nice course
it was a very pleasant surprise to play this curse. it was well maintained and had some very interesting holes. I did not like the walk back to the back tees. the greens are well maintained, in fact the course is in good condition.
Good value
Couple greens questionable but otherwise good. Picturesque course.
Nice course - would play again.
The course was very green and lush. The rough was fairly thick if you didn't stay on the fairway. Greens were smooth and fast. Played on a Wednesday and teed off around 11:30 - was not very busy so we took our time and had a great round. Several blind shots made it interesting. Reminded me of a parkland type of course - no real water hazards. Got a good deal on Golf Now website - not sure if I would pay full posted rate.
Played from the whites as playing partners play once a year - they really enjoyed the course.
Didn't see the beverage cart until hole 11. Had lunch and dinner there as well - nice venue. Would play it again.
Great Day of Golf
Starter let us off early which helped us get done earlier than anticipated. Course wasn't overbooked and we never had any delays waiting for other groups. Greens were in good shape but were extremely fast.
Generous & Well Maintained
Great pace, well moderated, and well maintained course. A little on the easy side.
Oustanding deal for four, 18 holes + carts!
Good value, nice staff
2nd time playing the course. Course conditions were very good, and given this summer's weather in Southern Ontario that is the minimum people are expecting. Staff were very friendly and efficient - pro shop checkin took about 3 minutes including getting cart keys distributed.
Pace of play was slower than I would have liked. We were 2:20 on the front nine and about the same on the back.
Layout is very nice, with lots of elevation change and holes that wind their way through farmland and other nice scenery. What I really don't like about the course is the number of blind tee shots you have. Both tough to play and makes you feel a bit unsafe.
Overall a good value at the Golfnow rate I paid. Would not pay full rate however.
Fairways were in excellent condition.
A nice challenge with great hills making shot placement important. You get to use all your clubs. Plays beautiful from the blues. The greens hold well.
Good improvements from the 3 new back tees.
Elmira has always been a well maintained course. It is a good test for all golfers. Especially now (June 2013) that they have 3 new back tee boxes. Adds 180yrd and more importantly, trees into play. From the back you have to work the ball both ways.
Bottom line, a good course to play anytime.
Course was quite wet, and rutted.
Disappointed in condition of the course. Course was quite wet, and cart tire rutts all over the course, including fairways.
good pace of play
We played after it had a few days of rain so it was very soggy.
It is a hilly and challenging course, and on a hot muggy day I would recommend taking a power cart.
just ok
Ball not on fairway means its hidden in grass much too high and you must step on to locate translates in longer play, also we saw golfers stragling with hits from such grass, no sign of marshal on GC we played other courses in ontario in much better shape, sorry ,but we will not be coming back!
Very challenging but fun to play
Great course, surprisingly challenging, lots of hills, narrow fairways, nice use of water
A very good test
Another week of good weather and the course will be excellent
Great couse and staff kept the pace going
Liked the course but I don't like this review process. I wrote a review summary and don't have the time or inclination to write an additional 50 characters in the review box
Layout was good, but a lot of blind 1st shots.
The course was challenging enough for the average player. Conditions were fair for it being late in the season, but price point is a little high considering many great alternatives around the area.
many up and down, slopes in both fairway and green.
Very challenging course not because of long distance, but because of some difficult lies and fast green. Recommend to everyone.
Very difficult greens.
Really interesting course. Always keeps you off balance as there is so many holes that are changing elevation.
Just OK.
Basic layout, under construction, over priced. I would not recommend this course.
good challange
One of the best opening holes in the area. The back 9 plays a little harder than the front 9--I like the back. Allows you to hit the ball long while greens are slick. Course was in great shape!
If you like a picturesque, mature, affordable course that's in good condition, this is it.
The first time I played Elmira, if you stood on the first tee and looked from your left all the way to your right, you could see a lot of the holes that make up the majority of the course. The second time I played it was on September 1, 2012. What a pleasant difference! Most of the holes are tree lined on both sides making distractions from other groups minimal. Although the course is not long or slope rated very high by today's standards, it's challenging enough for all levels of play. Care must be taken on the approach shot to the greens, due to elevation changes, in order to place the ball in the same quadrant as the pin. If you don't, you'll end up with some long and tricky putts (3-putt territory!). The greens were an absolute delight to putt on. They rolled true, smooth, and consistent in speed.
