The Golf Club At Oxford Greens

Course was in great shape even though it appeared greens had been aerated recently (filled in with sand). Staff was accommodating, got us out in open slot between ongoing Golf tournament. No one for 2 holes in front of us and no one playing up quickly behind, it was perfect weather and perfect pace. Felt like private course. The slope of some of the holes especially the Scoundrel always make the course a unique challenge!

I played the Oxford Greens with my brother. The course conditions were good. The greens weren't very fast. They were medium speed. Very challenging pin placement. Lot of blind spots. Playing from the blacks is very long! I suggest playing from the whites and blues. Staff and cart girl you know who you are you were great. The cart guy was great as well. Tee boxes were seeded great and same with the fairways.The course plays and favors for players with a draw on there drives. If your a fade player it can be challenging with the lies. Definitely suggest playing here if your a local or in the area traveling.

Fairways were narrow on many holes so rough always comes into play. Staff seemed to make extra effort to ensure rounds was fun, from 'cookout girl' on 9th hole to pro shop staff. I would play here again just based upon staff.

Started the round 20 minutes after scheduled tee time and the pace was extremely slow had to leave the course before round was complete to make my appointment on time

I consider this my "home" course as I play here between 12 and 15 times a season. Do yourself a favor and get yourself an Advantage card. If you work it out you only have to play 4 or 5 times to get your money's worth. Anyway about the course. The greens are always firm and fast and can take a beating (NO one seems to repair pitch marks these days). The course has a consistent right to left tilt especially on the fairways. The course has a links feel in a woodsy setting and many shots from the tee and on approach are pure target golf. The cart staff is incredibly friendly and every one of the bar staff (you know who you are!) treat you like old friends. I love it here. My only gripe is that the course is becoming overrun with pop up residences and some of my favourite holes which at one time were encapsulated by trees no are decidedly less aesthetic. Oh.. and the bunkers are dirt, you are better off chipping out than using a traditional approach.

One of the best,mif not the best, public courses in CT. Extremely long, and challenging, most go,fears will want to play the white tees. The most intimidating feature is the narrow layout, closely followed by lots of well-placed traps (some of them almost pot-bunker style with high walls). Many fairway traps will also add to your challenge.

Course condition was outstanding. A nice touch is the outdoor BBQ at the 9th tee.

The entire course was cart paths only which made for an extremely long round. You'd have to bring half your bag with you for every shot because of unknown yardages. We had a threesome in front of our foursome and still managed to wait on every shot. The course was in great shape. The greens were phenomenal, fast and true. But pace of play is always the issue here. 5-6 hour rounds are the norm, even when its not cart paths only. You'd think for $80 they wouldn't try and cram in tee times every 7 minutes, but thats what happens. Love the course, but the pace is not worth the money you spend.

I'm a local and play Oxford 4-5 times a year. It's a great design but plagued with some poor management. My issues this year have been with bunker maintenance, cart management, and pace of play. It seems the bunkers are groomed no more than once or twice a week, which is poor for a good charging a premium rate. More often than not, ball is in a rain rut or footprint in bunker. I've had issues with afternoon rounds-no carts available and required, or a cart that doesn't have enough battery to complete the round and we have to call into pro shop for replacement. It would seem a company like Billy Caspar Golf would have enough working equipment to support play. Lastly, rounds here can be brutally slow. I played one weekend afternoon and it took 5:20. I spoke to the ranger twice and he said there was a tourney ahead and he wasn't going to do anything about it. Long rounds are the norm here.

Good news is nice layout - generous fairways, fast undulating greens, good mix of short and long holes. Greens can be hard at times and won't hold an approach if it hasn't rained in a while. It could be one of the best public tracks in CT with some care and attention. I don't know if they don't want to invest in maintenance (bunkers/carts) or just poorly managed.

The course is hilly and plays long. Even from the white tees it's 6350 yards. Interesting lay out with a nice variety of types of holes. The holes with cart path only are tough, especially if you are in the opposite of the fairway or rough. This contributes to the slow pace of play. The locals seem to accept it but I found it annoying. The greens are fast but consistent. You need to allow for more break than you normally would. If you hit the ball too firm and miss the hole, you could be 6-10 feet past it. It would be nice if they had a course guide book available to better understand how the holes play. I wish the pin flags were different colors based on their placement. The card shows four pin areas for every green. If you live east of Waterbury allow more time to get to the course. The mixmaster construction on I-84 is brutal.

This course is kept in great shape. The fun layout makes every shot a relatively challenging one, but never made me (average at best) feel like I was at a disadvantage. Went after work at 630 pm to get a quick 9 holes in before dark, but only managed to play 4 holes because the twosome in front of us was playing at an unbearably slow pace. Other than that group, this is a great course.

There are some design issues with this course with the major one being the 3rd green. Thee tees are in terrible condition which could be solved with more frequent rotation of the markers. No convenient way to get something to eat. It took over an hour to get a hot dog from the cart girl. Needless to say the hot dog was cold and the fries were colder.

Everything was fine except the slow, slow play. For a Thursday and not very busy, should not have to wait every hole. No ranger in sight to speed things up.

Little bit expensive vs. most in CT. Greens are fast. Holes are challenging, course is long! Played on a Tuesday 8:30am, rained a few hours before still fast greens for the most part which raised my score. I am a beginner at best but never exceeded 7 strokes on a few holes. Hit all the greens on the par 3's. There seems to be more room along the fairways than some have previously mentioned even with my slice.. lol.. Not sure how weekend rounds would be. Def more expensive and at least 5 hours as it took us 4.5 on a slow Tuesday. Would play again for the right price.

Championship level golf course at 78 dollars for a twosome cart included. Track generally in good condition with some worn patches. Fast greens. Some teeshots look intimidating but have much wider landing areas than can be seen from the teebox. Use of a forecaddy would greatly improve play for first round. Challenging and fun par 3s. You need every club in the bag for this course.

This was our first time playing this course and we experienced a great round of challenging golf. The design and course layout are terrific and you are constantly challenged to use different shots and club selections. This is not a driver and wedge only course.

The course was in great shape and the greens offer a nice challenge. Highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to experience a challenge on a well maintained course.
