like the layout, challenging but overall fair. Very hot today (104) and no shade anywhere on the course. Would play it again but not for their typically high green fees.
GPS on carts a great help for determining distances to fairway bunkers except they showed wrong pin placements on greens. Oh well.
Disappointed with treatment by staff. When arrived cart person urged me to share a cart. I said when we booked our 4some (of senior citizens from different households) we were told individual carts were available. He reluctantly pointed me to a cart.
In Season
I am sure the course is in better condition in Season than it was today, 1st 9 was cart path only and the fairway grass was like rough, the second nine was not cart path only, fairways were firm and fast. The greens on both nines were probably a 4 on the stimpmeter, may be because of the heat.
Dove Mountain during overseeding
Tortolita was closed for overseeding, but Saguaro and Burro were open. Burro was normal and preparing for overseeding. Saguaro has been overseeded and was surprisingly in great shape. The greens (bentgrass) on both courses were excellent. The staff were their typical friendly and very service-priented. It is always a priveledge to play these courses and converse with the staff.
