Great layout, okay condition

Greens were good but they are getting aerated May 2nd. Fairways were just okay. Grass wasn't too lush.

Love the layout and staff was extremely friendly. Great clubhouse as well.

Great course, great deal and great time

I enjoyed the course and the Atchafalaya experience. It's tough but beautiful. I enjoyed the abundant wildlife. I would highly recommend this course. Also the restaurant has great food. Thanks again.

One of a Kind!

Entire course in great shape! Greens were excellent, fairways were a little tight, but overall really good. Staff was very friendly. We had lunch, which was delicious! Recommend catfish poboy! However, any item on the menu is a winner!

Wonderful Course - "Beautiful"

This is an outstanding dunes type course. The front nine is absolutely beautiful. Very challenging, and perfectly laid out. The greens were trimmed and fast, the fairways were in great shape. One of the prettiest nine holes I have played. The back nine is challenging but does not have the beauty of the front. It is great shape, well kept, and great play. Just not as spectacular as the front. This will be a course that I play whenever I am in the Morgan City area.

Great layout

The course was in great shape. Everyone went out of their way to take care of us from the moment we pulled up until we left. Think it is one of the top five courses in the state. It was well worth the hour drive to play the course.

Perfect course and conditions

My friend and I are always looking out for a bargain and boy did we land one at Atchafalaya at Idlewild on November 14, 2015. We could not have asked for better weather or course conditions than we had that day. Fairway was immaculate and the greens were fast and true. And paying $20 for a $70 dollar a round course made everything even sweeter. Be prepared for a challenge when you play and good food and staff when you're done. Kudos to Atchafalaya!!!

Beautiful Scenery

It was my first time playing this course and it will not be the last. It has everything you think of when thinking about Louisiana. Outstanding scenery, wildlife and camouflage golf carts. The carts or equipped with big GPS monitors with touch screens for yardages to whatever you point you need. Nice size greens and several challenging holes (#7).

Needs Better managment

I played the course 3 years ago and the greens were terrible. I was told last week that the green have much improved so we decided to give it another try. The course as a whole is spectacular as before how ever there are still a lot of issues for a course that describes it's self as the premier course in Southern Louisiana.
Our tee time was 09:10 and we teed off just before that. As soon as we reached our balls in the fairway a one ball appeared on the tee, tee up and started taking practice strokes. As soon as we were out of range he teed off. There was a 4 ball in front of us and we could not go any faster but this guy was up out butts the whole time until he finally jumped in front of us and the four ball on the 7 hole.
The greens had all been sanded that morning and were having sand added as the day want on. this made EVERY green horrible to put on. The tractor he had to pull the sanding machine was missing the muffler and it sounded like a drag racer careering around the course. This was very annoying as as you tried to tee off and the driver had no respect for players. Just barreled on through regardless.
I was in 3 bunkers on the front 9. The first two I ended up in footprints, the third bunker i was in to the left of the approach to the 9 green I was in a footprint that was in a tractor tire track. The tire track was about 40 foot long running half the length of the bunker.
The first 6 holes on the back nine did not have tee box markers on ANY of the tees. The bunker on the par 3 11th had been dug out by some sort of excavator. The were not marked as GUR in any way.
On finishing we decided to go to the restaurant for a drink and something to eat. We were seated at a table then were totally ignored. After about 12 minutes of no service what so ever we got up and sat at the bar. We did get served here and the food was good.
This could be a wonderful facility and could make a lot of money but I now understand why the club is in financial stress. The course management is atrocious. People do not want to spend good money to play a course in such poor condition. It will be a very long time before I venture there again!

Day Road Trip

Drove in from NOLA to play another course on the Audobon Trial. Beautiful course especially the front 9 and excellently maintained. Even the typical summer rain during play did not hinder us. Some of the sand bunkers held water from the rain shower. The greens were gorgeous and gave us just the right amount of challenge without being too difficult. We had a laugh over the camouflaged carts! All of the staff were very helpful and extremely personable especially the lady that helped me buy three pieces of clothing in the pro/gift shop! The selection of ladies apparel surprised me! Proud that Louisiana has such a unique golf course to offer for all to enjoy!!!!

Awesome

I am currently playing my way through the Audubon Trail in Louisiana and found my favorite stop so far. I walked into the main foyer to find a large wait. The course has a restaurant that was PACKED at lunch. I found out why when I made the turn, food was amazing. Staff was one of the best I have encountered. Course was a little soggy due to rain but was still a great round. They were mowing (it was a Monday) so that stirred up the wasps. Bug spray is a must. But if you are playing in South Louisiana you knew that already. I will be going back.

Great layout. Could be kept up better

Love the layout. Very challenging course and worth the drive for me. Greens weren't in bad shape. They need to blow off all of the excess grass on the tee boxes and get the rough in better shape. Rough is nothing but weeds

Disappointed

Course condition was sub-par. Greens and bunkers were terrible. Condition is falling and our group will not return at full price ($73). Too bad because we like the layout. The workers in the club house are very nice and the restaurant is very good.

Not very well manicured

Day did not start out well when we were told only 9 homes were open due to sanding of the greens. So we had to play the front 9 multiple times. Noticed a large truck spreading what appeared to be some sort of dusty chemical on the mounds surrounding the driving range. On #1 fairway we saw signs of large wide tire marks on the fairway. Not possible to play the ball as it lies as a result.
The tee boxes did not appear to have been mown recently. We played on Thursday and the weather had been perfect all week so no idea why tee boxes should have been shaggy.
In the rough and on the mounds surrounding the greens were various types of weeds that were at least a weeks growth high.
Easy to see why they were punching and sanding the greens. Several greens had signs of bare spots.
Maybe if the course was manicured it could live up to its reputation. The layout is challenging. Just wish it had been in better shape. At a good rate I would give it a 2nd chance next time I am in the area and hope for better conditions.

Really going down hill and fast

This used to be a remarkable track, great greens and etc. I have never seen it in this bad of shape, greens are slow and hairy, tee box's are like rough anywhere else, just totally lost and must be going broke, not worth the $, drive to Latour or the Nola or Lafayette area, I will not be back or recommend anyone to play here until conditions are 110% better.
