The National Golf Club of Louisiana
About
The National Golf Club of Louisiana is the cornerstone of the Westlake community. The course wanders through towering stands of beautiful Louisiana soft pines that provide an idyllic setting. The layout measures more than 7,000 yards from the back tees, offering plenty of holes that will please long hitters. The challenging greens are known to be some of the largest of any golf course in the area. The size of the greens can accommodate a variety of hole locations, allowing the course to play differently each time. You'll be tested with 80 strategically placed bunkers and 14 different lakes that come into play throughout. The generously wide fairways are seemingly docile but the subtle slopes and rolling terrain can be unforgiving. Accuracy and proper club selection are the keys to scoring well at The National Golf Club of Louisiana.

Poor bunkers O/W nice course
The course was good, I was bad for the first 9 holes. The bunkers due to not being raked (many of them) and most being very hard due to no sand were still an issue. The ones that had sand were normal to play from. The ground was very hard as this is an area that hasn't had rain for some time. The greens rolled well and were fast. The rough wasn't very bad, probably due to a lack of rain. It's a nice course and has a good selection of tees to accommodate all ages and player ability. I'll play here again if I'm back in this area.
RTJ
When I pulled into the parking lot the clubhouse made me think of the Robert Trent Jones clubhouse in Mobile AL. The course appears fairly new, but fairways and rough seem pretty complete. The rough is kind. The ground was hard as were the greens. The greens were pretty quick (probable stint meter 10). There were a couple of greens that had a few bare spots, but ran smoothly. The fairways were ample in most cases, but had 2 with hour glass shapes and because of the extra roll from being hard you could catch the protecting bunkers. The bunkers were really the only bad thing I could say about the course as they were hard and not raked. Your ball would settle in footprints or divots. The entire bunker could be that way (I was in 4 or 5 of them). The golf carts have GPS which was a big help. The course has lots of potential and is a fun round. I'll play it again and try to stay out of the bunkers. There is lots of water through out the course, but it all shows up on GPS as do the carts of players ahead of you. The driving range is adequate, but as nearly all courses I've played They don't have a sign marking the distances to their markers and where the measurement is taken. The markers could be color coded to make identification easier. Not everyone has a range finder. Speaking of range finders the course doesn't come up on my Bushnell wingman.
Beautiful but a rock
Course is gorgeous all around. Unfortunately pace of play was slow because a group that was originally 3 tuned into 6 and they didn’t do anything till the last 3 holes. But you get there and the course is gorgeous… how ever the turf is harder than a rock. Anytime I had to hit an iron shot the ground would shot my club back. Let me put it this way when you goto the range it will fool you because it’s nice a soft. Probably won’t play again there is other courses for the same price in better conditions when it comes to the turf.
Well Maintained
This is the best public golf course in the area. Reasonable prices and a friendly layout that is playable even after the heaviest rains.
Bunkers.
I’ve played this course multiple times over the last year. While the course has come a long way in that short time, they need to fix the bunkers. Some of the same bunkers have been under repair with no sign of any progress. The bunkers that aren’t overgrown with grass are nightmares to try and play out of.
WILL BE BACK
Awesome round, played with 2 random regulars. Food was very good, top notch. Everything was very well kept, beautiful greens and fairways.
Solid Course
I played the course in February so I didn't get to see it in it's full splendor but based on the condition it was in when I played it I can imagine its magnificent in the warm weather months. It's a very straight forward course. If you hit a good shot you tend to be rewarded and bad shots are usually not to punishing.
I'll also note that the clubhouse is very nice, complete with a dine in restaurant.
Excellent Greens
The highlight of this course especially for the time of the year was the superb condition of the greens. No invasive greens made for quick true rolling greens. Layout is fun with generous family with water and bunkers creating challenges. Enjoyed it greatly. Highly recommended and a great value.
Great Greens, Excellent Value
Greens on this course at this time of year in February compared to others in the area are superb. No invasive species making them bumpy and they were as smooth as silk. Some pin placements on ridges make for almost impossible putts, but that adds to the challenge. Layout is fun and challenging with water and bunkers but fairways are generous and a well hit drive will stay in play. Thoroughly enjoyable day.
Fun course for the money!!
Course was in better shape then most reviews say, fun layout and pace of play was good!
National Westlake
Bunkers were unplayable but believe due to amount of rain over last few days. Greens were good and rolled great. Fairways were nice and plush. They need new carts and no sand was in any of them to help repair divots. Food at The Max is amazing!!!
Very nice Course
It’s excellent, fairway and greens are perfect, the only point to improve is the bunkers that with rain turns into a pool, but for this price and the level of maintenance, the service and the general conditions is one of the best in the region
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
They bought new carts this year.
