Fun course
This is a nice course just north of the DE beaches. We played in August. Conditions were very good and course looked great. No complaints. Course is in better shape and prettier than Rookery North but more expensive to play. But I would still choose the South course.
Disappointed
I am disappointed that when I looked to schedule a 4 sum next Monday, price went from $40 to $68. no deal
Good resort town golf
We played on July Fourth in a beach town, so the pace was always going to be slow, but we finished in under five hours with me hacking my way to a 105, so not terrible all things considered. It being a public course in a vacation destination, there is some evidence of people not taking care of things (bunkers, greens, carts where they shouldn't be). I play here pretty much every summer, as it's relatively affordable to the time and place and a few holes provide interesting challenges.
Nice course. Only complaint was the pace of play took forever. Had a wait at every hole. I had to leave before finishing because of the time.
Not Great, Not Bad
Layout was fair, basic, nothing great. Condition of course was good, pace of play excellent. I wouldn’t travel far to play course , though one of the cheaper options in the area
Nice course
3rs round I’ve played at Rook South in the past 2 summers. Nice course, always in pretty good shape, greens roll nice. Staff always friendly , nice driving range to warm up. Would say it’s a bit of an open course and able to get away with spraying ball off of the tees a little bit and not be too penalized however several holes with sneaky water hazards in play. Only knock I would say is a bit overpriced for the level of course it is. It is a touristy beach town and playing weekends , higher prices to be expected I suppose. Do like the course though and will play at least couple times this season. As well as Rookery north, a bit more challenging course and a little better priced
Only 9 holes
Aerated the front 9 and all the greens. Sand all over the greens
Geese Poop
Despite being above average in most areas, geese poop was terrible. Course needs extreme cleaning. Almost every hole was a mess. With warmer weather coming, this will stop me from playing there because of this particular problem.
Great February golf
Showed up at 9:30 for our 10:06 tee time. We’re told they just started letting people play after an hour and a half frost delay. Our foursome went off at 11 and were done at 2:20. Awesome pace. Course is in nice shape for the time of year . All the bunkers I saw, and the 2 I was in, had sand in them and were All raked. I couldn’t find a rake when I needed one, but it was great to be able to play out of them. The course is predominately flat and has a nice amount of water to try to avoid. Very open, very playable for anyone. Greens were as expected, a little bumpy and slow, but consistent and generally rolled true. I’ve been playing 30-35 rounds a year now for about 15 years, am a 17 hdcp, and today was the first time I got 3 birdies in a round. 8, 13 and 17. It was fun to play the rookery again after 10+ years. And I will definitely be back sooner then that.
