The Falls Golf Club

About
The Falls Golf Club in Chilliwack was carved from the foothills of Mount Cheam, providing the course with a dramatic landscape that is ideal for a challenging round. The views from the golf course span across the scenic Fraser Valley. The challenge and scenery of the Falls has earned it a reputation amongst locals as one of BC's best-kept secrets. The rolling terrain is accented with natural rock outcroppings and tall cedars, which both come into play throughout the golf course. The changes in elevation total over 750 feet, ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are many formidable holes but they each have an average of five sets of tees so that players of all abilities can play to their skill level. The Falls Golf Club's memorable fourth hole even has nine different tees as well as a 100-foot drop to the green.

Hot Day!!!
We had a great experience with the staff and the course. It was a very hot day and we didn't have options of getting water or any other liquids. We started out with a lot of liquids...but burned through that quickly. On the turn around, the food/beverage booth was closed and there was nowhere to fill our water bottles. Great experience...that was our only bit of criticism.
The Course Has ALL 18 Greens With Stress, Some Really Bad
I have not played The Falls in nearly 4 years. I like the course because it has good design, especially the back nine. The back nine is much easier than the front nine too. The biggest change in the course over 4 years is the zoysia fairways have come in nicely. Most of the tees are improved. Some are all zoysia and some are a mixture of grasses. The senior weekday rate of $47 is attractive, if the course didn't have the issues with their greens. If you play in the morning, the sun is right in your eyes on the 1st tee.
I’ve played numerous courses this summer. I see many courses with no stress to their greens. Maybe a few with a couple of greens that have stress from the hot summer temps. However, The Falls has ALL 18 greens under stress. Greens with brown grass, no grass, dirt and sand placed in bad areas. Some greens were really bad like holes 4, 8, 15. They have even placed new bent grass sod on the 8th green. They have a fan on that hole but it was not on.
The greens are heavily watered and don’t have much of a root system. Many muddy ball marks that mark up the greens.
There were a few tees in bad shape, which included a weed problem. These were 8, 17 & 18. The first 2/3 of the 18th fairway is awful (weeds, dirt). Not sure why the last 150 yards is a perfect zoysia fairway and the rest is really bad.
You should be able to find courses that have less issues with their greens in the metro area – that you should play instead.
Best bang for your buck, bar none!
Just superb, great day, perfect conditions and the greens were challenging.
Great place to play.
The course was in great shape. Bunkers would need more sand in them as they were pretty hard.
Conditions
The grass was mowed but the clippings were all over the place, lost balls in the clippings
Really gone down hill, literally
Grass that was cut was not bagged and left in clumpy lines all over the rough on the entire course. Tons of fallen leaves not cleaned up. Could not find your balls if you tried. Almost broke my ankle stepping into a hole that was covered by the clumpy grass.
. Course Marshalls on your case when you are going slow because you can’t find your balls under all the clumps of grass clippings. Course Marshalls will get on your case if very fast member groups are behind you, even when you’re well within your time limits. Cart Paths between holes are in horrific condition. Greens incredibly inconsistent - one would be incredibly slow, the next the ball would roll 15 feet past the hole with the same pace.
For the price they charge, this course is no longer on my play rotation. The view is nice on some of the holes but it’s unforgiving before all the poor maintenance issues and the sense of rush. Not a fun course at all.
The restaurant has a great spicy crispy chicken sandwich though.
Challenging course with Beautiful views
It is a beautiful mountain course and is challenging to golf. The course was really muddy and wet conditions which was not that fun to play. Has not rained for weeks so not sure why it is so muddy. Maybe they are overwatering. It is worth playing it for the views alone. I am a 20 handicap so I won’t be playing it again any time soon.
