Second hole, par-3, 182 (blues). A challenging tee shot, yet the hole becomes tougher when you land a good distance from the pin. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

Fourth: The number 3 index, this par-4 or 424 will test your skills from tee to cup. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The par-3 ninth plays 197 yards from the blues. Its green is positioned and shaped like a Redan hole, but without the right-to-left cant. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

Chuck, a good driver of the golf ball, prepares to tee off at the number 1 index hole at Oxford Greens, the par-4 twelfth. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The twelfth is named “Double Plateau” for its green, which means that the putting surface actually has three elevations. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

The fourteenth, a par-4 of 418 with water on the left, is named “Plead,” and you may well find yourself begging it for mercy before putting out. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/21/2023

18th, par-4, 458: You’ll need to commit to your full swing (twice) to play a hole tagged with the name “Trust In.” Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

16th: The short par-3 of 170 lives up to its moniker: “Fortress.” It’s green complex is built like one. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

An earlier, summertime picture taken of the first hole, called “Road Out,” gives a glimpse of a green sided by a road (behind) and a pesky pot bunker. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

The sixth–a.k.a. the “Red Oaks”--is index 13, but will still present a few problems enroute to a drive-and-pitch par. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

“Timberlake” is hole seven, and the hole is all about avoiding the trees and playing some tricky angles from tee to green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

Eight: “Turtle” is a long par-five of 570 that can snap at you. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2021

