Oak Gables Golf Club - Oak Course
About
The three nine-hole courses at Oak Gables Golf Club are each named after trees that can be found blanketing the gently rolling hills. Though the landscapes are similar, the Oak, Maple, and Pine Courses each manage to offer something a little different but they are all player friendly enough to be enjoyed by a wide range of skill levels. The Maple Course is touted as “the pride of Oak Gables,” but the Oak Course offers just as challenging a round. The golf course opens with its toughest hole, a lengthy par 5 that is routed around and over a large pond on the left. There is also a creek that cuts right across the fairway. The six par 3s are a unique feature of the layout, ranging in length from 125 yards up to 188. It’s a golf course that will test your skills in a variety of different ways.

Fun for beginners, great value
We played 18 holes at Oak Gables (Maple & Oak) for $20/pp with a cart. The course is not particularly challenging and forgiving enough to allow a beginner golfers to get a couple par's. It is not a long course; we were a foursome playing slowly and finished in four hours.
If you're looking to go play a fun round with friends where everyone leaves with that nice feeling of having hit a couple shots and not losing many golf balls, Oak Gables is a good bet.
my new favorite course
all this course needs are some sand traps. vary little water too.
Good Bang for your Buck
This is a nice no frills kind of course consisting of 3 separate 9 hole courses. The course was in great shape and the greens played true to the land. All in all this was a great course with not too many people slowing us down.
Not a difficult course.. Great round for the money.. Many young golfers and a great course to bring your kids..
Great price
Course not too difficult
Great place to bring young or new golfers.
Fun time
This course is hilly but "friendly"
As a beginner, I enjoyed playing this course. It is hilly and open in several areas. I did not lose any balls, nor was I frustrated. It has three 9 holes courses that allows for 3 groups of players to start at the same time.
Very Short
Not very challenging or very long. Good for the beginner golfer, not for those who want a challenge
Not bad for what you pay. Customer service greatly exceeded expectations!
Oak Gables is a great course for the beginner to intermediate golfer. An enjoyable design, and perfect for the avid golfer that's looking to hone their short game without the peskiness of hazards. After reading some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised to find the course conditions were FAR better than described in some of the negative reviews. Great assortment of chipping/putting greens; however, the driving range is a little too close for comfort to the actual course.
The most positive, and frankly surprising, aspect of the whole experience was the customer service. From the moment you arrive they have club service guys load your clubs onto your cart for you, saving you the trouble of carrying them through the club house. The clubhouse employees are incredibly nice and helpful, and ensure you have all that you need (rentals/score cards etc.). And finally the course starter gets you sorted and ensures your game moves along fluidly with little holdups.
In all, if you're an advanced golfer and relish a challenge, this course may not be for you. However, for those who enjoy a slightly more laid back experience, with some forgiveness in the fairways, and well-maintained greens then I'd absolutely recommend this course!
Will certainly play Oak Gables again.
It's a good short course that you can use a driver on several holes and the course is arranged so you are not ducking balls from the other fairways.
Good course
Nice course with three 9 holes to choose from well maintained very fast greens! Only down side is its a little to short and they should have better signs for the holes.
We actually played the course in 2 1/2 hours .Fun course to play.
I was happy because I had my best score ever, but probably because the course I belong to is much more difficult to score on.
I don't care if it's $25
I'd rather have a dinner at the keg for my $25...and I'm a vegetarian....
Don't waste your time or money...go play a real course...not this backyard stuff...
Very short, allot of par 3's
Very nice if you're looking for a quick round of golf.
Short 18 hole course, but well worth it on good deals..
Good warm up course or getting started. Pretty decent short course, 6500 give or take, and playing black tees.
Course was in decent shape, on of the first few people out at 7AM.
lots of valleys and elevations
nice practice course for when you need to squeeze a quick game in to your day
Great beginner course, lots of par 3 and 4
Great beginner course, lots of par 3 and 4. Although the course needs a little more attention, the course is great to improve your game, staff is very helpful and friendly. At times, course may be overbooked if you don't mind waiting a little. Overall great value for 18 holes.
Great Value
Played this course 3 weeks in a row.
Great for all abilities, lots of fun.
This course needs to improve in many areas
I selected this course for our foursome, and had to hear about how bad it was from the 1st hole until the last. Some of the greens looked worse than rough at some places. We drove out of our way to play this course, rather than Chedoke in Hamilton, and all of us thought we made the wrong decision once we had completed our round.
This course should not be on Golfnow.com
This is the worst course I have played this year. the greens are absolutely pathetic. I got a hot deal for $17 including cart, and honestly, it was barely worth that. it's too bad because 2 years ago the course was OK.
course is great for beginners/intermediate
poor conditions when we went.
Needs better system for orientation, easy to get confused between the 3 different 9 holes courses, since they are so close together.. Easy to end up on the wrong one.
For the price, good value but could definitely be in better condition.
