Always a good time
I enjoy the South course better, it’s a little easier, but both courses are great. Very nice scenic walk, and a half decent chance of seeing a bear, some deer, and definitely some eagles and other big birds.
Short course but narrow
Could be a Great shorter course if some money was spent on the maintenance.
Tee boxes not cut, greens have grass where the heads have white headed seeds, fairways could be in better condition.
Ricks
the course condition was good considering how much it has rained this spring, tee boxes were good, fairways good condition, just a little soft from the wet spring, bunker good, greens good condition, only flaw is the slow pace, it is only a 6000 yd . course from the back tee's but took us 4hours and 40 minutes to play.
perfect day, course not bad considering all the rain lately
good price, very nice in pro shop, considering all the rain as expected, tee boxes very good, greens rolled true
Not being a long ball hitter I always have a great time at both Golden Eagle North and South courses. From the whites both courses play very short but both are extremely fun. Nestled up against the mountains your front 9 and back have completely different feel. A great value under $50 on weekends in summer.
Triple Bogey
Golden Eagle Golf Course markets themselves as presenting a premium product - an excellent golf course in an excellent setting. in 2019, this was unfortunately not the case!
I played 3 rounds here, 2 in June and 1 in July and the quality had not improved even far into the season.
1) The Course: little to no attention had been paid to maintaining the course prior to winter, or early spring.
a) Bunkers were not filled with sand;
b) fairways were lumpy and uneven - often in extreme disrepair
c) greens were disgusting - sand channels running through the green - not even in puttable condition
2) Services: not enough staff members to run the clubhouse/pro shop.
a) carts were haphazard
b) poor guy at pro shop was trying his best but it was clear he needed extra staff to assist - this was apparent on 2 of 3 rounds.
3) General: it seemed that approx 1/3 of the entire course was GUR. Ideal for a wayward golfer that could play an entire round on preferred lies....
Not worth the cost of a round.
TLC
I feel this course is good for the amount it costs.
I would like to say that this course really does need some TLC, sometimes it looks like the pins and tee blocks haven’t been moved/changed in quite some time.
Golfers don’t seem to take the time to fix ball marks or divots, probably due to the fact that the course isn’t kept up by the owners/Golden Eagles, so if owners don’t care why would the golfers.
Maybe some care for the little things, like filling in some empty bunkers with sand, adding more sand to the ones that do have sand, trimming the surroundings would make it a lot better.
There is no half-way house after 9 holes, and I have never seen anyone on the course offering any drinks (water, juice, beer or food).
I rate this course overall, a solid 3 out 5 stars ....it just needs some TLC, that’s all, don’t think it would take much, maybe some better management.
Cheers.
power carts are a little pricey compared to other courses
but cost to play was very reasonable. I found the greens were in great condition.
First time playing here. Hot,humid day. Lost a few balls in the water, but had a very good day. Course was in good condition and the staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you.
