Woodlands
Have played this course a few times over the last 5 years and it has always been in good shape and very friendly staff.
Best course in the area
Simply can't be beat for value. Greens were aerated but healing up.
Pleasant Surprise
Based on reviews we read, we were expecting a cow pasture with a frosty reception in the pro shop. How wrong we were. The pro shop sign in was warm and friendly and the course was a delight...challenging, yet fair. Well worth the drive! We will be back.
Excellent course with very good service
This is an excellent course. The service is so outstanding. I have had the best golfing experience in Canada with this course. Both pro shop and marshal are so professional, golfer friendly and responsible. Lovely course, lovely staffs, and excellent service!
Staff Manager - just plain rude
The Manager - a short blonde middle aged lady was just outright rude. Our tee time was 3:32 and we arrived around 3:10. Another couple from London had also booked with golfnow at 3:32 and had arrived around 3:00 and since there was nobody else teeing off at that time had asked if they could tee off early. That just set this lady off and she took it out on us. A cart was included in our booking but I asked if it was okay we would just walk. She insisted that we had to take a cart - we couldn't tee off until exactly 3:32 and we had to golf with the other couple. She said she hated golfnow and didn't like the people who used golf now. She sent the ranger out 3 times to check on us. He said he was just doing what he was told. Kind of ruined our day. We have golfed here before and she wasn't around and we had never had a problem.
Very Disappointed
We arrived at 1455 for our scheduled 1532 tee off time. There were only about 10 cars in the parking lot and the course did not appear to be busy. The female staff person would not let us tee off early and told us that we had to golf with another couple even though the other couple were walkers (we were in a cart) and the course was not at all busy. The female staff person informed us that if we wanted to get off early, we would have to pay the full price. We had a cheaper rate through golf now. We have used golf now in the past and have never had this situation arise before.
great all around course
Was the first time playing this course. The course was in excellent condition, fairways, greens, well maintained, greens ran true. Pace of play was good, no waiting. Got there alittle earlier, the starter let us go ahead of our tee time. Nice and quiet, very peaceful setting, took our time and enjoyed all the scenery. Took alot of pictures. Overall was a very pleasant round of golf. Will definetly be going back again. Can't comment on the food, sorry, had a late tee time.
Reverse Engineer
This is a great course to learn golf at your own pace .
Park Course
Enjoyed the round.Staff were friendly, course was well maintained.
Wouldn't classify it as a links course, more park like.
Fair course with adequate variety.
Breezy day that kept the mosquitoes away.On a calm day bug spray is a must.
You'll know you're in cattle country.
Happy with the course but not with golfnow
I wasn't all that happy to find out that I paid more to play the course by going through Golf Now than I would have just going through the golf course itself.
Great Value
I am a former member of Woodlands, and playing it made me miss it. Everything was in great shape. Greens were VERY fast, but great to putt on. Gordon, Steve and the crew have it in excellent condition. If i hadn't moved i would still be a member!
Interesting
Found the tee blocks were in poor condition, the fairways were too long from what we normally play. Overall the course is average at best.
Sub 2 hours as a riding single at 1PM, how can you go wrong
The weather was suspect with pretty high winds so probably scared many off but the course played well, greens were in great shape and fairways and rough were well maintained. Playing the Gold tees there were a few tee blocks that are looking a little worse for wear but I suspect this is more to do with they locations tucked in the trees then anything else. Overall the course was in great shape. I avoided all the bunkers so cannot comment on the condition of play (thankfully). Picked up a great deal here which was certainly great value for the dollar.
Lots of bugs
I drove about 1-1/2 hrs to play this course which I have played at least 4 times previous. I found the course poorly marked as to where the next hole was and how to get there. The course was in reasonable shape. I had intended to play 18 holes and had paid for same but the knats and deer flys were so bad you could not take time to line up putts or shots as you would be attached. I very much doubt I will return. When I asked in the pro shop after nine holes the response was gee that's too bad.
Course
Course was in great shape for theis time of year and because it was cooler this day - no bugs.
Nice Course to Play
This course located in Clinton, Ontario is a lovely outing and worth giving a try. We drove in from 1 hour away and enjoyed our round there. The only negative was the little black flies in the face in many spots around the course. When the wind picked up, we golfed with pleasure. Some of the holes are quite challenging with water/creek/ponds, trees and bunkers to play around. A couple of the holes have rather blind shots, but, when riding...we just checked ahead, so, all was well. The 'clubhouse' is an old barn that has been fixed up as a pro shop. Interesting. The facility offers nice lunch sandwiches (for which we had to wait over 5 minutes before moving on to our next 9 holes...okay though). A round of golf walking is $30, but, we had a special coupon which was lessened the price and included the riding cart. All in all, a nice course to play. (Smell was bad from a farmer applying liquid manure...oh for another day!)
not a single good thing to say
bugs were horrible, almost unplayable. not a single level tee off block, most barely had hittable areas because the grass was worn to the dirt. Being a longer hitter almost half the tee shots are blind which makes for slower play and overall frustration never knowing where you ball ended up. course featured almost no bunkers or water that was actually in play. Senior members walked on the course mid round, jamming things up. I almost walked off this course mid round because I was do displeased with this place. Don't waste your money, when you can play Mitchell or seaforth, which are far far far better options.
Clinton Golfing
Great course conditions. Good pace throughout the whole day - rarely had to wait for people in front.
Course could use some better signage to direct to next hole.
We played until the 18th tee and then noticed the tee blocks to the 15th hole which we missed!
Finished and came back and did the 15th - wondered how our score did not match up.
Would play here again, fairways good greens very good.
