Awesome scenery and layout
Awesome course but the grass on the greens were a little long could have been cut shorter, made for a rough day of reading speeds of putts.
Pleasantly Surprised
Very nice hidden gem in the swamp land of southern Louisiana. Clubhouse and scenery on the course is beautiful. Staff was great. Course Marshall was on top of everything. He checked on us 3 or 4 times throughout our round to make sure we weren't being held up by the group ahead of us but he was on them as well and kept us all on pace so there was no issues. I was truly surprised at what a nice course it was out in the middle of nowhere. Bunkers could use some work as some of them were unplayable but then again I shouldn't have been in the bunker in the first place. Greens were soft allowing for aggressive shots at the pins and the ball would stop on a dime and spin back. They also were surprisingly fast for being so soft. Hackers beware; you will lose lots of balls on this course. If you have good control of your ball then it's really not all that hard of a course. The par 3's are long but the greens are huge. Pretty much all the greens are huge. Birdies are certainly attainable and relatively close par putts were routine on this course.
Go check it out!
Almost a great course
The course has a wonderful layout save 2 holes. It could be a magnificent course if they paid attention to the course details. The rough around the greens was sparse and the bunkers were not freshly raked. Otherwise, we had a fantastic experience. The club house is unique, and The food is beyond restaraunt quality. Also, we saw gators, raccoons, armadillos, and other various wildlife.
Great layout
Enjoyed playing this great course. Love the layout! Very nice staff and the food in the restaraunt is great.
this course was awesome
Have nothing but good things to say.
Awesome course throughout
great experience
Great atmosphere and awesome food. Truly an enjoyable place to play.
This course is near Houma
A good 18-hole course near Houma which is affordable for the average and below average golfer.
Expected More
Looking to get away for the day, decided to take a 1.5 hr trip to Atchafalaya golf course. Seeing that Golf Digest ranked Atchafalaya in the top 10 courses of Louisiana, my expectations were high. Saw pictures of the golf course online and expected it to be beautiful, which it was, for the first nine. Every picture taken of this golf course must be of the front nine. The back nine just looked less taken care of, and less scenic than the front. Amazing clubhouse which probably heightens its ranked a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice golf course, but courses like TPC, Carter Plantation, and Lakewood offer more for less money. Side note: friendliest staff and employees I have ever met at a golf course.
New Modern golf course
Has a friendly staff at the pro shop and in the restaurant. Course has an excellent golf range with practice chipping and putting areas. Very enjoyable visit.
A little disappointed
I thought the first few holes were beautiful. I especially liked #3. By the time I'd played a few holes on the back 9, I was thinking this course is a bit overrated. Surely there would be other courses within the same distance from New Orleans that would better capture the unique feeling of this region. All those expectations of mine aside, a solid and challenging golf course. Would come again if in the area, but wouldn't bother with a special trip this way.
I love the challenge that this course presents...those greens!
It's always great to play this track. It is a great layout and the green speed on this day were fast even after the rain the night before.
Thanks to the staff who outfitted my brother with a quality set of rental clubs. Each time we get to come home, this is the place to play...and eat.

Beautiful course
It's a hike from anywhere to get here but once you're here you'll be happy you came. The Atchafalaya is all the golf you want. Challenging with tough greens, the course is also gorgeous with wildlife and flora. I appreciated that even though the course is in great shape I still saw areas that were getting some attention to improve the course. The course is difficult but fair - there aren't tricks to it; you have to play the shots designer Robert von Hagge intended you to play. In that regard it is very much like other von Hagge courses I've played. I enjoyed the work the superintendent has put in - the course is vibrant, the greens are true and the layout is solid. I didn't have an opportunity to sample the fare in the clubhouse, but as we pulled in to play people were waiting to be seated for lunch at the restaurant, so I assume it's quite the menu they have there as well. The clubhouse is a beautiful if oversized Acadian cottage, with a wraparound porch. It overlooks the double green of 9 & 18 and sits up so you can see quite a bit of the layout. There isn't much negative to say about the course - I wish it was closer to me so I could play it more!
Atchafalaya
Excellent course. Great driving range. Course cut out of Louisiana swamp land.
Very challenging
This is a good course except for one par 5 we called it the s par 5, I don't remember the number but if you play it you will know it. The greens had been aerated a week before and were a touch slow but still putted ok, it was an enjoyable round.
Fees incl ALL-DAY golf!
Level tees, contoured fairways & greens. Long par 3's, 3 @ 200+ yds. Aerated greens a few wks ago w/out sand, so still kinda bumpy. GPS carts! if you're w/in an hr's drive, play it!
Afatchalaya Golf Course
The greens were just recently punched but were coming back nicely. Fairways were nice and plush. I really liked the way the course was laid out. I would definitely play this course again very soon. Not too many courses to compete with in the area but you definitely get your money's worth. I highly recommend this course. This was also the first time I played a round in Louisiana. Very pleased...
A great bayou setting.
The course was aerated last week but still played well. The greens are very challenging and the fairways have strategically placed bunkers they I found often. I drove 80 miles from NOLA to play and would not hesitate to do it again.
Needs grass in fairway - appears it hasn't been watered.
Aeration in progress when we arrived - we had to wait and skip around several holes - we did not finish our round. Had we known this information prior to booking, we would have chosen a different course.
The course is very picturesque
My buddy and I played on a Saturday on Easter weekend and it was very crowded. They were able to get us off earlier than our scheduled tee time and was very accomidating. The course was in great condition. I have played here on several occasions and have really enjoyed it every time.
My favorite course
Atchafalaya is my favorite course. Great setting, challenging holes, very good fairways and greens. I wish it cost less, but I guess it would not be so good if it did. BTW, I'm a 7 handicap.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
Another review on the occasion of my second visit... The course was soaked from some serious rain they've been getting in the area. The course was harder than I remember it, but the wet conditions had a lot to do with that. The greens hadn't been cut due to the rain, and the fairways were hairy as well. To be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much. I found the green on 7 to be contrived, something like goofy golf. And overall, forgetting the wet conditions, the greens were not in top shape at all. Hoping this was just an aberration. I'd still go back and I'd still recommend it though.
