Well kept course. Definitely kept the money on the course vs the club house. Played on Sunday and the pace was agonizingly slow. Not sure if it's like this on the weekday.

Played this course in early spring and the conditions were better than expected. Although it's been a very cold winter, the course is already green. The greens were running true and fast.

I think this course would be one of the best if it had GPS!!!!!! It's very challenging. Everyone would love to see a better clubhouse and GPS. My home course is LAuberge Casino Resort. I play for $32 a round and it has GPS.

Really enjoyed the course with all the trees. It was new so there was alot of construction going on. Good golf for the money.

The National Golf Club is a new option for golfers in Lake Charles, the golf and gaming mecca of Louisiana within a couple hour's drive of Houston. The National is certainly an overachieving muni with a championship layout full of lots of water and good course conditions. It's certainly a step down compared to Contraband Bayou and Gray Plantation, but it's affordable and well-conditioned enough to warrant consideration if you're looking for a third course in the area.

This course would have recieved five stars if they had reacted to the issue cuased by a tournament that had 20 more players than expected. Starters at the 1st and 10th hole would have assured the golfers who had tee times after the tournament a better chance of finishing after they were started late. The course was beautiful however and would probably provide ample challenge from the two sets of back tees.

I belong to a very expensive, well maintained golf course. I was apprehensive booking here because of the low price. What a great value for the money. Wide fairways, good greens, five sets of tees, very good pace of play. I did not like the gas carts as I prefer electric carts but not a big deal. Highly recommend the course.

The staff were VERY friendly and the course was fun and staff were friendly.

I only had time to play the back nine, but it was interesting, challenging and beautifully maintained. They only have a temporary clubhouse at this time, but the staff was very nice. The cart girl even came through three times on my 9-hole game. :-)

Having played The National Golf Club of LA several times, this time was a little wetter than normal. The greens were in great shape, and you can tell that the course is very well maintained. It actually had rained several days in a row prior to our round, and we were still able to finish in about 4 hours, even with the 90 deg rule.

Course has a great mix of holes. Tree lined fairways, some easy birdie holes, and some challenging par holes. Course was in great shape. Even thought they did a small tine aerification on 9 holes you could barely tell and it did not affect the play-ability of the greens or the consistency of them. Tee boxes are level with the grass cut down to the right height and there is a good distinction between fairway and rough.(Good Visual). Only disappointment, I noticed some of the fairway bunkers had grass growing in them. It is a hazard so it's not supposed to be perfect, but I'm sure the wonderful staff will have that handled soon. Great staff as well. A huge plus for them - after booking my tee time I received a call within 30 min notifying me of the light aerification they were doing and was asked if I still wanted my tee time. That was at 6pm too. A lot of courses now wouldn't bother. That's going above and beyond. Great Job Guys.

Friendly staff. Great lay out. Very well maintained. It's a course you will tell your friends they must play.I have to drive an hour to get to the course,I don't mine because the course is worth it.
