Tarandowah Golfers Club
About
Tarandowah Golfers Club has a unique layout that closely resembles traditional Scottish links golf courses. There are undulating greens and sloped fairways that are made up of bentgrass and wispy fescue. Although there are no water hazards, Tarandowah Golfers Club boasts more than 100 deep, sod-faced bunkers that prove to be just as challenging if not more. Strong winds blow through the golf course, a factor that will affect your game if not careful. Tarandowah Golfers Club has several tricky uphill par 4s, but its longest and one of its more challenging holes is the par-5 14th, which stretches to 588 yards.

Terrific course
Excellent tees, fairways & especially the tuff greens! The variety of tee blocks are outstanding! First time ever getting a flat tire on the buggy, mentioned to a greens staff & within minutes a new cart was brought out! Crazy British Open winds, but loved it!
Tarandowah Golfers Club
The course had been through quite a bit of rain. Unfortunately the staff don’t answer phones until after 9AM so was difficult to confirm whether power carts would be allowed. As it was we sucked it up and walked anyway. A number of the fairways were quite wet - as could be understood after quite a lot of rain. The greens drained very well so were rolling nicely. It was a nice day, a bit of rain, wind on a nice links course in southwest Ontario.
Just Don't Get It!
Golf courses run like this, will lead to a pandemic shutdown of all golf courses. They had ONE cart with a divider to provide separation from riders and they charged $35 for the cart.
I was last here in May, when they had had scads of golfers on their patio, no masks, no social distancing.
If you are concerned about Covid, this is not where you want to golf.
Decent course
A great layout and a good challenging course!!
The greens were in great condition and I would recommend this course !!
The only problem I would say were the tee boxes which were not very good!
But overall a great day out!
New Management is Clueless
I'm curious to know the legality of publishing coupons in the Passport or Golf Fore All books and not honouring them at the course due to "new management." I'm also curious to know how many golf courses- like Tarandowah- do not have a replay rate. Needless to say- I won't be returning to a course that I've played twice a year for the past decade because of the new management; I guess it's more important to have an empty golf course than have golfers pay less than full rate.
That being said, the course layout is still fantastic and the greens were in good shape; but the tee boxes were an unmitigated disaster and the cart paths were brutal. I supposed we could blame Covid for the poor conditions, but that might be excusing the "new management."
My recommendation: hire someone in the pro shop who isn't miserable. It might help if she didn't have to book tee times, collect green fees, sort out power carts, act as the starter, and marshal the course from the pro shop.
Picturesque Golf for a Good Price
Absolutely love this course. Very well maintained, with perfect greens and tee boxes. Bunkers are well maintained also, considering there are over 100 of them. The staff cut down the fescue so you can find balls and even play them. I played for $35 and you cannot beat that value in the London area.
This is a tough course with fast green, come here to play your best golf.
needs better management
new owners don't have a handle on this course yet. Lots of very thin grass and tight lies on the fairways makes for a very difficult round for most golfers who cannot pinch the ball.
I am not a fan of the tall grass on the top of bunkers. As if they are not penal enough, you have balls that get hung up on the downward slopes of these bunkers.in tall thick grass. It takes mean management to keep them like this.
great but needs work
I had been looking forward to playing this course for some time. I had heard it was the closest thing to playing golf in Scotland without going there. I loved the course. It has deep bunkers, lots of fescue and rolling greens. The course does need some work after coming out of receivership. Tee boxes are sparse at best. Paths need repair. The fairways are not pristine but then again you are playing a links course so you should expect that.
The biggest complaint are the on-course washrooms. No one in the pro shop said anything about the washrooms being closed, actually nailed shut. My wife did find one that was opened but would not enter it was so disgusting. Only a fire could save them. The staff should at the very least let the patrons know that the facilities are closed.
I will go back for sure. Not sure about my wife though. At $40.00 to walk it's a great deal and pure golf. With a little investment it could be GREAT.
Needs TLC
Disappointed with course conditions. I’ve always enjoyed the layout and design in the past. Greens were in very good condition, however tee boxes were atrocious, cart paths dangerous, power carts need to be cleaned up and or replaced. No one has (Staff) seemed to have raked a bunker in weeks nor emptied their trash receptacles in days with beer cans and sorted garbage strewn on the ground in numerous places. Hard to believe this course is ranked #114 in Canada - not in my books. Not sure I will return.
Fantastic Natural Layout!
A beautiful Links styled course that was very enjoyable while also being a true test. If you like flat greens and level lies in the fairway then this might not be for you. Very entertaining round and definitely worth the drive to check out this gem.
Need More Carts
Hot Day. No extra power carts. Was advised to call pro shop to get a cart for the back nine as #9 does not come back to the club house. Called at least 9 times...no answer.
Felt like I was in Scotland!
The links course, the wind and over cast day really made it feel like I was in Scotland. Very interesting and fun course to play. As a first timer, some holes were difficult to judge as there are blind shots and some disguised obstacles. The Starter warned us that everything angles to trouble so you need to be straight. Fortunately, I was hitting the ball well that day. I did find 2 fairway pot bunkers and took 2 shots to get out of each - very difficult with hard packed sand! Really enjoyed the experience and challenge. I would love to return & try it again sometime. I drove 2 hours to play the course and was happy with my day.
Played the tips
Really challenging from the back tees (7100 yards, par 70) Fun course to maneuver your way around, ground was pretty hard but greens rolled really well. You’ll lose a lot of balls if you are wild off the tee. The surrounding fescue can often be played out of, bunkers could be in better shape (especially with how many there are). Ignore how the course looks on their Instagram page, way nicer & solid rolling hills in reality. Would definitely recommend to more experienced golfers (not for beginners).
