First time out in our “new age”
It was different. Prepaid, walked up to the clubhouse and checked in. Guys were friendly, it wasn’t crowded so all good. I wiped down my cart with sanitizing wipes (they should tell you the cart has been disinfected, but didn’t). They put me with a threesome since I was a single. Really nice guys.
Played blue and red. Blue was not in great shape, red was better. Traps were trampled due to no rakes. But if you ended up in a footprint you just smoothed the sand out with your foot and played from a decent lie. Had a threesome in front of us, guys were playing from the blues and shouldn’t have. They were awful and slow. One of the guys called the club and asked for a ranger, no one came out.
Overall, a good day. I hadn’t swung a club in 8 months, shot 90 which is not great but it was def good to get some swings in. This course is a good value, usually in good shape but you can def see the limited number of workers affecting it a bit. A suggestion? Have a guy drive around and rake the traps.
Beautiful day
I had a group of 3 . We played Blue course. On first fairway had beer bottles and cans all over fairway second tee the same . Bye third tee box with beer cans and liquor bottles on tee box .i called the pro shop told Mike. Nice open fairways. Nice greens . .

Course is improving
Hard to write a review with everything goIng on. The course has already come a long way from last year. Greens are in good shape and the fairways and tees are recovering. We enjoyed our round and the staff was doing a good job and friendly!

First time playing
The course looks like it should be a par three course . Greens were in horrible condition. The fairways were even awful. And the only thing par was the greens. Even the bunker looked like crap. Put some money into fixing this course and it will be ok in like 3 years won’t be playing this course ever again.

Thank you for playing Blue Fox Run Golf Club - White Nine. We hope to see you again soon.
Needs Workk
From the Tee Boxes to the Greens this course needs a lot of work. It seamed like they are doing none or very little maintenance at all. Some standing water but that was expected do to the rain we have had, but the Greens where like putting on shag carpet. Would not recommend this course at this time.

Blue fox run
I have to say the first time I played blue fox run it was beautiful greens were great tee boxes were great bunkers were great that was few years ago I played few weeks ago greens were still great but no grass on fairways or rough and tee boxes were awful but for 25 bucks couldn’t beat price and staff was deff friendly
Build houses and get it over with!
I came to Blue Fox, hopeful, that what I saw last year had changed. But when you go to the first tee box and you have sparse and bare spots and the fairways the same, they are taking the old Bel Compo and destroying it! I get it, everyone wants to play with what's going on, and the place was packed, put something back into it,or let it go!

Dog park
I have played here for years
It was bad last year and is even worse this year. Heard they are closing it to put houses up. Leave it the way it is and make it a dog park instead.

Beware ladies
Greens in good shape, fairways and fringe a little rough. . Only issue was no bathrooms . No access to bathrooms and no outhouses. Would have liked to know prior to playing. Okay for men who can find a tree. but for the ladies...
18 at blue fox
Very poorly kept. Beat up course all around. Tee boxes not even an attempt to make it nice. Fairways are a regular courses rough. Should be a 20 dollar round for 18

Free from Corona!!
Had a great time with our golf buddy.
The weather was a little chilly, other than that everything was great. The tee box, fairways and the greens were in perfect condition. We play here alot because we're able to use the golf cart. They remind us about social distance of six feet before we went out. Only one guy per golf cart. The course layout is good for all level of golfers. They have three nine holes course, I would recommend the Red course for the beginners!
Birthday Boy
Took a days off from work with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday at the Golf Course. We had a great time. The weather was great, and the fairways, tee box and the greens were in perfect condition. The Blue Fox Run staff was really friendly, the golf cart was clean, wash and wipes with disinfect with multi-purposed and they warn us about the Coronavirus and the six feet rules before they let us go out and play. They also gave us individual golf card because of the six feet rules of the Coronavirus. We really had a great time out there! I just wanna say thank you to golfnow and the staff at Blue Fox Run in Avon, Connecticut!
Awesome Value
Course was in good shape.
Staff was awesome
GREAT Value
Squeeze in 18 between light showers. Red to white. Not many leaves. Course plays well.
Photo Submission for White Nine
To be clear, I did not play this nine, but rather the Blue/Red today. However, I had time before playing to take the accompanying pictures, which highlight some of the better fall views to be had on some of these holes. I did take close note of course conditions here, which continue to improve since I played here a month ago.

