Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course
About
Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club, located in southwestern Ontario on the outskirts of Guelph, offers three different nine-hole golf courses. All 27 holes stretch across a beautiful rolling landscape that is dotted with large ponds. The land is also densely forested, making shot accuracy integral in doing well. The Valley's creek also meanders through several holes. Each golf course at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club is uniquely designed to offer a variety of different challenges. The Lakes Course, as its name implies, features plenty of water hazards. There are also strategically placed, Ohio white sand bunkers to be cautious of. Although it has a good amount of challenges, players of all skill levels will enjoy the golf courses at Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club.

Dry, brown and burnt out
Pros - great price off Golf now, Greens were in good shape, staff were friendly. Course layout and design was decent
Cons - while the greens were in good shape, the rest of the course was terrible. The fairways were completely brown, burnt and rock hard. The tee blocks were like concrete and chewed up. Many bunkers had been backfilled and those that remained had weeds, and were also like concrete. It was apparent that beyond the greens, this golf course had zero irrigation systems, or if they did, they certainly weren't being used. I think in the spring when mother nature adds some water, the course could be decent, but given its current burnt out conditions, other courses in the area with proper irrigation represent a better choice
ARISS VALLEY FIRST TIME
i have been meaning to play this course for 20 years and wish i had earlier!
There are 3 nines, we played Pines and Willows,.
Many very scenic holes, well laid out, don't feel like you are crowded by adjacent holes. lots of elevation changes, be a challenge to walk and a bit of a journey to next tee on a couple holes but overall easy to navigate.
Decently wide fairways, lots of undulation in the greens and couple blind tee shots, but no surprises over the hill. Trees with low branches are pretty clear.
Couple of holes play over a creek,. The 4th on Pines has the creek bisecting the fairway twice but not extreme carries to clear water on any hole.
Greens were true, some fairways and a few tee boxes were very dry but recent dry weather would account for most of this probably
very friendly staff and were paired up with very nice local couple that had played here and were able to provide some local knowledge.
Will make this a more frequent stop. Not cheap but within local norm s this year
Directionally challenged!!!
Course is challenging but trying to find the next hole is even more challenging. Need better signage.
New management- things look better
Generally in good shape. Bunkers were poor however course is under new management and looks like work is being done. Recommend
Great condition
They were calling for rain so we were one of the few on the course minor sprinkles only had the course to ourselves most of the round:)
Rain out, but great condition
Although the rain halted our round of 18, the first 8 (Willows) were exactly as I had hoped: course in great condition (some frost damage on some greens), but fairways were dry and well maintained. Long rough is spots, but that’s golf!
Got a rain cheque without problems when horn sounded even though power went out.
Great experience given the circumstances. And always great value only a few minutes outside of Guelph.
a very good average course
Wasn't busy so the starter selected which of the 3 nines to use, the greens were good , the traps ok but not great, and they were in the process of cutting the fairways that had grown long with the rain last week . Clubhouse is undergoing some nice renovations which should take a few more weeks to complete . Overall a very nice average course to play .
Water everywhere
Today my wife, son and I played the pines and willows course at Ariss Valley. With no one in front and no one behind to keep pace with, we explored shot making and approaches. Greens were faster than usual for this early in the year, and they ran true, fairways are drying out and no plugging this round, getting some good roll.
The sun was shining and decent shots were rewarded so you can't ask for better.
