Legacy Ridge Country Club

About
Bonham’s newest golf course has the natives all excited about their new Bill Johnston design, created to serve as the centerpiece of a unique residential community. With the benefit of several unique landscapes at his disposal, Johnston built a front nine that starts high and weaves through lakes and waterfalls, smoothly transitioning into a parkland-style route highlighted by pecans and oaks.
The par 5 No. 9 stands out on the front, taking you back up the ridge with an approach shot into an almost cliffside green nestled against the lake.
The wetlands of Bois d’ Arc Creek line the back nine fairways, keeping water in play most of the nine. Johnston made this one fun with multiple approach shots over water, including one par 3 that plays into an island green.
Do what you can to work your way onto this course, because it’s rare to experience such a quality course in such an enjoyable, rural setting.
Getting there : From McKinney, take US 75 north to the Bonham 121 exit. Hwy. 121 merges into Hwy. 56 south of Bonham. Turn right on Hwy. 82 E.

Fun course
First time playing the course. Found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Fairways were in good shape and very playable. The greens are another story. Most greens were overtaken be weeds, crabgrass, or poa Anya. And most greens were 20 dirt. They need help. That all said it was a fun course, and a great value. Will be back for sure.
Dont’t Play…Just Don’t
From the time we checked in, the front desk woman was extremely unprofessional and unfriendly, had to pay a full golfers fee for a guest who had no clubs and was just a spectator (even though there was an open seat in a cart and it was a threesome)), you can only hit irons on the driving range, no food (other than hot dog…because they are still “recovering from COVID setbacks)”or alcoholic beverages, no beverage cart and the course conditions are horrible. See pictures of the dead greens. Don’t waste the money…play somewhere else.
Great course!
It’s a great course. One of the best in a 50 mile radius. Enjoy going there @ least once a week. Some of the greens are starting to get bad but it happens
Front & Back Different Condition
The front 9 is in good shape. The back 9 needs a lot of TLC. From the tee boxes to the greens really need some care.
Hidden gem in north DFW
Great course, great value, great pace of play for weekend booking.
The tees and fairways on all holes was excellent. The greens by and large were good as well, they all rolled true, for conditions these were the only down spot as some had some rough spots and a lot of pick marks. If not for this I’d have put a 5 for conditions.
Staff is friendly, electric cart was comfy, smooth, and quick. Water is featured on every hole but the course is actually pretty friendly to the average golfer, I really like it and will play again.
Interesting but need TLC
Course layout was interesting- 2 different 9's, 1 river bottom, with lots of ponds/water, the other 9, higher/ dryer with fairways lined with big Oaks. But course conditions really need some TLC, i.e.. many holes had dead spots in greens, and some fairways had lots of weeds, but about 60% of holes were in decent shape. Good value course, but they could charge more if they spent more on conditioning.
This place and staff are awesome!
The staff the course and the carts were awesome!
No complaints!
Great Course and Staff
My friends and I had a really good experience here. We had 5 and they let us all play together. There is a lot of water here, but if you play smart, you can easily avoid it. Greens ran a little slow than what I am used to. Only issue I had was not being able to warm up with woods or driver at the range, but I didn’t let that hinder my experience. Definitely worth a play if you are in the area!
Nice country course
Some short par 4s and many holes to score well on . course was in pretty good shape and fun to play
The tale of 2 nines.
The front 9 was in rough shape due to recent flooding. The back 9 was great.
Friendly staff and fun little course
Was my first time playing the course. Driving range hitting area was not the greatest and the course was pretty flooded in the front 9 but it had rained like crazy for the day or two prior to my round.
Front nine had a ton of water hazards to play around. Back nine was very wooded. Was pretty cool to have two totally different feels to the same course.
Would play there again for sure.
Very nice staff
Excessive rain lately must be considered in this review. Fairways were quite tall like rough. Most greens were fine but a couple were in pretty bad condition. Overall condition was below my general speciations. That being said, they were some of the kindest and accommodating staff I have interacted with.
