Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course

I played the Ariss Valley golf course in early October of 2026. I previously played the course in the fall of 2025.

I understand that ownership has decided to stop spending money on pesticides and it’s very evident because the greens are not playable. The former Superintendent resigned because the ownership decided to micromanage his ability to do the job he was hired to do.

If you are a recreational golfer who just wants to practice hitting the ball or you’re looking to get drunk then this is the golf course for you. Provided that you can get the round of golf for under $30. It’s basically a driving range now where you have to pickup your golf ball once you hit the green.

Maybe they could have a roll of Astro turf and you can use that to putt the ball on towards the hole? Or they can have sand greens like they do in northern Saskatchewan.

I saw a lot of staff working in the clubhouse and on the course. There is no logic in trying to save money by destroying the most important aspect of any golf course which is the greens, Does this new owner even play golf it’s very obvious that whoever owns the golf course doesn’t understand the business.

I will return to play this golf course as long as the price is reasonable based on the course conditions as I really enjoy the layout.

Great offering of 3 nine hole options. I like the layout. Some of the tee boxes were a little shabby, especially the red/yellow tee boxes. Greens were inconsistent, some were in rough shape. Staff were great.

The greens were a little slow, given the time of year in not going to complain though. The bunkers are horrible, unplayable as a bunker. Otherwise it was a great course.

Really like the layout, super wide fairways, everything in great shape except for the bunkers, they are unplayable, they have just given up on the bunkers. Beautiful views from many places in the course. Greens rolled true and pretty quick even though they were a tad long. I will be back for sure.

This course is a fantastic course to play. 3 different course to choose from. Willows pines and lakes. All are fun, with some challenges. Greens need alot of TLC. Staff are super friendly too. Will be back again.

This course used to be very beautiful however, the green keeping is very bad. The grand crew left grass clipping everywhere on the fairway and the rough. The clipping of the green was dump directly next to a bunker. All bunkers have no sand and only weed. The least they can do is pull some weed or spray some roundups. Don’t come!

The course needs yardage markers - red 100 yards away, white 150 yards away, and blue 200 yards away.

Course wasn’t in the best shape, It’s way over priced. Gone way down hill.

Let's be honest...it's a little rough. Fairways are shaggy and inconsistent. Like a lot of undervalue courses (but they charge premium prices, especially on weekends) they have given up on the bunkers. They're just weed hazards of mud. Greens are 5 out of 10. I believe they lost a greenskeeper a while back and they cant get it right. 3 - 9 hole courses at play here with The Lakes taking the prize for best 9 holes to play. Kinda scenic. The day my brother and I played they had a tournament on the Lake Course and it was a family and friends deal complete with LOUD music, yelling and hollering etc....pretty bad

I've played Ariss before and the course was in great shape. Today, the course was lacking and wasn't in good condition. Bunkers were over grown by weeds, rough was over growing into the greens, rough was not cut, fairways had multiple weeds. The staff is very friendly, the greens themselves were is excellent shape.

Greens had bare spots on every hole. Sand traps had no Sand and a lot of weeds, very disappointing. Not worth the money

When I checked in at the desk, I was told that the starter would pair me up with another player but when I got to the first hole there was no starter. After I walked back to the clubhouse, I was told I could just start on my own. I played 18 holes as a single which I enjoyed but it was a bit of a confusing start. At one point a course employee on a golf cart came up to me and told me that I should let the pair behind me (who were in a cart) play through because I was walking. But the reality was that I was waiting for the foursome in front of me at virtually every hole. Ariss Valley offers good value and I enjoyed my afternoon. My main complaint would be the lack of yard markers as you approach the greens. I played 18 holes but only saw 2 or 3 markers. I don't have a scope or GPS so I missed numerous shots when I misjudged the approach distance. A few more benches would be appreciated by those walking.
