Split Rail Golf Club

Nice course. Need to offer a few more inexpensive tee times but a very cool layout and the fairways are in pretty good shape. A few bare spots on fairways or greens but nothing that interferes with your round much. I've played here multiple times and will always come back.

Positives- Pace of play was fantastic! Really didn’t have to wait on anyone and had the whole back 9 to ourselves. The rolling hills were fun versus a flat fairway. I also appreciated there weren't many water shots I had to avoid.

Negatives- The women’s restroom was deplorable. It’s obvious it doesn’t get cleaned often. The greens were in pretty ugly shape with sand in a lot of the surface area and the cups were leaning. Cart girl only made one appearance on the back 9, hole 16. That sucked.

I don’t know that this course would be my first choice in the future (and I play a lot) because it definitely wasn’t a $215.00 worthy course with those conditions. But I got to play golf and a new course so I am not complaining. Just needs a few improvements.

The couse could use some ball cleaning

stations and water station for drinking water and portable rest rooms. The greens were somewhat good.

Got to play here on what I thought was a good deal. About $45 per person. Show up and check in went good. Then had to wait for a cart. Apparently they were all being used. Not a big deal. Tee boxes were 7/8 out of 10. Not to bad just needed a little bit of attention. Fairways were 3/4 out of 10. More the. 50% dead grass and a boat load of what seemed like dirt everywhere. Bunkers were like hitting off concrete. Greens were 7/8 out of 10. Decent condition but in desperate need of a good mowing. Had to crush the ball to get it to most holes. Worst part of all was the pace of play. We finally quit after 17 holes as we were at the 4 hour and 40 minute mark. We teed off at 1:20 on a Friday afternoon. Felt like we were waiting for every hole. Overall I would not play here again unless the course conditions don’t drastically get better.

Played only 9 due to slow play and depressing conditions of the course.

Split Rail is one of my favorite places to play golf. The course layout is great and very challenging for any level of golfer, and is very friendly to beginners in my opinion. The course has had some very rough experiences over the past few years, but it is on its way back to being one of the best courses in the DFW area. Greens are in really good shape and the fairways are coming along nicely. I'd say in about another 6 months, if they continue with the work that they started doing, this course will be in tip top shape. I love playing here even with the few bad spots here and there. Just stay on the fairway and hit the greens, and you won't have a problem!!!! Lol 😀

Greens are in great shape, tee boxes as well, but the fairways are half dead grass mixed with mud. Maybe in a month after some rain it will improve.

The course conditions are improving. Fairway conditions need some work but improving from what I’ve seen over the past years. Greens were in great shape. Some spots need repairs but for the most part the course was playable and the value was great. I will play again and recommend others to try it.

This course is in pretty good shape. Nice challenging layout.

Back in the day, I played this course so many times and it was always amazing. Haven’t played here in 5+years because of the conditions vs price. I’m happy I gave it another chance. The course was in good shape. Some small things were annoying (only 1 marker on the tee box, some larger dead/sanded spots on the back 9 greens, no sand box to fix divots on the tee, bunkers weren’t raked and some didn’t have rakes next to them for use.) None of that affected our outing and we had a great time. Will be back soon. Hopefully those small things are handled by then.

This place met us with one of the best looking club houses i have ever seen. The greens played well and the humps throughout the course made it more challenging during our play. Fairway made you work on your accuracy with trees and water hazards. I look forward to my next visit.

Great course layout with a lot of potential in the next 5 years!!

I always enjoy playing this golf course. It has a great layout and is challenging for golfers of all levels. The course is still recovering from the damage that it sustained a while back but it is still in good shape. Just please keep improving on the course and it will soon be a 4+ rated course.
