Okay FOR THE PRICE but...
We got off to a bad start; there was some confusion as to the direction of the club; was it north or south of hwy 7. We did not see any signs to indicate where the club was. We only found it because we asked a person standing in their driveway who told us to keep going up the road. Pro shop told us they could only get us off "as carts came in from the course". Course was interesting enough and pretty with the autumn colours but the conditions were below average. Major issue for me was that scorecard yardage was different than posted on the sign at the hole making for some difficulty with club selection. Greens were fast but small and bumpy (boy, I wish golfers would repair their ball marks), We traveled about 90 km as a concession to a non-driving family member but would never do it again!! Sorry!
Fair & Challenging
This is a nice 18 Hole course that is a perfect size to challenge both the high handicapper and scratch golfer. It has some very interesting pin positions with greens that are well maintained. As clichéd as it may sound, keeping it in the fairway is the most important part for success on this golf course. You can play it without a driver or if your a long hitter you can drive several greens on this course.
worth the drive
Shorter course that lets you reach greens in regulation even if you are not a long hitter. Some tough pin placements on mounded greens led to a lot of 3 putt greens. Fairly laid back course let me play as a single so I finished in under 2 and a half hours.
Good course
The course was great was challenging enough for a beginner like myself with the right amount of short and long holes to practice.
no marshal...play like turtle..no manner
Terrible experience...each hole we had to wait 5-10 minutes ....green was empty but front team didn't hit the ball and had a chat and say hi to the other playes ....3 teams were waiting for them...no sorry..terrible...
Nice and easy. Enjoyable.
Fairways are well kept and wide, so quite forgiving. Greens run true resulting in many 1 putts. Wooded surrounding and countryside setting is very pleasing, make for enjoyment. Some challenging longish par 3s will test your accuracy. The short par 4s can yield easy pars and make you believe that you are good. Finally this is what golf is all about, feeling good after a round of 6 or 8 pars!
good value
this course is worth the drive out of the city but you will notice a couple greens that need work done...this definitely affected my putting. Either than that a good 3 1/2 hour round. Will return!
Good Course-staff was great
Love playing there, staff was very friendly and cooperative . Surly will play again... Highly recommend
Painfully Slow
Hadn't played this course for a couple of summers, due to the overbooked, incredibly slow pace of play. Thought we'd give it another shot. Unfortunately, that is still the case. Asking a marshall for some friendly intervention with the slow groups in front is nothing more than a waste of breath. Won't be back.
Great ... Sure will go again...!!
It was good time there... Staff was great... They helped us to for joining our 2 groups , every one there was very friendly and helpful... Surly recommend this course and will be there frequently...!!
nasty
Only for the beginner. Condition of course isn't even worth describing . For the dollar value I would rather go to the range!
Very good course
This course is great for the price! The workers are friendly and fairways are maintained. Great for all levels of golfers!
short course, avarage conditions
First time playing at Acton GC, some waiting before the tee off, lots of beginners out there, it was a sunny warm day so conditions were good but I can see the course being soft at times. Very short even from the back tees, and not that challenging either.
Good service during the round!
Overall I was Impressed
Acton golf club is great value for you dollar. They charge you $36 for 18 holes with a cart. For that price I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong.
The staff in the pro shop were excellent, we went golfing on Fathers day (so I was expecting it to be very busy) so there was a bit of delay but they kept everyone well organized. The only thing I found odd and didn't particularly like was the fact they were allowing groups of 5 and 6 to play together. I understood because it was Fathers day and I can appreciate families wanting to play together.
The course was a lot more than I expected. It was decently maintained. The greens were a little hard and the ball had the tendency to run a little bit, but any golfer should be able to adjust to that after a few holes.
The course is basically cut out of the forest so it makes it more scenic then some others out there. I enjoyed the second hole (although short) as it is a tiny par 3 basically right in the middle of a wooded area. I would caution anyone who plays this course to make certain they bring some bug spray.
Well worth the money, again not the most challenging course, but it might be one the better value courses around.
short and narrow small greens
This course is not for any even mildly serious golfer. Mostly seniors who can barely hit the 150 yds off the tee play. I would not play there again.
My home course
I play here 10 - 15 times a season and enjoy it every time.
great value with challenging holes
Fairways are not ideal, hard and patchy but well defined. I'm sure a result of our past tough winter. Greens forces you to think twice before your putt and will tend to fool you close to the hole.
some great holes
Overall for the money not bad, greens need some work as they were slow and pock marked in some cases. Opportunity to hit driver and some long irons is nice, .
Good times
We loved this course. Though not perfect it was a lot of fun to play and the value was great. We are looking forward to going back. Our round came with a power cart but I think I will enjoy the walk the next time I go out on a HOT DEAL even though a power cart is included. The staff was super friendly and helpful
Good value but suffering from a long winter
I've played Acton several times before and found it to be a good value and even better value now that it's on golfnow.com.
After a long winter though the course (specifically the greens) are in some rough shape. Pace of play was good getting around in four hours despite sitting on each tee box for 3-5min every hole waiting for multiple groups of two ahead of us.
The only complaint I have is that none of the yardages on the score card matched what was posted on the tee boxes. This made playing the par 3's a little challenging.