Open, Long, and Tough
This morning, well before our round, I was allowed to drive around the course and snap some photos while my son was taking his fifth lesson from the Head Professional at Blue Fox, Mr. Jim Becker (a superlative teacher, in my estimation). On the seventh tee of the White Nine, I was conversing with a foursome of golfers who gave me positive feedback on their perceptions of Blue Fox Run. Two of them, who both—as it happened—slashed their drives down fairway seven, were amiable gentlemen who introduced themselves as Mark Stansfield and Bruce Kraczkowsky. The latter player, as I learned around the clubhouse, was the 2017 Club Champion here and is a state Senior Tournament winner. Both said that they’d been “playing here forever and have always enjoyed playing this course.” When we talked for a minute about the conditioning woes of earlier this year, each gently downplayed them and was confident the nines will return to their former glory. As we chatted further, Mr. Kraczkowsky asked me if I could imagine better scenery than that which was surrounding us, and I could not have agreed more about the beauty of this setting. In fact, it’s one of several reasons I don’t mind driving 45 minutes to play Blue Fox Run.
For the rest on the Blue Nine, I’ll categorize comments:
--GENERALLY SPEAKING: When played as eighteen holes and paired with either the White or Red nines, this is a strong and very scenic golf experience. Tucked up against the Farmington Valley hills but also next to the river, the Blue demands straight and long driving, especially from the precision required on holes 1, 7 and 9. Mature trees populate the course, and off-line shots often mean confrontations with one or more of them.
It’s not a course that’s long on drama (excepting a pair of holes: 7 and 8), but it doesn’t need much. Why? Its daunting length of 7,025 from the black tees, when combined with the White Nine, could challenge touring pros, not just weekend warriors. And the blues aren’t all that much shorter. As such, long hitters will be attracted to the long opening quintet of holes that will have them gripping and ripping: from the blues, par 4’s of 420, 413 and 439 yards, plus two tight par-5’s, each well exceeding 500, that often bludgeon errant shots.
--GREENS & CONDITIONING: Greens are generally large, undulating, free of blemishes, and of moderate speed. Today they were aerated; when not they have been quite smooth. In all, though, the course has seen considerable improvement, as pertains to green conditioning, since late August (fairways, too, have improved, but tee boxes are lagging).
--FOUR CHALLENGES (BESIDE LENGTH):
A) BUNKERING is more than adequate, both on the fairways and around the greens. The par-three sixth, for example, boasts five embedded bunkers set into an upslope—solid further defenses for a green already elevated and contoured. Even the par-three island green (7) adds a pot-like bunker to foil shots erring on the short side; B) BURLY PAR-FIVES: You can’t ask for much more than a 533-yard par-five (hole 3) followed by 545-yarder (5). Not only that, each plays tough in three ways: well-defended landing zones; a small margin for error, both left and right, on second shots; trouble-laden green complexes; C) TOUGH APPROACH SHOTS: The demands of these lengthy par-4’s will test your talent. There are also tiered and frequently contoured surfaces that may well complicate the final result when you do hit the green, and all nine holes have their fair share of greenside defenses; D) EIGHTH HOLE: ENTICING BUT DEMANDING: The 167-yard eighth, an island green complex, isn’t quite formulaic, as it includes two bunkers—including a large wraparound specimen—and a sizeable tree on its left rear quadrant. It’s a tantalizing and exciting challenge, but not for the meek.
--MY PICK FOR BEST HOLE: #4. Long and potentially arduous at 439 yards, this relatively open driving hole has enough trees—and a gaping leftward fairway bunker—to keep long hitters honest. Add some more cavernous, PGA-tour styled bunkers around the properly-proportioned green (it is fully large enough to accept long approaches) and you have a superb two-shotter that will test everyone.
--TOUGHEST DRIVING HOLE: On number nine, you should thread a drive between two fairway bunkers, shorter to the right and longer left. Water also lurks behind the trees to the right. The ideal shot is a long baby-fade off the tee, though it must be precise. With an interesting green-complex to boot, ‘great hole’ is an understatement for this one.
--MISCELLANEOUS: My son David and I enjoyed the company of an excellent playing partner—Bruce—today. He is a knowledgable guide, and also seems to relish playing here in the league. I also met one of the owners, Mr. Barry Wilson, one of the partners in this family-operated enterprise, who told me some impressive things of interest about the club’s near-future direction. One truism about Blue Fox: the vibe has always been positive when I have been here, and the parking lot full. Everyone seems friendly.
--RECOMMENDATION: Very Strong. I have played at Blue Fox four times since this August. As layouts, the three nines are all winners, borne out by repeated play.
The Rookie
The course was under a little routine maintenance, which is to be expected from time to time. Overall, I really love this place. It’s a great,, fun course to play. Would I recommend this course? Nope. I would highly recommend it!!! I look forward to playing this course many more times.
