I can see they’re working hard to get the grass to grow in the fairways again cutting down all those trees. Last year was great as well, but you really need to teach people how to fix ball marks on the greens. It’s kind of sad that they don’t already know how to do it. Otherwise, the greens are in pretty good shape.

Course was ok. Many temporary tees. Even the tee that weren’t under repair were horribly maintained. Every tee was all crabgrass, and not even cut down enough.

They are still working on fairway grass, but the staff was great, facilities were great, foliage well kept, and greens were excellent. Past reviews I read pointed out the fairways, and they still are bare in places, but the team there are working diligently, but grass takes time. Overall, I’d play there again and it’s a decent value.

Course is in terrible shape. Crabgrass on tee boxes. Greens are in good shape. Fairways are crap.

The worst part of the whole course is that if you go anywhere off the fairway, you can't find your ball most of the time because they either aren't cutting the grass or there is this 2 inches of clover crap growing all over that hides your ball.

Also the starter asks us on the SECOND hole if we know what "ready golf is" probably because my daughter in law was playing. No one in back of us and we stayed right on the group in front. Finished our round in 3 hrs 50 mins.

Unfortunately, I paid for a membership and would not recommend anyone to do the same. The course is atrocious, unkept, muddy, fairways are fair to poor and presently there are really 4 holes closed... though this will be disputed because you can tee off on 1, 7, 8 and 18 but must move your ball off the fairway to the rough - which is its own issue in that the grass is so long and not well maintained. Needless to say, I am super disappointed. Non-members can receive a discount of 10%, perhaps 15% due to course conditions but no amends are offered to members.

Beyond that, carts are mostly maintained and clean and most of the staff are great.

Highly recommend the management, the groundskeeper or facility manager head north to Jonathan's and take a look at how their course is being maintained. They were impacted by the same weather and don't appear to have the myriad of issues that are present at SDGC.

It was hot. We had a 2:00 tee time for 4. So, when I made our tee time there was nothing on the website that said they had 2 holes closed. Some of fairways were so long and had not been cut, it took quite a while to find are ball several times. It was either hard and no grass or wet and thick.

I played her last year and it was great. This year however hole 1 and 18 where closed. On holes 7 and 8 you could not play in the fairway. You would tee off, go get your ball (if you could find it) drop it in the ruff that was deep and hit. I will go back and play the course next year but I'm afraid it is off the list this year. On the up side the Big Oyster bar on site was great. The staff is friendly, the food is very good and a very nice space.

My buddy and I played Southern Delaware Golf Club (SDGC) on Sunday, June 21, 2026. We have played it numerous times in the past year, but not in a few months. We waited to return because the Bermuda fairways had not come in last time, so it was a lot of dirt. To say we were disappointed this time is an enormous understatement. Although the greens and bunkers were both better than average, the rest of the course is an absolute disaster. The tee boxes, fairways and rough are simply awful. Holes 1 and 18 are closed and the fairways on holes 7 and 8 are closed. After you finish hole 17, you play holes 2 and 3 a second time. This is tantamount to a golf circus. My buddy basically gave up on the round by the third hole. And to charge $70 for this, even on Father's Day, was outrageous. We have dropped SDGC from our rota indefinitely. We feel bad for members. We are not sure who is in charge of groundskeeping, but they should probably be pursuing other interests. The strange part is that someone has put a lot of money into other aspects of the club, like buildings and facilities. But, a golf club cannot overcome grass that won't even suitable for goats. Sad.

What the heck happened to the fairways?? They are pure dirt w/ few patches of grass here and there. Shame but looks to be unplayable for summer.

Fairways are in horrible condition. greens and approach areas are OK.

Play this course last year and it was in great shape. Now the fairways are still brown. The rough is patchy and uncapped. The only thing good is piece of plate. Probably would because the course is in bad shape. $70 to play around the calf and you can’t get a decent lie.
