Cross Timbers Golf Course

       About
Cross Timbers rolls over rocky and rugged terrain, offering spectacular views that resemble the Hill Country. Jeff Brauer’s design is loaded with trees and features numerous pot bunkers, as well as a significant amount of water.
The elevated tee helps make the 165-yard No. 7 one of the best–it plays to a green fronted by bunkers and lined with rocks in the back.
Other notes: Remember the Texas farmer who graced the fairways of the Senior Tour in the mid-1990s? His name was Robert Landers, and Cross Timbers was his home course.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 820 north from Fort Worth. When you come to Hwy. 199 (Jacksboro Hwy.), turn west. Travel 10 miles to Stewart St. and turn left. The course is 1.5 miles and the entrance is on the left.

Greens
Greens were terrible. The tee boxes and fairways were nice. However, they have lost parts of several greens and they were all bumpy. Hated to see this because I really like the layout. Hopefully, they can get their greens back. If they do, go play here. It is a good value!!!!
Cross Timbers
The course overall was in good shape. Some of the greens were rough and being reworked. The ball had a tendency to bounce while rolling on the greens. Some of the fairways were very hard, which made it tough to hit the ball. Fairly challenging course and lots of fun. Well worth the price!
Great value!
I played for only $10! It was pretty dead out on the course because it rained the night before and more rain was in the forecast. It was cart path only but that didn't stop me. The rain never came and I was able to get in 18 holes in about 3 hours. Course was pretty well maintained considering the rain the night before. First time playing course and will definitely play it again!
what's the holdup
got to the 10th tee an older couple had to hit there tee shot over the top of people taking their time buying food from the cart
not the best place to vent food at the bottom of the tenth were you can't see over the edge without going to the edge to check first
I did couldn't wait any longer so I quit after 9
Bring back the greens
Course is in horrible shape. Like many courses they have lost their greens. Don't see them recovering anytime soon. When in shape a great value, in spite of the not friendly staff. What does it take to smile and say hello??
Good Country atmosphere
Typically this is a good value course; unfortunately, Very disappointing Greens!
A Do-over for sure!
The course was in great shape. They have received some rain in the past few weeks/days and the course reflects this. I look forward to playing this course again.
worth the drive
Very windy day and still early spring. The course was fun to play and the players were fun to play with and even invited me to join in their regular game. The course will be really good when the course gets green later this year.
Fun to play
Very fun course with challenging holes and well maintained greens. Carts are pretty old with no GPS but running fine specially climbing high hills for a couple of tee box. I had a good experience overall.
Great overall
Great time. Play this course often since only about. 10 min away. Great course and excellent staff.
great course in the country
Cross timbers is my home course and I usually play it 4-5 times a month. The value of this course is very good and if you live close by like I do you can't beat it. the atmosphere here is laid back but not so much that it lacks structure. They have recently cleaned out some of the underbrush from the woods around a lot of holes which makes play from those areas much better. The greens are extremely fast so just be aware of that. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Todd Mayfield is a standout employee at this course and if you are looking for lessons, especially for a junior, he is your man
Punishing Course Cinditions
Played poorly in part due to cold weather and course being dormant and very unforgiving with very hard packed fairways and greens conditions. Better play your approach shots high or short and roll the ball to the greens otherwise the ball will not hold almost all the greens. Only rewards you can get on a bad tee shot or fairway shot is lots of roll if you hit it enough. Shot making accuracy a must this day and I didn't have it. It's a better course than it played today, I know I will play it again, but almost wish I hadn't this day. Just have to play better than I did.
Like the course but it plays slow.
These guys had no marshal so we waited all day. I've run into this before playing early. Tried a mid-day tee time thinking it would be faster....didn't help. Foursomes don't seem to allow faster players to go thru.
This course has character.
Great outdoors appeal. Beautiful countryside with an occasional deer in the fairway. Elevated tee boxes. Subtle dog legs but watch out the fairways lay opposes the curves. Large greens, medium fast and true. Love to play here.
the greens are in good shape. the fairways need some attention.
for the money its fair. slow players need to pay attention and play ready golf. marshal did a good job advising slow players to let others go through.
Excellent value - greens in good shape
This course can get you if you don't stay towards the middle.....
Nice Greens and Fairways
Had not played this course in over a year in a half, mainly because the Greens just weren't up to par. Well, that has changed!!! Played the morning of 10/26/13, and was so impressed with how nice the greens were. Not a bare spot on any green, and they rolled very true. Was equally impressed with the fairways and the grass coverage. Considering the brutal summer, I've never seen this course look any better. Will definitely play here again soon.

Course is in nice shape. Overall pretty easy but their are a couple of holes that are challenging. Greens played fast. If you get the chance play it,
I like the course and will play again for sure.if you get the chance, visit the course.
The greens are very smooth and quick, excellent.
This course has matured into a true test of golf, and the greens have improved to be excellent. Very nice putting surfaces with quick speeds and a true roll. Very nice.
Surpisingly nice.
I played Tour 18 last week and The Tribute the week before last; the greens at Cross Timbers were better than either of those courses (Tour 18 insufferably slow and Tribute inconsistent). Could tell they had been verticut within the last 2 weeks and were fully recovered.
