The National Golf Club of Louisiana
About
The National Golf Club of Louisiana is the cornerstone of the Westlake community. The course wanders through towering stands of beautiful Louisiana soft pines that provide an idyllic setting. The layout measures more than 7,000 yards from the back tees, offering plenty of holes that will please long hitters. The challenging greens are known to be some of the largest of any golf course in the area. The size of the greens can accommodate a variety of hole locations, allowing the course to play differently each time. You'll be tested with 80 strategically placed bunkers and 14 different lakes that come into play throughout. The generously wide fairways are seemingly docile but the subtle slopes and rolling terrain can be unforgiving. Accuracy and proper club selection are the keys to scoring well at The National Golf Club of Louisiana.

Construction...
New club house nearing completion. They had aerated the greens the day before and were giving everyone a significant price break. LOTS OF WATER HAZARDS, with some holes having water on both sides of the fairway. They had experienced a lot of rain recently, but the course was drier than I'd expected. Only negative was the sand bunkers were packed like the tide had just gone out... I'm guessing they'll address those once the get over the cost of building the new clubhouse.
New Course
I went on a mini vacay (been doing that a little bit since things have started to open back up) and everytime I go I look to play a course in the area this time was the National GC of la(I almost played somewhere else )I’m really glad I didn’t the course was very enjoyable the fairways and greens were in great shape and the course drains real well( it had rained the day before and we were 90 degrees I would definitely have ur”A game” or move up a tee or bring a lot of balls(I recommend anyway) you have to hit golf shots here only negative is the greens were very slow these greens have undulation so they need some speed lots of downhill putts didn’t make it the hole but I will be back
Caught in the rain twice
Gotta love the complimentary Community Coffee in the clubhouse while waiting out the rain. Thankfully a variety of tee boxes to move up to. The greens dry fast. Good deals for Texas golfers.
Worst golf experience.
So many fives ones. 6 domes and even eight somes. Horrible horrible....it will take us to play in eight hours
Shocked
I was amazed at how much the course layout looks following two hurricanes last fall. Kidos to the course management and greens team!!
Very Nice Course
Course was in very good condition. It appears they are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura & Delta. Staff was very friendly.
Great Value
Went to stay at Nugget with buddy and booked round at National. Weather wasn’t great otherwise all 5s. Once the new clubhouse is finished course will be premier. Layout and condition coming out of winter were great and knowledgeable staff. Must play in Lake Charles.
Good Course
Great condition in consideration of last years Hurricane. New club house will be open in August.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
Cashntango...as Director of Golf here at The National, I can assure you that we take great pride in our pace of play. We do not allow 6-somes ever. We do allow 5 but we monitor their play closely and discuss with them prior to teeing off that they will be measured the same as 4-somes in front of them. We have GPS on every cart and our average pace for the day you played was 4 hrs and 8 min.
Please double check that you made this comment on the correct golf course.
You can call me directly to discuss. I'm hoping to talk you into trying The National again as I believe it is truly a great golf course and wonderful affordable place to play. Thanks
