Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Canada
All I can say is WOW. From the moment we arrived we were treated better than members of a private club. Staff went out of the way to welcome us, providing tips about not only the course but food recommendations in the clubhouse as well ( try the Pretzel Bites you will not be disappointed).
Pace of play was reasonable ( 4 hours and 20 minutes) and the course was in fantastic condition with fast greens. As a member of a private club, all I can say is “Copetown Woods Golf you exceeded our expectations“...my club could certainly learn from your exceptional level of service. We will be back!!!
A must play
So glad I finally got to play this course. Well run and organized, pace of play was solid. Marshall's are friendly and helpful. course itself was in terrific shape.
Took a quick lunch to go prior to the round and came back for wings and beer after. All were really tasty and our group had a great time.
Excellent course, First time playing
Absolutely loved this golf course. It is challenging in some areas, forgiving in others. Pace of play was just over 4hrs, which is basically unheard of during Covid.
I hope to play this course again this season.
Thanks for the round!
I love playing here regularly and have forthe several years. Not only is the clubhouse great but the layout of the golf course and it’s conditions are always fabulous! The friendliness and service of Barry & his team is next to none. If you have time, you should stay for something to eat!
Very nice golf course.
Beautiful course, well maintained, with very nice greens. The club house is also lovely.
Great morning deal
Course in good shape and greens fast and true. Starter gave great course info and a pleasure to have there
Gem of a course
Played yesterday morning @8am with a buddy, so we got paired up with a father & son ( Hello to the 2 Mike's ;) ).
Every staff member we met was extremely courteous. There was one instance where we were travelling between holes and encountered three greenkeepers heading in the opposite direction. They all moved off the path, stopped and gave us right of way. I thought this was a nice touch that was an obvious management instruction. Super customer service.
Course conditions were great.
- Greens quite fast and very true. I would suggest to improve whatever they're doing once they moved the holes, as older holes are very apparent for a seemingly long time after they're replaced.
- Bunkers have lovely white sand and are great to play out of. The natural areas ( large bunker-type areas beside some fairways) are very well kept too.
- Tee boxes are huge, well kept and flat.
- Fairways for the most part were good but need a bit more work. The 9th hole especially is quite bare. If you go to a high end course then you'll understand that a good fairway is like a carpet, with a little bit of bounce.
Didn't sample food.
Speed of play was good, 4hrs for the round. Spotted a marshall a few times, making sure everything was in order.
Liked the way the starter was organized and gave a wee speech about divots etc.
Carts are top notch, with a big screen that can keep score and gives GPS distances to everything. I didn't use my rangefinder once, which is alien to me lol. Just don't drive too far into natural areas or the cart will stop. Found out this last year when my boss got in trouble ( was so funny).
Can't wait to go back!
Copetown Woods is a gem
Course was in great shape. We played from the blue/white hybrid tees and at 6,200 yards it was both challenging and fair. Course staff were very friendly and the amenities were excellent. I definitely plan to play there more often, especially given that it's reasonably priced.
Very nice course
It was a very busy day on the course. We teed off 30 minutes late. The staff and grounds are first rate. Pace of play was a bit slow. Didn’t see a Marshall anywhere. The course is mostly par 4’s with a few 3’s and 5’s mixed in. Challenging enough for most golfers.
Open and playable course always in great shape
This is one of our Go To courses through the golf season. Very good staff and provides good golf value. The course used to be a broccoli farm years ago and transformed into a playable yet challenging golf course. Always in very good condition despite the high volume it gets. My only complaint would be pace of play on the weekends. It can get slow (5 hrs) because of it's popularity. Despite that, it provides a good challenge to all levels of golfers and has various tee blocks for advanced or not-so-advanced golfers. My wife plays in a ladies league on Tuesdays here and loves it! They really do a terrific job with the leagues and provide great value for golf and food services within the clubhouse. Some holes on the course have very generous fairways and quite open, as well as other holes being fairly tight and demanding accurate tee shots or approach shots because of water. A really playable and enjoyable course!!
This course is in great condition has all the different kinds of hazards sand, water, fescue, and playable oasis style dirt areas. Some fairways are narrow making this a challenging course that always seems to get the best of me.
Course layout was good, I felt that there were 16 solid holes but 2 were a squeezed in. Overall condition was ok but suffered a bit from poor green and fairway repairs by patrons, also a fair bit of maintenance u derway around the course. I hit the ball about 310 off the tee and probably needed to play off the champ tees as I only pulled out the driver 3 or 4 times, the hybrid did most of the heavy lifting of the tee.
The course was in great shape and the staff Wirth very helpful! The Marshalls were present on the course making the pace enjoyable. I will definitely be back!
Copetown- must do
Great course with lots of challenge
Well worth the drive, and don’t forget to have a bite to eat with the fantastic broccoli salad.
This is a yearly staple for us
Nice layout in great shape
Copetown woods is one of the premier public courses in the area. Great layout and always in good shape. The greens are interesting, but fair. The traps are kept in pristine condition. Pricey unless you do the early bird or get a golf now special, but definitely worth trying out.
