Jagare Ridge Golf Club

WOW — Jagare Ridge absolutely blew me away! Visiting some friends in Edmonton, I decided to sneak in a solo round, and this hidden gem made my trip unforgettable.

From the moment I arrived, the service was next-level. The Jagare Ridge team — from the pro shop to the restaurant — went above and beyond to make sure I had an amazing experience. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely excited to have you there — you can feel it from the second you walk in.

The course itself? Incredible. I played the front nine and was hooked instantly. A thrilling mix of long par 4s, sneaky dogleg par 5s, and some tough par 3s that really make you think. Just when you think you’ve figured it out — boom — another twist. This course challenges you in the best possible way!

The practice facilities were spotless, with a beautiful range and putting green to get you warmed up. Plus, the cart and range balls were included in a super reasonable green fee — such great value!

Even more impressive? This was only their second day of the season, and the fairways and greens were absolutely pristine. Huge shoutout to the grounds crew — you can tell they poured their hearts into getting the course ready after a long winter.

And I have to say — DO NOT leave without trying the club sandwich. Absolute game changer. Fresh, stacked, and seriously one of the best post-round meals I’ve had anywhere.

Jagare Ridge is now officially on my must-visit list anytime I’m in Edmonton. I’d play here again in a heartbeat — and you should too!

The idiom, "the second time is the charm" is appropriate as an earlier attempt to play here in June was rained out. For todays round there couldn't have been better September playing conditions...blue skies, double digit temperatures and the mosquitos have flown south for the season.

Situated in the Whitemud Creek Valley this picturesque course has plenty on offer: manicured fairways and greens, numerous elevation changes, exceptional bunkering and practice facilities that include driving range and putting and chipping areas. Since its inception, which is as difficult to ascertain as to who the designer was, the course continues to garner favorable reviews.

It's easy to lose yourself in the course as the surrounding greenery insulates you from the hustle and bustle of the city. The opening hole is absolutely brilliant and it starts at the tee box. It's somewhat rare to find a little visual excitement added by the thoughtful placement of colorful flower beds and an assortment of mixed flora. The majority of golfers would be completely oblivious to it, but those are some of the little details that can elevate a course from mediocrity.

Holes 1 and 2 are both fun holes and ease you into your round. Hole 3 begins the journey into the heart of the course as it descends into the valley. It's here that the course becomes a little more challenging. You'll need to have all eight cylinders firing for the ride as holes 3 through 13 is the time to start implementing all those skills you possess. The course twists and turns its way through the valley and wide fairways rise and fall through a plethora of natural gullies, slopes and gently rolling hills. To score well here you'll need to find the designated landing areas, avoid the well-placed bunkers, the ponds and the creek that snakes its way through a number of holes. The scenic views are enhanced by elevated tee boxes on at least six of the holes. The greens and greens complexes are wonderfully shaped and played as well as expected.

With an abundance of challenges and skillful design, Jägare Ridge doesn't lend itself to just a brash, powerful game but rather a thinking mans game. It's certainly a place worthy of repeated visits.

Jagare Ridge Golf Club is kind of a unique design for the Edmonton area. This course will remind you more of a mountain course than the typical prairie courses you find in the area. The first three holes are good starting holes as they are relatively flat with room to loosen up your swing on. Then you get down into the valley and the fun begins. The holes become more challenging, narrower with up, down and sideway lies. There are some spectacular looking holes with caries over valleys making it uniquely challenging and more of a thinker’s course than a bomber’s. Once you rise up out of the valley on the back nine the holes open up again allowing you to blast away with your driver. The final is a short 4 par from an elevated tee that is about 50 feet above the fairway and the valley of trees guarding the green. The view is spectacular with the clubhouse poking through the trees high above the 18th green. If you have the length you can play the hero shot and try to drive the green or at least clear the valley and land in one of the greenside bunkers. Or you can play smart and layup with a mid-iron to the end of the fairway leaving you a daunting 100-yard approach. This hole can make or break your round. The clubhouse perfectly blends into the environment and has great views from the balcony of the 9th and 18th holes. It is a wonder this place has not gone private considering its location, facilities and wonder conditioning.

The condition of Jagare Ridge Golf Club is as close to perfect as you can get for a golf course in the Edmonton area. From the greens to the tee-boxes they were flawless. We ran into one of the grounds crew and mentioned to him how good the course conditions were. His reply was priceless “It is not hard to grow grass when it rains all the time.” That would have been our only complaint, we had a big rainstorm the night before and some of the fairways had more standing water than dry land but that is something the golf course cannot control. We really recommend you get out and play Jagare Ridge Golf Club and see what is possible in for a public course in Edmonton.

first time playing the course with a foursome 3 of 4 were new golfers. And we were kicked off for taking to long on 9 holes at the end of the evening. When there was NO ONE behind us, only to later find out the Marshall has a history of not wanting to stay past when he wants to. 815 pm is when we were kicked off and sunset was at least 9 pm. This course has a history of doing this. Keep that in mind when booking a tee time.

A beautiful well maintained golf course for more experienced players. Received a special league rate with the Women's Golf Network in Edmonton, which covered 9 holes, cart and food voucher. During our 9 holes, we saw a deer, experienced sun showers and the observe the beauty of a rainbow in this picturesque setting. Will need to return another day to play all 18 holes.

My guest & I took in the scenery from the patio before the golf game and then sampled the scrumptious food from the clubhouse afterward.

It was worth the drive for us.

A fun up-and-down course but not for the faint of heart. Best played in calm conditions. Some great scenery along the way. Couple of holes on the back nine redesigned since I've been here (many years ago) but still like it.
