Terrible tees Photo submitted by JSP2118 on 08/25/2019
Great Course!
This was my first time at Cardinal and it was excellent! The staff were very friendly and ammenities were great! Course ran slow as it was quite busy on the long weekend
A challenging golf course
A very challenging layout with excellent use of the hilly terrain. The greens and traps were excellent. The fairways are nicely cut, however they have drainage problems on the back nine and it was cart paths only.
Marshalls missing in action
Played this course many times - usually a good experience for the money. Friendly staff and nice new carts with GPS.
Unfortunately on this busy holiday Monday there were no marshalls - just when they were needed most.
Sign on the first tee said Cart Paths Only - except it wasn't true. GPS were programmed for CPO on only 3 holes on the back 9 which were pretty soggy. A marshall could have told the 3 groups in front instead of us waiting for them to wander the fairways. A marshall could have told people to forget looking for balls - just drop a new one and go.
No excuse for that.
Chewed up, lot of dog legs and blind shots
The fairways are in rough shape. Had never played with GPS carts was excited to, but being cart path only their use is limited. Held up at every hole by a group two ahead. Passed them by skipping the 11th (asked martial), and wasn't held up or holding anyone up thereafter.
Course layout felt repetitive, a lot of doglegs and short from the blues. No snack and beverage carts, and couldn't order using the cart GPS system.
It's closer to Toronto than most courses so that's a plus
Mediocre
I like the course layout, but the course was chewed up. Fairways were a sea of divots, pooling water in places, and pricey. Hopefully course will recover and play better in the fall.
A fairly good golf course and decent power cart
Have played this course for many years. No big changes or improvement and maintained the normal level of service. The power cart is good with GPS and helps to provide accurate distance for club selection. Fairway condition is fair as many dry patches and brown spots and the grass condition is so so. Got special price today from Golfnow and spent the afternoon with some friends before the long weekend. Staff is very friendly with smiling face and taught us on how to play with the GPS (particularly in cutting your strokes without your friend knowing it). The Redcrest is just on the side of the East course, may be one can sneak in to play a few holes and then come back to the East. Think the power cart will stop you going in so have to walk.
Ok track
The course was in ok shape, it was a bit flat, and the greens were a little bit too easy. There was some water and some holes were narrow, but it was generally quite playable. We were a twosome and we played blues on the front and whites on the back as the blues were too long and the whites were too short... all of the par 3's were difficult with the shortest at 157 yds. We finished in 415, right on their time, but we waited at every tee...
Should not be open
Upon arriving I was impressed with the facilities appearance and amenities. This quickly evaporated when we were informed the practice driving range was closed due to water.. Then a work group showed up ahead of us. 3 groups of beginners no one took charge of at all. After over half an hour the fist group of 3 made it to the hole 1 green. A lot due to the fairway being under water. Turned out all of them were under water. You could not drive the cart on anything but the cart path. 3 hours to play the front 9 and several times had to fish our balls out of pools of water in the middle of the fairway. We should have called it a day. Took 30 min to get 2 hot dogs at the restaurant counter staffed with people only interested in taking care of the large group. left very frustrated and disappointed. Looks like a challenging layout and should have been a good day. Will not go back
Upgraded power carts equipped with detailed GPS, online scoring and USB charging ports
It has been a wet and cool May so some spots on the course were damp and muddy. The front nine drained well so it was fairly dry and the greens were fast for my liking. The back nine did not seem to drain well, mosquitoes were plentiful and problematic.
The power carts were upgraded to electric and were equipped with detailed GPS, online scoring and USB charging ports.
The east course was a good test for me as an intermediate golfer. I had a good overall experience.
Cardinals
It's awesome.it was first time. It's beautiful course.
Another enjoy
This GC never give disappointment. Very good condition, friendly staffs and great game.
Jim N...
This course was in fair condition...
But the speed of play was very slow...
The group of 3 players ahead of us Teed-up 30 minutes earlier then us. By the 3rd Hole we were waiting on every hole from then on... When I got to the 12th hole I decided to leave the course, it took 3:30 to play 11 holes.... This was ridiculous.. The course is nice but the Slow Play negated that completely...
Not Happy...
