The National Golf Club of Louisiana
About
The National Golf Club of Louisiana is the cornerstone of the Westlake community. The course wanders through towering stands of beautiful Louisiana soft pines that provide an idyllic setting. The layout measures more than 7,000 yards from the back tees, offering plenty of holes that will please long hitters. The challenging greens are known to be some of the largest of any golf course in the area. The size of the greens can accommodate a variety of hole locations, allowing the course to play differently each time. You'll be tested with 80 strategically placed bunkers and 14 different lakes that come into play throughout. The generously wide fairways are seemingly docile but the subtle slopes and rolling terrain can be unforgiving. Accuracy and proper club selection are the keys to scoring well at The National Golf Club of Louisiana.

Worst golf experience.
So many fives ones. 6 domes and even eight somes. Horrible horrible....it will take us to play in eight hours
Well Maintained
This is the best public golf course in the area. Reasonable prices and a friendly layout that is playable even after the heaviest rains.
Bunkers.
I’ve played this course multiple times over the last year. While the course has come a long way in that short time, they need to fix the bunkers. Some of the same bunkers have been under repair with no sign of any progress. The bunkers that aren’t overgrown with grass are nightmares to try and play out of.
WILL BE BACK
Awesome round, played with 2 random regulars. Food was very good, top notch. Everything was very well kept, beautiful greens and fairways.
Solid Course
I played the course in February so I didn't get to see it in it's full splendor but based on the condition it was in when I played it I can imagine its magnificent in the warm weather months. It's a very straight forward course. If you hit a good shot you tend to be rewarded and bad shots are usually not to punishing.
I'll also note that the clubhouse is very nice, complete with a dine in restaurant.
Excellent Greens
The highlight of this course especially for the time of the year was the superb condition of the greens. No invasive greens made for quick true rolling greens. Layout is fun with generous family with water and bunkers creating challenges. Enjoyed it greatly. Highly recommended and a great value.
Great Greens, Excellent Value
Greens on this course at this time of year in February compared to others in the area are superb. No invasive species making them bumpy and they were as smooth as silk. Some pin placements on ridges make for almost impossible putts, but that adds to the challenge. Layout is fun and challenging with water and bunkers but fairways are generous and a well hit drive will stay in play. Thoroughly enjoyable day.
Fun course for the money!!
Course was in better shape then most reviews say, fun layout and pace of play was good!
National Westlake
Bunkers were unplayable but believe due to amount of rain over last few days. Greens were good and rolled great. Fairways were nice and plush. They need new carts and no sand was in any of them to help repair divots. Food at The Max is amazing!!!
They bought new carts this year.
Very nice Course
It’s excellent, fairway and greens are perfect, the only point to improve is the bunkers that with rain turns into a pool, but for this price and the level of maintenance, the service and the general conditions is one of the best in the region
Golf Groups Beware...
The Kreole Klassic golf tournament's recent experience at the National Golf Club of Louisiana was exceptionally poor, defined by a shocking lack of basic hospitality and professionalism.
The club's management demonstrated a complete disregard for our group's business by rudely demanding that all participants vacate the indoor restaurant and move outside. This unwelcoming
attitude was compounded by a failure to provide for player safety and comfort; despite the dangerous 100-degree weather, there was no ice available for the golfers on the course.
Furthermore, the provided golf carts were in a state of disrepair, hindering the enjoyment of the game. The club’s unprofessionalism was also evident in its financial dealings, as it not only required a partial pre-payment before the day of the event but also reneged on its explicit promise to provide a complimentary round for the group leader.
Based on this disrespectful service, broken promises, and neglectful conditions, any golf group looking to host an outing at the National Golf Club of Louisiana should be warned and proceed with
extreme caution.
Well at least they have brand new carts now.
Tale of two golf groups.
There are still some “under maintenance” bunkers. I skipped one par 3 because the staff was currently working on the green and bunker right next to the pin. Played behind slower groups all round. One I was allowed took play through. The second took the everyone ahead is slow so deal with it, they called it quits after 14. The third was amazed at my drive and birdie on 18.
Nice course for the money
Really enjoyed this course. It had rained a lot the day before so it was cart path only, but we thought the course drained well.
It winds through several neighborhoods, but the views of the course were great.
Will definitely play this course again.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
Cashntango...as Director of Golf here at The National, I can assure you that we take great pride in our pace of play. We do not allow 6-somes ever. We do allow 5 but we monitor their play closely and discuss with them prior to teeing off that they will be measured the same as 4-somes in front of them. We have GPS on every cart and our average pace for the day you played was 4 hrs and 8 min.
Please double check that you made this comment on the correct golf course.
You can call me directly to discuss. I'm hoping to talk you into trying The National again as I believe it is truly a great golf course and wonderful affordable place to play. Thanks
