Wolf Creek Golf Course - Links

Second time playing it and forgot how long and difficult it is.Would recommend only long hitters or a below 5 handicap.

They charged us with an extra $79.80 as wolf creek reported that we only had 3 players. However, we had four players and all four players paid and checked in. I called the pro shop today and they said they'd figure it out. At this point, I've used Golf Now for years, I will never book with them again if this issue is not resolved.

The Links Course emerged as a stalwart companion, arriving a full 25 years after the Old Course first opened to glowing reviews and began shaping Wolf Creek’s reputation. The Links Course was one of three venues used for golfers to qualify for the Alberta Golf Association’s 2026 Senior Tournament. 

For today's qualifying round, the AGA officials had competitors going off the Blue tees which reached out to a comfortable 5,935 yards. Practice facilities at the golf resort are available in the form of a 280 yd long driving range, a large practice putting green, a practice bunker as well as a chipping green that are found next to the first tee on the Links Course. A snack shack, along with washroom and shower facilities, sits within easy walking distance of the practice area and the adjacent RV park, offering convenient amenities for those arriving with trailers in tow. 

The sun slipped in & out of tattered cloud cover for our 08:00 tee time. Rain was in the late morning forecast, so as the first group out we had our fingers crossed that we’d finish before the skies opened up. 

Hole 1, a shortish 339‑yard par 4, begins with a dogleg left that bends around a stand of trees and leads into a devilish green protected by a wide, gaping bunker on the right. The routing of the following holes feels natural and every one presents a new test of strategy and skill. Closing out the front side is the 530‑yard par 5 called Hells Highway, a hole that rises up and delivers you to a sinister green guarded by a tight formation of pot bunkers. All things considered I was happy to make the turn at 3 over.

On the tee box of Hole 10 the wind started to pick up and one could feel the weather changing. As if the course wasn’t providing enough of a test, Mother Nature decided to step in and raised the stakes on the twelfth hole as the skies opened up. And in almost comedic fashion, out of the dozens of carts available, we soon discovered our cart was the only one without a rain hood. 

The routing on the back nine makes full use of the rolling terrain, and with its links style architecture, elevation changes, and pleasing vistas, it offers players numerous ways to navigate from tee to green.

Fairways on the course are all well defined. The greens and greens complexes are shaped with both imagination and creativity. The greens played wonderfully, their pace and purity rewarding any putt struck with conviction.

Bunkers are placed appropriately both for aesthetics and strategic purposes. Water hazards number but three, found only on Holes 3 and 16 where they’re positioned to matter. 

Hole 16, a wonderful 410‑yard par 4 named Tall Spruce, is an all‑time favorite. A gentle right turning fairway leads to an elevated green backed into a cluster of bunkers and has a yawning bunker at the left front ready to attract any poorly struck approach. 

The Old Course and the Links Course at Wolf Creek Resort, crafted by Rod Whitman, echo the golden age of minimalist golf design. Whitman didn’t build a course over the land, he uncovered the one within it.

Golf at Wolf Creek Resort is guaranteed not to disappoint. Wolf Creek Resort is a setting that is equally suited to casual rounds or tournament level competition.

It has a driving range which is great! Don't recommend walking, get a cart! We prefer the old side. Few confusing holes with how the markets are pointed.

Enjoyed playing the links course! The fairways and greens were in good shape. Hole layouts we're fair and challenging. Some very short holes from the white tees...Not fond of the par three that was less than 75 yards... All in all, a good round!

Two courses make up the Wolf Creek Golf Resort, the Old Course & the Links Course. The Links is a great addition to the Old Course as it can play as tough as the original. Like the Old Corse if you think your way around the course, pick good lines off the tee, limit those wild swings, avoid the numerous hazards & then manage to roll in a few putts then you can pencil in some good scores. Nicely routed through varied terrain, numerous elevation changes, strategic bunkering & large undulating greens will provide the golfer a serious challenge every time out. Great practice area, RV & camping facilities onsite.

I really enjoyed this course from the back tees, each hole is unique. I like this 18 more than the Old course but that could just be me. You absolutely need the course booklet to manage this course as all you can see are the 150 markers, which you may not realize is 150 until the 3rd hole.
The front nine fairway should be cut shorter with the greens as rock hard as they are. It seemed like the backnine grass was more lush and shorter.
My favourite holes are: 3, 8, 11, 14, 16

The staff were very friendly.
The Links Course is just over 7000 yards off the tips and offers a great test with the undulating greens.
The greens were in great shape being firm and fast.

The front nine has been arounf for years and is a great layout with everthing in front of you. On the back nine there are a few blind tee shots that require a few times to play to get the correct line. The 270 yard par three is a real challenge withhazzard to the right.

Love the course and make it an annual trip to play both courses.

This course is newer, but is really coming into its own. Anybody who can't get on the awesome "Old Course" should embrace playing the Links. It's definitely a good test, as it is looong...but is really a great layout. A lot of elevation changes for a "links" course, but still the rolling fairways, bunkers and tough greens you'd expect.
Worth the drive and the very reasonable price.
