Granite Pointe Golf Club
About
The first nine holes of Granite Pointe Golf Club were built in 1920 and were later joined by a back nine in 1993 that tumbles through the mountains. The layout features a number of risk-reward holes that require accurate shot-making. The golf course begins with rolling parkland and offers wide, player-friendly fairways but then becomes progressively more challenging as it winds through the mountains. There are several elevated tees on the back nine that offer spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the Kokanee Glacier. Holes 15-17, known as the Three Aces, offer some excellent scoring opportunities. The par-4 16th is touted to be one of the best holes in BC. The golf course finishes with its signature hole. This par 4's trademark is the massive granite boulder that partially blocks the view of the home stretch.

Beautiful
Interesting and challenging. Clearly undergoing and needing some reno work but course was in good shape overall.
Golf in Nelson
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The indoor free use of a golf studio prior to play was great.
The course was in need of refurbishment. Large areas of the fairways were under watered and undernourished albeit most of the greens were in reasonable condition.
The layout was challenging in that the climbs up to many holes were not suited to older less fit players to consider walking them. The only alternative and recommended by myself (fit 67 year old playing off 9) was a buggy.
The views across Nelson and the back drop of the lake and mountains were stunning.
Overall considerable investment is needed to bring the course to 21st century golfing expectations.
Average Course
Tee boxes were like cement. Made it difficult to set your tee and line up for a shot. Fairways were in great shape and the greens weren’t bad. Little inconsistent to some being faster than others but overall not bad. We golfed here with a discounted rate by booking online. I wouldn’t pay full price to golf here again when there are other courses around that offer a better course and don’t charge 25$ a person per cart. The food was also very average after hearing good things. Staff were friendly, price was fair but wasn’t great. Was fun to play it once but likely won’t be back.
Not worth $80
Played 18 holes there recently. Definitely not worth $80 to play. The only thing good about the course was the greens. Tee boxes were muddy, fairways were full of mulched grass, hole #1 was all tore up. Overall it just seems like they put in the bare minimum for upkeep of the course. Wont play there again
With the range being sold and now under construction, number one is affected . No big deal . Number 9 was a bit tough for a first timer as a lower green that is a blind shot and construction just above it . Some added excitement to see where your ball lands . Some slow walkers on the front nine but they left after 9 and excellent pace on the back . Some gorgeous holes with elevations that can see both mountains and lake . Spectacular. Logan in the pro shop was wonderful. Great attitude and very informative for us first timers . A great morning . Looking forward to seeing the changes in the year to come . Thanks 😊
Under construction
Wasn't told it was under construction. Charged full price.
Beautiful scenery.
Despite my allergies getting the best of me and having to sit out a couple rounds I still enjoyed the breathtaking scenery.
$2.38 discount for a course under reconstruction
Paying full price for a course where you hit off a mat on the very first hole that features and complete mess for a fairway, several temporary greens, and poorly marked detours around the bulldozing happening on the back end of the course was a disappointment. I played a couple of holes out of order as a result and had to back track, and I have played here many times before! I look forward to playing this course every year on vacation, but what I found was a bit of a shock. All for a Golf Now "discount" of $2.38. They really need to get it together or else I may not find this course open when I return next year.
Under construction
It is early in the season, there was no food or snacks available at the start of our round or when we came in after the 9th. The course is under construction and a bit of a mess around the first tee, and mid way through the back nine. Not well directed to each tee.
The greens were fantastic, views are amazing.
Super fun course right in town
Granite pointe is a fun course that was in great condition when I played it. The greens are quick and roll really well. Staff is friendly and it has a good vibe. Highly recommended.
Challenging Nelson golf course
This challenging course is not for the faint of heart especially the back nine. Course conditions were fair. Fairways were very undulating. Path ways were terrible. Golf cart was in poor condition and very noisy. Scenery was spectacular over Nelson and Lake Kootenay. No marshals so we asked to go ahead of four very slow golfers and there were several open holes ahead of us.
Good location, average course for the area
It's located in Nelson which is the main driver of the course. But based on condition, course layout, and amenities. It's an ok course. Balfour and Castlegar are better value courses in my opinion. Has potential to be a better operated course but that could also drive up overall costs. Course management is a tough business.
Great staff and great course
Love this place, great staff, Noah, Mateo, they all go out of their way to help you out.
