Course is in great condition.
Very welcoming staff, great sale prices on everything in the pro shop - I picked up a dozen Nike and a dozen Callaway golf balls for $22. Course played very fair and the greens ran pretty quick.
Cost
Pricing was not comparable with other tee time sytems. This did not save me money. Had to ask for Senior Pricing. Managers were aloof.
Excellent course
This course is challenging, but fun to play. It is in great shape. Easy access from Liberty to Lee's Summit.
Love the course
Winterstone is quite a drive for me but I love the course and so make the effort 3/4 times a year. The course was in good condition with the exception of a few greens. Fairways were great. Marshals were very friendly. However, I am a member of "The Club". I overheard both staff and some course regulars ranting/blaming pace of play(which they felt was slow) on members of "The Club". It was offensive. I waited on most all shots but was also self aware that I was playing in a three-some of golfers who hit the ball pretty consistently in the fairway. It is a tough enough course with some pretty narrow landing spots that appeared to me to be giving some guys a rough time.
Scenic. Interesting Layout.
Scenic and hilly course. Enough of a challenge to keep it interesting, but not brutally difficult. Fairways and tee boxes in great shape. Greens recently aerated, so somewhat rough. Several greens had scattered bare spots as well.
Not recommended for walkers
Nice course. Left to right, right to left, elevation changes, traps and water. Everything in the right amount of proportion. Several long walks from green to tee. Plenty of water jugs and ball washers. Many back nine greens had recently been aerated and top dressed so the greens were very slow and didn't have much break. Glad I didn't pay full price. I'll probably look for another discount and play again in a few weeks when all the greens have had time to recover.
This course is always a challenge.
The course in one of the nicest around the area, the green were just a little rough from the maintenance, but overall a great course.
Greens
While understand that course maintenance is a necessary evil. Letting people know before they book a time that you have aerated the greens. And putting would be at best impossible. You should still let people know before they commit to play the course.
Always in good shape!
Great course and value, keep on your Golf Now list.
Course in good shape but pace of play was far too slow.
Don't let the short distance from the white make you shy away from playing in forward. There are enough narrow fairways and rolling greens to keep you on your toes.
This is a shot makers course that requires that you play to your shot. The yardage book for a buck is a great help.
I walked the course and found the up and down a challenge but the layout is overall good for walking.
What a waste of an afternoon!
Cart path only ruling when the course was COMPLETELY dry. As a result a 3.75 hr round of golf became 5+ hrs. Pin placements were insane. In the group in front of us one "gentleman" 8 putted (!) the 18th green. Before play our group was genuinely excited about playing this truly exciting course. Afterwards we were sorely anguished. TRULY anguished. A wonderfully anticipated outing gone COMPLETELY southward. What a shame.
This course was beautiful and maintained very well though was overbooked.
The course itself was 18 holes of fun and challenging pin locations at the end of a numerous elevation changes. I enjoyed the course, though I did not enjoy the pace of play. Every other hole there would be 4 different groups on one hole due to what the course said was over booking online. Tee times at 9:36, 9:37, 9:38 etc..having other groups breathing down your neck took away much of the enjoyment for the day. Every time our group of 4 finished a hole we would be waiting on the group of 3 ahead of us to tee off so it wasn't like we were playing slow, neither were they as they had a group ahead of them. I just found it very frustrating and won't be going back anytime soon.
A must play in Kansas City.
The course is in great shape. It's a great layout to play and after the round it has a great place to relax and view several holes out on the course.
One of the best courses in the KC metro area. A must play.
Excellent course that will challenge all parts of your game. Greens are well maintained with excellent speed and subtle breaks. Don't expect a lot of flat lies in the fairways as the rolling terrain and hills leave uneven lies that really test your game. Really enjoyable round of golf and will for sure be playing this course again.
Great course
I have always liked this course and would play it more often but live over 30 miles away and don't always have time to get there. Winterstone is very well maintained course that has a lot of little challenges especially from elevation changes. One of the better public courses around the metro.
Enjoyed the overall experience
The course had interesting holes and the greens rolled very true. The elevation changes made it challenging. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the course.
The only issue was the rule of the day. Everyone was required to start on the 10th hole. Once we completed that side and made the turn to number one, we were in a line behind the men's league. After a few groups teed off we talked to the marshal and he allowed us to tee off sandwiched between the groups in the league. This caused the slow play since we were twosome placed in between several foursomes. We played according to the tempo and enjoyed the scenery and beauty of the location. I would play there again.
have always like this course, first time this year...very nice.
busy beautiful day for end of June so,carts were all out,had to wait as golfers came off eighteen to get a cart,,therefore late start,,but other than that enjoyed.
1st time on this course -will return
First time on this course. I had heard good things about it, and am glad I got the opportunity. Very, very well maintained course, in nice shape. Challenging without being impossible. Yardages were appropriate, and the pace of play, for a Sunday afternoon was good. We like to play at a little faster pace, but, overall, just over 4 hrs on a sunday is OK. Will definitely try it again, if we can get a decent rate, again.
Nice way to spend a Monday afternoon
Nice course, challenging shots with lots of risk for rewards, well maintained
Give this GM a raise......GREAT COURSE
This is a excellent course and deserves more recognition.
