Just average
When it opened, it was one of the nicer courses in the area. Now, it's just average. Years of constant dry fairways on some holes have tainted the interest for me, coupled with the $5 food voucher that can't be used at the turn. Gee, thanks for paying for half of my beer...at $105, it's not someplace I would play more than once a year.
Fairways are terrible
Fairways are in extremely bad condition with many areas with no grass. Some bunkers have very little sand in them.. Fairways are extremely short and very hard so ball rolls, and rolls and rolls.
Greens have been punched and sanded so the will be awhile.
Certainly not recommended.
Excellent course - probably the best public course in the Edmonton area!
There are a lot of things to like about an afternoon out at RedTail. Chief among them is the course itself. As a links-style setup, there are few trees, plenty of sand, and plays tough in the wind. I love this style of course and the others around designed by this same group (Puddicombe).
Conditions are excellent. A few years ago, the course didn’t winter well, but in 2019 and 2020 it’s been back to it’s former top-notch self.
Add in an all-grass driving range, three practice greens, practice bunkers, I could go on and on... the facilities are second to none.
The food, drinks, and service in both the clubhouse and snack shack make the day that much enjoyable too.
Highly, highly recommend RedTail Landing.
Wonderful course, not women friendly
Despite all the rain we have had again this past weekend Redtail Landing was in pretty good condition. The tee-boxes were lush and well kept. Most of the fairways were in good condition, allowing the ball to sit up nicely. There are a couple that is in poor condition with hardly any grass on them but from what I can remember from prior play here, these fairways have always had issues, they just can’t seem to grow grass on them. The greens were great, smooth and quick and with them being rained softened they grabbed the approach shots well. The only beef we have is that it is too long for women, it would be nice if they built another set of tees under 4,500 yards. Most of the holes are too long for most women and the approach shots require a carry over bunkers or water to reach the greens.
RedTail Landing GC
RedTail Landing GC was chosen by the Alberta Golf Association to host one of the "qualifying" rounds for the 2019 Provincial Seniors Tournament.
The winter of 2017 was hard on Redtail Landing as well as just about every other course in Alberta. The fairways and greens required a full year to come around. Hats off to the grounds staff for bringing the course back.
Alberta's wet weather over the past few weeks made it cart path only for riders and even walkers used the cart paths to avoid all the moisture that accumulated in some fairways. Lift, clean and place was the order of the day.
Good sightlines from the tees, wide fairways, manageable rough, deep fescue grasses, wonderful bunkering in the fairways and around the greens, water hazards will get your attention but won't distract you, enormous greens that receive and reward good approach shots and putts that rolled true and consistently on which ever line you started them on.
I absolutely love the layout of this Sid Puddicombe design as there aren't any holes that are quirky or tricked up. If you consistently strike the ball well tee to green, employ some basic course management and own a smooth putting stroke, good scoring is the result. Some days you're able to put your game together and other days golf leaves you scratching your head...you gotta love the game of golf. Today I brought my "A" game and made the cut on the number.

Diappointing
Due to the recent rain in the area, the course required players to walk...water everywhere...in the bunkers... Course needs repair! My friend and I will not be returning to RedTail this season. Thank god we only paid for 9 holes.
Redtail Landing GC
Looked forward to playing Redtail again as I love the layout and I have had some great rounds here in the past. Took part in an Alberta Golf Tour tournament here on June 5/18 and made good use of the practice facilities available, nice range, practice bunker and practice putting green.
Our four ball got up to the first tee box and didn't give a lot of notice to the spartan fairway. It turns out most fairways displayed varying degrees of winter kill and green after green after green with more dirt/sand than blades of grass. This past winter was hard on this course. I got the sense that every participant left disappointed with the overall conditioning of the course that was on offer for a tournament.
The grounds keeping crew will have their hands full getting this course back to where it once was.
Very disappointing
I love this course. First time playing this year. This course has no fairways, they are pretty well dead. Most of the greens are in poor condition. It is such a shame to see one of Edmontons premier courses become a huge disappointment. This course has been gradually going downhill for 4 plus years. I would not recommend this course, especially as they still charge top dollar. Someone needs to start paying attention to this course and bring it back to what it once was. The restaurant I might add has also joined the slide downhill. The food is definitely not worth staying for.
Worth a play
Greens for the most part are in good condition. Some of the fairways are lacking growth and others are cut way to short. Prices have come down from a couple of years ago due to some poor greens. Driving range is excellent. Very friendly and dedicated staff.
Lots of background noise from a very busy highway 2. Pace of play can be slow.
RedTail Landing GC
If you watched any of the majors in 2015, you may have noticed three were played on links style courses. Well, RedTail Landing's not a true links course but it definitely has a links feel to it. Masterfully laid out, the wide and firm rolling fairways are separated by tall fescue and the occasional water hazard that will punish the wayward golfer. This is a course that rewards good decisions, accurate shot making and a putting stroke smoother than peanut butter. Uniquely located adjacent to the Edmonton International Airport, RedTail provides golfers the occasional overhead distraction.

Excellent Golf Course
I played Redtail Landing in August of 2015. The course was in excellent shape and the staff were very friendly. The driving range is awesome!
I will definitely be back
Overpriced - but greens have come a long way from 2014
RedTail Landing is a nice facility - good layout and in good condition. The practice grounds are extensive - grass driving range - chipping greens, putting greens etc. The whole atmosphere is aimed at the high class golf market - staff run out and grab your bag, put it in the cart, lots of "Sir" - you almost feel like they'd come out and carry you from the car if you'd let them. Not my cup of tea but if that's what you want. The course itself is a nice layout - a bit open at times - meaning it can be pretty windy - and . For anyone who played in 2014 - the greens are back to what they should be (in 2014 they were 30-50% mud on every hole!). Service was good - nothing special but I needed nothing special. The biggest thing for me was the price - in my eyes there is nothing at RedTail Landing that makes it significantly better than other courses costing much less. Cut the price and I'd play again.
Love this course
Wow has this course improved since last year. Great course, I love it. Go play it folks.
