Course conditions were not as good as in the past. Tee boxes were muddy. I don’t know if they got recent rain that we didn’t get 15 miles south, or if they just overwater. Four of the white tees only had one marker....and all they are is a painted rock. Greens were freshly fertilized with granular. Bunkers were hit and miss. Some were maintained while others were not.
Love Garrett Gil designs...
I'm trying to play all the Garrett Gil designed golf courses in Minnesota... just for fun and because I enjoy his work.
I enjoyed the Red and White nines a lot. While the tee boxes need repair I heard they are going to be rebuilt. Not sure why this character "Par 6" has it in for the pro shop. He's not influencing any of us with his constant whining... "you reap what you sow". Change your attitude and people might treat you better.
Impressed by the "Super".
Kudos to the Course Superintendent and his staff for keeping The Ponds in good condition throughout this summer's record setting (2021) HEAT and DROUGHT. I've been impressed.
Also nice to see some of the more heavily used Tee Boxes being expanded in size (at last). This should be a nice improvement once they are established.
She was WASTED!
I am easy going and never do reviews. Especially upon a first visit as I know everybody has a bad day now and then. I’ll keep this simple. I booked an 8pm tee time (yes 8pm) with a cart included. Prepaid. Got to the course and the old blonde on a power trip tells me “no way am I letting a cart out there at this time of the evening- you can only golf if you want to walk”. Mmmmm ok, strangely rude to say it that way. Golf Now let me book that time with a cart and that’s what I paid for. It’s tradition for me to golf on this date due to a death in my family so I’m a little disappointed I can’t golf but a lot disappointed in the rude behavior. Either way- that’s ok just give me my money back please. She REFUSED. She was rude and condescending and DRUNK. There was an event going on. I get it, it looked fun. But refusing to give me a refund or a rescheduled time because you want to flex on me? Not into it. You’re rude and there was no reason for it. I would never return here. The whole vibe was off.
Not surprised. She's the "manager" believe it or not.
I'm not surprised you had this experience with the hag.
"New Rules" June 2021
If you are 2-some and only one wants to ride ... the other will be required to pay for a cart regardless. 2-somes either ride together or walk together. New Rules
Staff was atrocious
No drinks on the course and brat, hotdogs or pulled pork for lunch when I mentioned the lack of food and drinks on the course the workers response was very rude and condescending .
All the staff? Or just the haggard blond on a power trip?
Arriving for our t times at 10:35 for an 11:00 t time because we like to be a little early so we have time to load our clubs and use the restroom before teeing off after checking in was told I couldn't get a cart key to make sure we didn't tee off before our t time and I was to come back to the clubhouse at 11 to get a key. Shortly after I was refused a key my male partner went in and got a cart key for us , guess if this course is having problems with people starting early maybe a starter would help instead of refusing women cart keys. I have never had a problem here before so hoping they can figure this out before loosing business.
Not surprised. Let me guess ... it was the blond on a power trip who refused you a key and told you to return at 11 for your 11 teetime. That by itself proved the incompetence of a so-called manager.
Somebody should open up a golf course here.
What a cluster "F" for pro-shop management. Totally clueless and rude.
They advertise three days of First Come First Served ... then when you try to check in they claim they are packed / over booked and had a shotgun. What kind of idiot advertises 3 days of "First Come First Served" and then has an 11 AM shotgun. (Such BS)
The sign on the door says "Masks Required" but the blond behind the counter is "special" so doesn't wear one. A defiant violation of State Mandate and irresponsible behavior.
Terrible pace of play
Terrible golfer mgmt in terms of pace of play. Tee-times seemed irrelevant. People just teed off whenever they got to the tbox. Greens were nice, but many tboxes were so chewed up and muddy with no flat ground to setup. Disappointing. Also wasn't aware they didn't allow walking on the wknd because when I prepaid the rounds, prices were advertised a "walking price", but when we got there they told us walking wasn't allowed on wknds. Trust me, walkers aren't the reason there's slow play out there. Haha. I won't be back. Too many better options to play....
The blond broad "managing" the place doesn't know her azz from a hole in the ground when it comes to golf but at least she's honest and admits they TRIPLE BOOK TeeTimes. And you wonder why it's SLOOOOOOOOOW.
Nice Local Course
The Ponds is a reasonably easy course. The course does have some challenging holes, but for the most part, is relatively open. I started the round pretty well. I would say, I had a T-Time at 3:21, in the pro-shop, he said there wasn't anyone ahead of me so I could head out. I got to the first t-box, and two guys came up in a cart and went ahead of me. I don't know if they actually had a T-time or just showed up and went out. Didn't matter to me all that much....just kind of strange. The day was beautiful tho a bit hot, not a lot of breeze. Everything was in pretty good shape! I wish people would fix their ball marks, nice true greens, but so many marks.
