Chambers County Golf Course

About
Towns of 2,000 residents tend to offer the ultimate in confidence-building golf, which is definitely the case here at Chambers County. Most of those courses are only 9-holers, however. This 1960s-style track, built by county engineer R.T. Pinchback, boasts the full 18, which lay out over 180 acres of heavily wooded wetlands on the east side of Galveston Bay.
Pinchback's design is mostly open, although there are a few holes with narrow, tree-lined fairways. Bunkering is minimal, and the rough is manageable if you miss the fairway. Water comes into play on over half the holes.
Two holes stand out on each side. No. 6 is the most beautiful: a 428-yard tester that requires two shots over water before reaching the green. No. 18 features one of those narrow fairways, tight at only 25 yards and intimidating because it's generally into the wind. The hole bends and you'll need a 250-yard drive to reach the corner.
Getting there : Take I-10 east from Houston and exit 812. Turn right, and the course is on the left down the road.

Off the beaten path, casual, fun
This is a nice golf course that plays through some fairly wooded acreage. Although every hole is framed by trees, for the most part they are sparse enough - and the fairways wide enough - that with a few exceptions decent drives will go unpunished. The greens were in very nice shape and rolled very true. Fairways and roughs were soggy and not at the level of the greens, but it did not detract from the round at all, and probably reflects a good use of resources by course management.
The course tips out a 6,800 which, in combination with pretty slow fairways, presents a stout golf course from the Blue Markers. The course had few cars in the lot when I arrived without a tee time at 10am on a nice Saturday morning and I was able to walk the course in under 2.5 hours.
Chambers update
Considering lack of rain, course was in great shape! Not really busy for a Saturday.
Amazing go play
What a gem! To play this course you won’t regret it! Staff is very friendly too!
So so
We went to driving range first and Marshall asked ya to start on #10 no problem. After we finished 18 they told us the front 9 was closed so they could fertilize the greens, so we had to play the back again.
Great course
Course is in great condition overall. Very friendly staff. I recommend this course to any one wanting to try out a great course.
Chambers County Course
Amazing course with amazing staff. They’re actively working on the cart path and have beautiful fairways. One or two dirt spots on the greens but overall a great course at a great price. Not a lot as far as concessions go so bring your snacks and drinks with you.
Great Greens
Course is well maintained and the greens are in great shape.
Very well kept course.
Very well kept course. Great staff. Overall very enjoyable afternoon. I will definitely be playing there a lot.
Good Course for the price!
Tee boxes, and fairways were in good shape. The greens were fair as well. Nothing bad to say, except the flooding on the cart paths. Muddy areas on the way to the greens. But that's because of the rain the night before.
Great overall experience
The staff is friendly and respectful. The course is always in the best shape possible.
narrow fairways
if you can keep it in the fairway you can get a good score
Pleasant Surprise, Good Shape, Nice Greens
A little ways out from Houston. Went there on a recommendation. Found it to be in very good shape. The greens were really nice. This one is fairly good especially for the price.
A fun place to play
Always have a great time at Chambers County. I play here 4 times a year. Wish they had more food available.
best affordable golf
For the money, this is the best course on the far east side of Houston. Pace of play is great. Friendly staff and most golfers will let you play through when they should.
Chambers County little secret
I play this course any time I come to the Houston area. It has a unique feel and it is superb for being a County golf course. The greens are always in great shape and well maintained. The fairways are narrow with trees lining the sides which can make for some interesting shots. Your skills can be put on display off of the tee box on any hole, this course is designed very well with dog legs being perfect disntance an water hazards placed in some challenging locations which gets to the mental aspect of the game. There are not many sand bunkers or changes in elevation through the golf course. Probably the biggest problem I have with the course are the tee boxes are not level. They have been doing a lot of work over the past couple of years and I would imagine it is on their to do list. Overall this is a great course and very fun to play!