Golfer Reviews
Stay away from cart path only days!!
Good Course/Good Condition.
They don't tell you cart paths only unless you ask... never play here, if it is cart paths only...majority of holes of slope away from cart paths unless you enjoy hilly long walks back/forth and a 5+ hour round.
In pro shop...they insisted that carts be returned by 5:30pm which they claimed is sunset! Unless Oxford CT has their own day light savings scheduled separately from entire east coast...sunset in CT at this time of year is approx. 6:30pm ! I debated this with them but they insisted twice, that I was wrong...needless to say the "rocket scientist" who proclaimed that 5:30pm was sunset...came speeding around the course on his cart asking everyone to come in early...not enabling many to finish 18. The ranger was great though, did his best to move players along faster and let a lot of us to continue to play past Oxford's "sunset"!!
I'M HUNGRY
EXCELLENT COURSE, GREAT CONDITIONS, FAST GREENS. STAFF FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL FOR THE MOST PART. IF YOU ARE PLAYING THERE LATE MORNING BE PREPARED TO SKIP ANY LUNCH. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GET FOOD AT THE TURN AND THEY HAVE CARTS WITH JUST SNACKS ROAMING THE COURSE. WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE GRILLING AT THE 9TH HOLE, HOWEVER THEY HAD LEFT FOR THE DAY. I SUGGEST YOU PACK A LUNCH AND BRING IT TO THE COURSE. THIS IS THE ONLY DISAPPOINTING THING AT THIS COURSE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED OTHERWISE
Nice layout watch the slopes.
I loved the design and flow of the layout, conditions were above average for a public facility Greens rolled nicely.. Staff was excellent and courteous. Players please repair your ball marks and replace divots. There was a little to much construction noise on the front nine which to me is a small nuisance Couple of small issues, one is the cart paths are not close to the forward tees an issue for the women in our group and most of the fairways sloped right to left(except #17). Also ninth hole is a distance from the clubhouse if you need to make a stop at the turn. Will come back to play again overall a great experience
Kudos to the staff for going above and beyond as my playing partner left his car keys in the cart, I drove and when we got to my home an hour away he realized no keys. He lives in R.I. two hours from the course, someone there dropped the keys off at his house two days later GREAT SERVICE
Nice layout...poor conditions and poorly run
Shame that this nice layout suffers from poor management (can't get anyone out on time, rangers are clueless, have no idea how to help keep things moving, spot tee shots, etc.) and poor conditions. GM claims staff has been decimated due to budget cuts. Heaven forbid they groom the bunkers.
Fast & Best Greens
In my opinion, these greens are perfect, Fast and true, The traps and the whole course is in excellent condition. You'll need to hit fairly long and fairly straight to score low here.Oxford is more challenging than other top notch courses in Ct until you learn where to land your shots. I really enjoyed the challenge playing here and loved the course conditions. The price is more reasonable than it used to be so it's better value now too. I'll be back, Wish they would allow carts in the lot.
Better Than Most
Absolutely wonderful facility, top to bottom. From the bag drop through the pro shop, really good friendly service. When you leave a place and remember meeting the bag drop guy and the assistant in the pro shop because they were friendly and professional that is a good thing. My friends and I have a lot experience in the golf industry both public and private. We just wanted somewhere reasonably priced,in fair to excellent condition, with excellent greens if possible, with cold beer,to beat on each other for a few hours. That is actually a great deal to ask in the golf world. That is however, exactly what we got.I would tell everybody and their mother you have got to play here. The condition of the course is as good as any public golf course anywhere for the dollar. With due respect, if we all knew what it takes to run such a facility you would say the same thing. My only complaint would be about the other guests who play this wonderful golf course,ok not ALL of them just most. Now they want what my foursome and every other foursome wants, quality and value in a nice setting. So they come and play and if even remotely possible, everyone of them forgot their PITCHMARK TOOL!!!!!How in the name of the father can you people live with yourselves?A golf course is living and breathing thing. When you are fortunate enough to hit a shot properly and it flies through the air and hits the green causing so much as a friggin scuff mark ,YOU FIX IT!AND FIX THE DIVOT YOU TOOK.Be more aware and do the right thing always on the course. It is our duty to help maintain our courses as much as we can.So anyway,PLAY HERE NOW it is a really great track and great facility. Sincerely, Brian McKinley Ps. Timmy says the beer was cold!
Good course
Course is a good design. Beginners will struggle here as there are many demanding tee shots and it is easy to look foolish on the greens, which are contoured and very fast. Many of the green to tee walks are too far to make walking possible. This is a top 5 public course in the state and worth a few rounds a year.
Challenging day with a lot of interesting shots!
Perfect conditions
Unfortunately we chose the day they decided to use 8" cups which made is uninteresting to putt. But it may have sped up the pace of play since we didn't have to wait on any holes. It might have been better to have 2 cups on the green. But the course is in great shape!
Tough course
The course was in great shape. The greens were beautiful. There were too many blind shots. I would say if your handicap is 14 or better you would like this course.
GC at Oxford Greens
Great course, Staff was terrific, had a great time.
Good coarse - Can be better
Good layout and environment to play a round. Sand traps are poorly maintained. Have to rake and replace the ball before playing. Most disappointing is their policy of having a squeeze time that slowed the play. Had to wait for a shot on 15 of the 18 holes. Made the Sunday long esp. after driving over an hour to get there. They were 2 players and I did not see the group in front of them until the 18th hole. Spoke with Ranger but did not move the play along. Complained about the squeeze time slowing down the play and basically was told that's the way it is. Would have enjoyed the day and the play much more if this did not exist and staff more responsive. Coarse can be much better with better maintenance.
Great public course
Greens are in great condition, layout is gorgeous and challenging... One of the best public courses I have played.
Fathers Day
Course is was very nice and challenging. The rough was high so keep ball in fairway. Enjoyed the course greens were fast some traps were flooded and the others lacking sand.
Most Underrated Course in Connecticut
I've gone out of my way to make sure I play this track at least once a year. It might be one of the best values around if you're wiling to make the drive.
The course is very challenging, long and interesting. The conditions are currently better than any time I can remember. The fairways are like carpets - impeccable. The rough is thick and lush. The greens are rolling around a 12 - insane for any public (or private) course. If you're not below the hole, you're almost definitely looking at a three putt. It's just a different style of golf than you're likely used to. At $51 for a weekend afternoon tee time, the value can't be beat.
The only sad part of this course is the construction. Not only is there a ton of it going on right off the fairways, the homes they are building are cookie cutter and totally unflattering. Simply put, the golf course is too nice for what they're building, and the homes completely take away from the quality and caliber of the course. I wish they weren't developing it out like they are.
All in all, you will NOT be disappointed here. What an incredible track that continues to improve. Do yourself a favor and play it!
You have to play this one
The course was in excellent condition. The greens roll true and are fast. Keep your ball in the fairway or you will pay the price. All the holes are great, when you're playing a hole you will not see any other hole until you go to the next tee. The course is a gem.
Great layout
Great layout. Nice surroundings except there is a lot of housing construction going on.
Best in Ct
Over the past 5 years or so, Oxford has become one of the best courses in Ct. Conditions are always good, greens are fast and true, and the layout is fair but challanging. Driving range is grass (at least on weekends). Staff is very friendly.
very nice course
very good shape for early in the season, always friendly staff. greens very fast but true. the 3rd hole probably the hardest par 5 in the state.
Great Course at a fair price
Oxford Greens is a fantastic public course. The layout is beautiful and is very challanging from the blue or black tees. The greens are almost in perfect condition. They will be in another 2-3 weeks with better weather on the way. The pro shop guys are helpful as well as the 19th hole waitress. Would highly recomend this course for the better than average golfer.
